Turkey Day

"And then the natives like... Taught them to cook turkeys, I guess? Anyway yeah, that's why every year on the last Thursday of November, we have a big feast, and then the next day we all fight to the death over expensive TVs at a decently low price." Skylar explained as she drove through Yokohama, doing her best to introduce her Japanese girlfriend to the American tradition of Thanksgiving. But any sane person, no matter what culture they came from, could tell she had no idea what she was talking about.

Skylar had been dating Orime Akasa for about a month now, and everytime they met, she found herself falling even deeper in love with her. Today, she was excited to introduce her to her mom on Thanksgiving day. Pulling into Maya's driveway, Sky parked the car. "Here we are. Trust me, you're gonna love her." She said.

Getting out of the car and knocking on the door, Sky sneaked a peck on Orime's cheek. After a moment, Maya opened the door with a welcoming smile. "Hey Skylar! Happy Thanksgiving!" She greeted cheerfully, hugging her daughter, before turning to Orime. "And you must be Orime! You're even more beautiful then Skylar described. But we can't fault her for that, she doesn't have the best vocabulary." She joked. Sky stuck out her tongue at Maya, who offered Orime a handshake. "I'm Maya. It's wonderful to meet you."

Orime sat next to her in the car, looking adorably befuddled as Skylar described Thanksgiving and Black Friday to her. "That last part sounds really barbaric..." She muttered, the car soon coming to Sky's parents house.

While Orime did not know much about Thanksgiving, she knew how much she loved Skylar. She was especially excited to see her mother, getting up and following Skylar to the door eagerly. She giggled as Skylar pecked her cheek, but regained composure, wanting to be her best for when Maya answered. The door soon opened, a lovely thick brunette in front of her. She gladly took her up o the handshake. "Orime Akasa! It's an absolute pleasure!"

Maya happily shook hands with Orime, before inviting her inside, letting the two young women take off their shoes and get comfortable. " You girls can go ahead and sit down wherever you like. Turn on the TV if you want. I'm nearly done with dinner. I was just about to bake a pie for desert." Maya said, before sighing slightly. "Bad news is though, it's near impossible to find a turkey around here. Seems like we might just have to go without" She shrugged.

"No the fuck we won't." Skylar said with conviction. In her mind, Thanksgiving Dinner without a turkey would be an abomination to the lord. Like Christmas without presents, or Halloween without TP'ing a motherfucker's house. "We are not having Thanksgiving dinner without a turkey. I'm gonna go find one." She said, right back on het feet. Maya rolled her eyes, a slight smile of appreciation on her face. "Knock yourseld out, hun. But whether you find one or you don't, be back by sundown." She said, before whispering in her ear sternly. "And maybe see how your girlfriend feels about it before you go running off."

Hearing Maya's whispered reprimand, Sky's cheeks went red, a little ashamed to have not thought of Orime. "You cool with that babe? You can come if you want." She offered.

Ori was glad to have Maya's approval, shaking her hand. The white haired cutie soon took off her shoes, sitting down nearby. Everything sounded cool, but no turkey sounded bad. It was confirmed when Skylar shot up vulgarly, surprising Orime. "Gah!" She exclaimed, apologizing after. Sky soon asked if she wanted to come with her to find a turkey. "Actually, if it's fine, I'd like to stay here with your mom, maybe help out a bit." She said.

Skylar smiled warmly at Orime's answer, leaning in and giving her a kiss on the lips, before sliding her shoes and hoodie back on. "A'right, I'll be gone two hours, tops. Love you bye!" She exclaimed, before hurrying out the door and driving off. Maya sighed, smiling. "Oh, that girl. I'm sure you slready know well enough..." She said. "I really appreciate you offering to help out, Orime. I've been looking forward to getting to know you." She smiled.

Leading Orime into the kitchen, Maya pulled out a pie pan from her coubard, placing it on the counter, as well as a box of pillsbury pie crust. She preheated the oven, smiling at Ori. "Ready to bake some apple pie?"

Orime kissed her loved goodbye. "See you soon!" She said, Sky leaving after. "She's amazing..." Ori told Maya, then moved over to her. "I've been interested in getting to know you as well!" She said, nodding as Maya asked if she was ready to help. "Where can I start?" Ori asked.

Maya smiled, able to feel the love Orime had for Skylar. It made her happy to see. "That's one way to describe her." She chuckled. As she began to spread the pie dough across the pan, Orime asked what she should do. "Open the can of filling, if you'd please." She said, gesturing to a can of apple pie filling.

As the two women did their jobs, Maya hummed a pretty song. She glanced at Orime, thinking about the fact that this beautiful young woman was her daughter's girlfriend. "If you don't mind me asking, Orime, what exactly is it that you like about my daughter?" She asked, a bit of playful mockery of her daughter in the question.

Orime did as asked, opening the can. When Maya asked her question, Orime tensed up a bit. "Well, she's cute, strong, caring." She said. "I know she's this really dangerous wrestler, but I can see the other side to her, and it's comforting." The white haired cutie said.

Maya smiled warmly at Orime's answer. As much as she loved her, she knew that her daughter was a deeply troubled person. While she could never blame a person for not being able to see the good in Skylar, it made her really happy to see that Skylar had found someone who did see the good in her, and loved her. "She hasn't always had it easy, and that doesn't excuse the things she's done and the way she acts. But I've always known that my sweet little girl is still there, buried under all that anger, and I'm really happy that someone like you can see that softness deep down and love her for it." She said, taking the can of apples from Orime and spreading them across the pie. "If we talk about Sky too much, she might sense it and get even more full of herself. What about you, Orime? What's your family like?"

Orime nodded as she spoke. Despite not really witnessing what Skylar could do, she knew from her reputation what she was capable of. Obviously, some bad things in her life happened to make her this way. Soon, Maya asked the question about Orime's own family. "Well, they're very loving and supporting. Supported my lifestyle, my career. " She said.
