Re: Kyoko Akan (C) vs Katarzyna Zawiślak — Last Woman Standing Match for the LAW Middleweight Title

Kate was sitting backstage, taking the last moment of peace she'd get before the fight. A title match should be something to celebrate, most fighters, even on a professional level never do so much as sniff such an opportunity. And yet, Kate did not feel like there was anything to celebrate about this, she was not proud of this though she knew by all rights she should and regardless of what happens next, others were. She wasn't really here for the title, what she wanted was to show Kyoko one did not simply mess with her loved ones, that there were consequences for what she was doing, and part of those was losing the belt. It was not a moment of triumph, it was more like putting down a rabid dog, not a pretty thing but necessary all the same.

When she stood ready to make her entrance, she didn't feel the familiar rush of excitement or anxiety, the feeling following her tonight had a completely different flavour, it was cold and strangely familiar in a way that felt far from comfortable but it suited the occasion, the right mindset for the job she had out there, no bells and whistles, just violence.
Theme
"The following contest is The Last Woman Standing Match for The Middleweight Championship! Introducing first, the challenger! From Dallas, Texas, standing at five feet seven inches and weighing in at one hundred and sixty-nine pounds! Katarzyna Zawiślak!" The announcer spoke as Kate appeared on stage, raising one fist up above her head as she made her way through the stage, a thick purple mist rolling in behind her. Though many might have expected her to be wearing gold for such a big occasion, Kate came out in her usual black attire, a more practical choice by far. And now as she was making her way down the ramp, she forgone the usual slapping of hands with the fans, using the time to stretch her arms and as if understanding, the fans on either side stuck to clapping and cheering for her, managing to force a slight smile on her otherwise dour expression.

As she made it to the ring, she took a big breath and sighed before jumping up on top of the apron and sliding in between the ropes. She rolled her shoulders for a moment, raising her fist once more to the audience and smoking in their reactions as she closed her eyes, it would be the last time tonight she'd pay them any mind though she hoped they'd still appreciate what she was doing, then she stepped into her corner, resting her back against it as she awaited the arrival of the champion.

This time she wouldn't see the Main event like she did last time, but she would still eclipse it like she did every other time, championship or no championship. Though this time she wasn't really going to enjoy it as much since the competition was hardly on her level. She was some rookie who 1 year ago earned a contract and did almost nothing important since, besides interfering in the past Main even to save Alizeh from her just desserts. Everyone loved to do things at her expense until Kyoko did them back, then she was devil. Everything done by her was far more heinous simply because she was the culprit. Jealousy had its many forms and that had been the most persistent one. Kyoko almost didn't want to reward someone who'd been nothing but a nuisance in the year they'd been here. The voice of reason ended up being her manager who pointed out that even if she was justified in ignoring Kate's challenge due to they're being more worthy contenders and Kate doing nothing to rise above them, refusing to fight her at all would go against the many vows Kyoko made to give anyone willing a chance. As much as it pained Kyoko, she was right. Even if Kate was not going to push her Kyoko did have to be a woman of her word in a world where no one else was. She just wished that she could get something out of her to work with so Kyoko didn't look like a fool on the grand stage by beating someone so far beneath her.
Spoiler
Her music played while emblem was over all the arena screens, while Kyoko would eventually arrive through the entrance ramp and come down to the ring with both of her belts, the continued proof of her hard work fighting for LAW and raising the bar of greatness that she was trying to keep. The Belly Queen's entrance remained the same but so far she arrived alone and would strut along until she made it to the ring apron, jump on it and slowly remove her belts for the cameras to finally see her abs. Then she would roll into the ring and raise both belts up once she was on her feet, basking in the crowd reactions all around her for her third PPV title match. Then she turned to the ref and handed her Middleweight belt before taking the Belly Belt with her to the corner and placing it behind her, turning to Kate with a disinterested look. "Hey hey hey!" Kirie said coming out from the ramp as Kyoko's music stopped, microphone in hand with a smile on her face.

"At the special request of Kyoko I've been given permission to introduce her for this bout! Beats getting tossed off ambulances." Kirie joked before she got more serious and looked down at the ring, pointing at Kyoko. "So without further ado...Katarzyna's opponent, from Kyoto Japan! Weighing in at one hundred and fifty pounds of pure muscles, with the best abs possible and standing at five feet and eight inches! The greatest Middleweight champ in the world, the pound for pound best wrestler ever, The Belly Queen Kyoko Akan!" Kirie screamed to boos and jeers while Kyoko waited in her corner, she'd heard it all before so by now they were nothing to her. Kirie took a bow and would skip down to the ring to grab Kyoko's belly belt. "Holding this." She said backing off to jump the guard rail and take a seat right outside to get a close look at the action.

Kyoko made her entrance much like Kate predicted, shaking her head slightly at both Kirie's announcement and the look Kyoko gave her. She wondered if having someone glaze her like that was a sign of an overblown ego or rather compensating some deep-rooted insecurity, not that it really mattered, it was clear to Kate that Kyoko did not treat this seriously anyhow and that would prove to be a mistake. When they last spoke, the champion tried to point to how Kate did not deserve that shot at the title, just as if two of her previous challengers, Akane and Nashi did not fall short of Kate before she even signed in full for LAW, ignoring completely her matches since, be that Brindi, Tara or her last PPV against Mindy not to even mention her own run with the championship at WFPW. It seemed like Kate was in Kyoko's eyes unworthy by the very fact she even existed. She was not the first to make the mistake of underestimating Kate, and if this match was to happen a year ago, she might have even agreed with that stance, now however she'd make sure that the champion would regret it.

With all the announcements made and the crowd settling in for a moment, the referee would call them both to the centre of the ring. Kate would walk forward, absentmindedly cracking her knuckles while her full attention was on the woman before her, tracking the way she moved, how she distributed her weight not so much in expectation of an attack, not before the bell at least but to get a fuller picture on her opponent, find gaps and be ready to exploit them.

Kyoko's entrance ended and she stepped up once the ref told her too. Listening only enough to know when to move and when to strike, for the moment she was watching Kate with amusement. She wasn't stupid enough to actually think Kate wasn't a threat, but by now she'd heard the variation of the speal about how her attitude made her unworthy of being champion over and over again nonstop since she joined LAW, champs like Alaina or Eirina or even Alizeh. For years people told her that she wasn't worthy of being a champ and for years she knocked them down until she'd won it. Now Kate was here saying the same thing over and over again, underestimating the Queen because they thought she was weak or a fool for some reason. It would be her downfall just like all of them, and Kyoko was just counting down until it happened.

"Is that knuckle cracking supposed to intimidate me? You've been acting like a silent pitbull with judging eyes since you got here." Kyoko said, mocking Kate's mood as the bell rang. The tough girl routine seemed to be her only gimmick, and it wouldn't do anything to startle someone who's taken on the best and worst this place has to offer. "Look you can be mad all you want, but all that anger isn't going to do anything for you, you're the one with something to prove not me. Telling yourself that I've lost a step and I'm going to be easy to keep down for 10 seconds isn't going to make me stay down, you'll be pushed to your limits and I don't think you realize that, do you have any idea how painful a match with me can be?" Kyoko ranted. The match was ready to start, it was only about making the first move that Kyoko was certain Kate was waiting on her to make.

Kate didn't give much of a reaction when Kyoko spoke, intimidation tactics were never her style and besides, hoping they'd work on someone like that would just be foolish. For all the bile she had for the champion, she couldn't deny her skill, Kyoko was most certainly among the best LAW had and this was not the reason Kate thought her unfiting for the position she held. It was the woman's skirting of rules and her arrogance that were the problem but even more importantly than that, it was simply personal.

The bell rang and Kate shook her head seeing Kyoko still talking. She got a good look at the way the woman was standing, took a deep breath as if to reply and stepped forward. As her foot touched the ground, she would smoothly land into a boxing stance to immediately push off with her feet, turn her hips and core in tandem as she pulled her right shoulder, aiming to slam her fist into Kyoko's chin with a lead hook!

She wasn't here to play, she did not come here thinking it would be easy and she most certainly did not care for what Kyoko had to say. "Shut up. I didn't come here to talk so put your hands up already!" She said, not going to repeat the mistake from her last PPV of humouring shit talk just for show

Kyoko's word were meant with nothing back from Kate, even when she thought she was getting a response it was just a set up for her to get into a fighting stance and quickly send the first punch of the match right to Kyoko's face, which came quick enough that Kyoko couldn't dodge or block it. "Auuggh!" Kyoko screamed, her head launched back and almost sent to the floor from the punch. Kate had hit her twice in the past, once when she bailed Alizeh out and once when they met after her belly match with Tara, the first one only hurt so bad because she was tired and she handled the second one with ease, which made her confident that for all of her talk the Wombat didn't have any bite to her barking or growling. That punch proved her early assessment to be wrong....she wasn't sure where that power came from but that punch singlehandedly hurt more than those other blows even if you combined them. She was still on her feet, but that was mostly because she was a brick wall, a punch like that could knock someone out if they weren't as strong as she was.

"Fuuuucck!" Kyoko growled rubbing her aching jaw after nearly spinning around from the punch, turning back to Kate to make sure she wasn't going for a follow up when she was looking away. Kate might've been able to sneak one in, but only wanted Kyoko to get ready for a fight, making the Queen mad despite the pain that she thought anyone could order her to do anything. "No one gives me orders!" Kyoko shouted bringing her hands and stepping in close before launching a quick punch back at Kate.

Kyoko's words to Kate just a few seconds before seemed to fall on deaf ears but in fact, gave her some small insight into what she at least assumed Kyoko to think. It seemed the champion expected her challenger to come in here looking down at her but Kate never did so to begin with. She certainly held no love for the woman but accusing her of being weak or stupid would be a mistake she most certainly could not afford and one it seemed others made enough times to make Kyoko accustomed to. This in itself had to be an effect of anger or stupidity as the champion would prove just seconds after when the impact to her jaw did not only prove not enough to ground her despite the force behind it but did not even stop her for long as the belly queen quickly launched the attack of her own.

It seemed ironic that she cried about not taking orders while doing almost exactly what Kate ordered but that was not something Kate had time to appreciate with Kyoko's fist fast approaching her head. Kate was ready for that, managing to close her guard though the power of the blow still reverberated through her forearms and to her cheek, forcing her to roll with the punch. Most wrestlers were not great with their hands but it seemed Kyoko was one of the exceptions with how sharp her form was even when enraged.

Still, while continuing the exchange with Kyoko was more dangerous than with others, Kate's stance was already committed to it, especially with how she received the blow and now with all that momentum she rolled with, she would sweat back, taking a step to change her stance to a south paw as she'd fire a right hook to Kyoko's head to get her hands up before following it with an uppercut to the champion's midsection!

The Belly Queen had followed up getting rocked in the face and tried to hit her back only to find Kate prepared to try and redirect them to avoid a painful block. Quickly Kate started to get into another position that Kyoko recognized from the training she did with her friends like Andy. "You would be a fucking Southpaw." Kyoko muttered, keeping her hands up to watch her act. Boxing was something she almost picked up very well due to her joy of brawling before she focused more on MMA and of course wrestling. She was taught enough to defend herself against it even if she wasn't an expert, keeping her hands and waiting for the best moment to strike before Kate went first aiming for her head when her guard was already up. Kyoko was prepared to take a few steps back to avoid it and redirect it as well when Kate changed actions and went for Kyoko's stomach.

"Gngh!" Kyoko groaned feeling Kate's fist against her abs. Despite still packing more power than her pre match hits, no single punch could topple Kyoko's abs. The power of the fist was felt a little bit through her core, before her abs absorbed it and stopped it from going too far from the point of impact. In fact that was probably the worst spot Kate could've hit her after making her hands come up since it could open her face up for a follow up...If Kyoko wasn't distracted by the abs on Kate that were calling her fists. It was the only decision Kyoko could make, and instead of going for the head she would lower herself and quickly send a counter punch to Kate's belly instead, trying to test the muscles and see if they really were as tight as they looked.

Much as Kate could have expected, the punch to the core did not do significant damage to the belly queen feeling not too dissimilar from hitting a slab of wrought iron but that was enough for now. She wasn't hoping to outdo Kyoko in her own game, all she needed from those strikes was to slowly whittle down her stamina and they would eventually start doing that. That first strike however came at a cost of Kyoko managing to land her own punch to Kate's abdomen!

"Ksss" Kate exhaled sharply through her teeth at the sting of the punch. This was another confirmation Kyoko must have had some boxing training before given both the technique and the sheer power behind the blow but still, Kate's abs were not just for show and they'd absorb the blow dealt to them as she stepped back. She was a bit surprised at her opponent picking her abs as the target instead of the head where she was open for that brief window of time but it seemed that the title of belly queen came not only with responsibilities but compulsions as well.

With the step back she took she'd switch stances once again, wanting to keep her opponent guessing as at the same time she'd drop her lead hand low to take a stance more akin to a phily shell. "Keep guessing" She replied flatly at the southpaw comment, using the greater distance between them now to open with a flick-jab, followed by a cross at the head and hoping to finish the combination with a lead hook to the champions side, aiming roughly for the sweet spot around the liver!
