The Friday Show
Ending off the first day of the Gambit is a gauntlet match with Katarzyna Zawiślak as the subject. ANYONE, whether wrestler or patron, can step-up and try their luck against the Combat Wombat. Health not guaranteed.
INTRODUCTION
Friday is coming to a close with one remaining show at The Open Bottle, Hotel Madison’s jazz club and restaurant. A full crowd, full tables, plenty of people at the bar, more standing with friends along the wall as the background music played old Jazz numbers. At the centre was a pro wrestling ring. All four sides were curtained to public view up for maintenance, cleaning and preparations. Now, the drapes row towards the ceiling by a winch, and in the middle was the proprietress herself.
“Hello everyone.” Said mic in hand. She wore a red dress shirt, a green tie, black shorts and suspenders that she pulled with red gloves. “Let's hear it one more time for Astra Nova and Shimmerlace. They’ve earned all that they got.” She threw her free hand into the air, walking the ropes to get a wave of patrons raising glasses, clapping or just now paying attention. “Nothing but the best for them and their hangover. But something tells me you might want to save your prayers for what’s coming up next. Or should I say, who.”
She grinned, paused, then started up again, “Are we familiar with how a Roman Coliseum works? The gladiators. The forced prisoners that train all their life to fight for blood, money and freedom. The gladiator will face anything or anyone, then either die or live by set rules by the Emperor. Then, when it’s done, who makes the final call?” She let the question hang, sticking out a relaxed thumb.
“Everyone.”
She adjusted her tie, then completed the point. “Get the picture? Every Darling watching this will have the chance to become a gladiator and fight a legend of today. Think of the life changing ramifications, if you can plant just one well-placed punch on that human jaw of hers... It would revolutionize your life. So step up, and get stepped on, because it’s an open gauntlet fight night at THIS Open Bottle, starring Kate! Zawiślak! The Combat Wombat!”
Her hand extended towards the crowd, making a fist and calling the action to begin!
