Calm before another storm?

Continued from here
Hazel closed the door to her and Kai's hotel room, letting Kai relax and clean herself up after the two had some fun. This trip truly had turned out like a bit of a vacation for the two lovebirds, with them able to spend a day relaxing and exploring the Mediterranean island. The Scotswoman still had a little while before she had to call it a night and prepare for her grueling match the next day, so what better way to unwind than a drink?
Heading a short way down the hall, the Scotswoman found the elevators and entered one before clicking the ground floor button. She remembered seeing the hotel bar near the lobby on the way to check in. Very convenient considering that she had never been in Malta, and tonight was not a good night to get lost wandering the streets looking for a bar. Hazel waited patiently as the Elevator doors closed and it moved down, taking the time to readjust her braid before the elevator doors reopened. Stepping out into the lobby, Hazel saw her destination just across the large lobby. The hotel was relatively quiet, only a few people walking around, and the bar was much the same as she reached it, maybe a couple of people, not including the bartender. Hazel didn't pay them any mind, she was just here for a drink or two, not to disturb or have conversations with strangers who were here to do the same.
Hazel found a seat at the bar in the form of a fancy stool with expert woodwork and a leather seat, very nice, and likely very old, though it was clear from the craftsmanship that these stools were made to last long and look good at the same time. Taking her seat, Hazel waved to the bartender and ordered herself a glass of whiskey to start off. Taking a deep breath, Hazel took a sip to start.
"Going to have to drink a lot more tomorrow" Hazel thought, joking to herself about both celebrating and numbing the pain that was going to come from the match!

Much like Hazel, Sheila had never been to Malta, either. Or Europe. Or even the Northern Hemisphere, for that matter. She’d lived her life in a little corner of Australia, a dirty hole in the bush tha most people tried to avoid if they could get away, the sort of place people would drive around just to avoid. But it had been her hole, and she was proud of it, and she was happy there.
Japan had changed things. It was a different environment, wild and new, and she’d done her best to adapt. Working on learning the language and customs, getting used to the grind of a professional wrestling league, and taking on all kinds of insane opponents. She’d grown to be a small fan favorite, too - not the most popular wrestler on the roster, sure, but she had her fans, especially now after her grueling match with Kenzie Kraze. That match had put her in the hospital for a couple weeks, but when she left, she was in high spirits.
More than that, she was thinking: She’d been in Japan for over a year now, had plenty of matches, picked up a few wins. There was good momentum, and maybe it was time she start thinking about the next step in her career. Maybe it was time to start making long-term plans.
Maybe it was time she thought about gold.
That was what brought her to Malta, tagging along with the company despite not having a match. That was what led her to this overpriced bar, stocked with a bunch of drinks she’d never heard of with names she couldn't pronounce. And that was what had her sitting next to the potential-champion, making her presence known with a slap on the bar.
”Oy!” She waved and got the bartender’s attention. ”Something for me, too. Beer. Something with kick, want it to fight me on the way down.” The bartender looked more confused than anything, but he went to work with a shrug, perusing the options while Sheila.
”Scot and an Aussie in a fuckin’ bar. Not fighting the cliches, are we?” She smirked and looked the Highlander over. Big bitch. ”’Course, I don’t have a big fight tomorrow, so it makes a little more sense for me.”

Hazel wasn't that big of a drinker, maybe a few on occasion to unwind or celebrate, very rarely ever enough to get drunk or feel buzzed. The fancy and probably overpriced whiskey in the hotel was pretty good, still, Hazel preferred the alcohol back in her homeland, but this was still pretty good and would do. Surprisingly, she found a bar back in Japan one time that carried one of the alcohols she liked to drink back home, and she had also met a friend while she was there, Alizeh. If she were here, she would have bought the green haired woman a drink, but recalling the match card she had won, the woman was likely in Rome, lucky girl.
She desired a match with Alizeh, especially for the Lawless belt that was up in her hotel room. But that would have to wait, she had to get through Hana first, a woman who had challenged her for the belt back in Japan, though it did beat getting jumped and having the brawl to defend the belt, the match was bringing a bit of law and order to a belt that was called lawless!
Hazel suddenly heard a slap on the bar near her and turned her head to look. An Aussie by the sound of her voice, probably already drunk with how loud she was, poor bartender. Hazel turned her attention back to her drink for just a moment before the strange woman spoke to her. "Yup, definitely an Aussie" Hazel thought to herself as the woman spoke and turned her head to study the woman. Average size, couldn't have been bigger than 5'7, clearly in decent shape, and loud.
The Scotswoman took a sip of her drink as Sheila made it obvious she was with LAW, likely another wrestler considering her behavior. "Yup, makes someone wonder why you're in Malta..." Hazel said now suspicious of the woman at the bar with her, ready for this to go south in a heartbeat as she prepared herself for anything that might have been coming.

Sheila, on the other hand, was a huge drinker, or at least she had been back at home. Despite being on the smaller side, she could empty glasses with the best of them, and there was no better way for her to end her night after a rowdy hardcore match than getting stone drunk and waking up in a place she couldn't remember going to.
It had been a pleasure she hadn't enjoyed too much in Japan. It wasn’t impossible to find good drinks in Tokyo, she’d pulled it off a couple of times, but it was always a hassle and the bartenders were, most often, hardasses that wouldn’t let her go hog wild. Unlike her little slice of heaven back, Japanese culture was more orderly, more dignified, and usually less fun, in her opinion.
She liked Tokyo enough, but now that she was out of the country, she was going to take full advantage of the opportunity to mix things up. She swung about on the stool as she waived for the bartender to do his thing, then flashed a wild eye Hazel’s way when she spoke.
The woman seemed a little suspicious - understandable, meetings like this went to shite all the time. ”Easy, maybe-champ.” She held up her hands in a rare sign of defense. ”If I was looking for a fight, we’d be fighting already, trust me. Wouldn’t want to ruin your big match tomorrow, looking forward to a banger.”

Hazel was normally reserved and decently quiet, unless she was with friends of Kai, and she had never been an issue inside the bars back in Japan. That being said, in the ring, anything could happen! Sheila seemed like quite the opposite, and with what Hazel had seen, she'd assume the woman had gotten kicked out of at least one or two bars by a bartender with less patience than this one.
Hazel side eyed Sheila as the woman spun around on the stool like a bored child. "Hmph" Hazel let out a semi annoyed hum as Sheila referred to her as "maybe champ." The Scotswoman had beaten Rylie Marshal, she had the belt, and she had no plans of letting Hana take it away from her so soon!
Hazel took a deep breath as Sheila revealed she didn't want to fight her. Hazel picked up her glass, taking a long sip and finishing it before setting it back on the bar counter, motioning for the bartender for another. "Why are you here if you aren't booked?" Hazel asked without looking towards Sheila, deciding to humor the woman with a conversation.

As much as Sheila wouldn’t have minded a good barroom brawl - it had been ages since she’d gotten the opportunity - even she knew better than to start shit like that here. First and foremost, she didn’t want to get in trouble with the local law and run the risk of having her flight plans screwed up.
It seemed like that answer was enough to calm Hana down, at least for the moment, easing her up as their drinks were brought back. Sheila took her bear, nodded the bartender’s way, took a sip, then winced - it had the kick she was hoping for, fair enough, but was more on the sour side than what she’d expected. She wouldn’t be asking for seconds.
Sheila forced another sip down, before smirking Hana’s way. ”Good question, why would a pro wrestler want to see some wrestling matches?” She chuckled. ”Came to see the fight, bonnie lass.” She chuckled and leaned on the bar. ”Plus, wanted to get a good look at the champ. See you up close and personal before I take that title off your waist. Not so weird, is it?”

Hazel was sure she could have taken Sheila in a brawl, but she didn't want to risk an injury especially ahead of her first title defense that was just a day away. Thankfully Sheila didn't seem to be looking for a fight, at least here and now anyways.
It was like a standoff for a few moments, thankfully Sheila was smart enough to deescalate and Hazel did as well. Hazel deciding to show off a bit took another long swig from her glass, her drink not even bothering her as Sheila thought hers was sour and just sipped on it. That was when Sheila answered Hazel's question and decided to mock the Scotswoman a bit before showing she had interest in the belt, almost in the way Hana did!
"Hmph, good luck with that" Hazel said taking another sip from her glass. "So you just came her to chat? Eye me up? I'm flattered but I'm already taken lass" Hazel said sarcastically before finishing her second drink. She wasn't going to ask for another, she was just about done here anyways unless Sheila had anything actually important to say before she went back to her room.

The idea that Sheila was here to eye her up got a good laugh out of the Wild One. Frankly, she was all fucked out at the moment thanks to her match with Kenzie. After the sexfest, she needed to recharge her sexual batteries before she even thought about taking on anyone in the bedroom, let alone a workhorse like well.
”Good for you, she’s a lucky girl, whoever she is.” Sheila just assumed it was a woman that Hazel was banging, there. But this was LAW, so that was a pretty safe assumptions, as assumptions went.
”Look, I’m just planting my flag, all right? Do what you gotta do here, handle your business, heal up right. ‘Cause once you’re back in Japan? You’ve got a match with Sheila Morgan waiting for you. Understand, champ?”

Hazel wasn't one for casual sex, let alone hentai. As a matter of fact she didn't really like the idea of fucking in the ring, but that was besides the point, and she wouldn't even give Sheila a moment of time if she came to her with a proposition like that. Instead, Sheila seemed to laugh off the idea before brushing off the fact that Hazel was seeing someone as well. Could have been a man, Hazel was bisexual after all, as much as she did enjoy the couple of men she had been with previously, she loved nothing in the world more than Kai, except maybe wrestling.
"Planting your flag? Cute lass, real cute" Hazel responded as she got up from her seat and pulled the money from her pocket to pay for the two drinks she had. "I think you should take your flag and put it behind about a dozen others who want to fight" Hazel said, brushing off Sheila before turning to leave.

”But that’s the thing - I’m already at the front of the line.”
Hazel didn’t know Sheila, perfectly understandable. While she’d been with the company for a couple years now and had more than her fair share of matches in that time, she was still one woman among many, and it was easy to get lost in the shuffle. Hell, all things being equal, Sheila hadn't know much about Hazel before she took the belt.
But that's okay - Sheila was going to make her aware. Painfully aware. In the only way she knew how. ”Just a friendly heads up, this is a formal call out - when you get back home, we’re going at it. So kept that belt clean, okay?”
