A Holy Invitation

Alanna Antoinette stood in the center of the ring. She was offered a backstage interview but declined. Instead she wanted to address the LAW fandom and locker room directly. She raised her microphone and spoke.

”I decided to grace you with my presence. Ta gueule! Vous les paysans should be grateful I am here. But I am not here for you. You people aren’t worth it. I am here to send a message to the LAW locker room. I’ll make any man here a jobber…” she paused and smirked, “whether they are willing or not. And what I did to Isaiah Bowen, I can do to any one of these-”

At the mention of Isaiah's name, the arena all of a sudden went dark. The titantron suddenly produced an image of a churchyard. The camera goes into the church only to see a ring with a figure sitting in the center of the ring. The figure stands up to reveal a rather striking, all black, crow-like man:

He looks away for a minute toward the front of the church, then suddenly turns toward the camera, "I told you a nightmare awaits..." Isaiah said, in a noticeably lower tone of voice, "This...is my house, where prophecies are fulfilled. And, If I recall, my lesser self gave you a prophecy, that a nightmare awaits you. I tell you this, this prophecy is about to be fulfilled. Here, in my house. Or do you fear holy retribution?"

Alanna gave a mocking “Ooooooo” when Isaiah finished up. ”Well you’re right about one thing, Isaiah, you are lesser. I’m not afraid of any retribution, especially not holy retribution. Not from the invisible man in the sky and certainly not from you. So what do you want, holy man? A rematch? I beat you before and would do so again!” Alanna huffed and delivered a snobby laugh.

Isaiah's facial expression was covered by his mask, but, he was a bit amused by Alanna's taunts, "You are right in that I want a rematch, but not where you are standing, but, where I'm standing, in my house. You are about to make history, as the first victim of the Prophet's House Match. The address has already been sent to your locker. or are you the one now running scared?"

” What’s the stipulation? Not that it makes a difference. You think a change in venue and a different costume will make a difference? I knocked you out in this ring, I’ll knock you out in your creepy house too! I’ll be there, holy man.” Alanna dropped the microphone and flipped off Isaiah and mean mugged for the crowd.

"I'm glad you asked, frenchie, The rules here are very simple. The person who can't answer a ten count loses! Everything else is fair game. Also, this ring is more of a formality, as it's Falls Count Anywhere. I think even someone who is as one-dimensional and simple as you can understand that?" Isaiah said with a notable scowl in his voice.

”Hmmm a bit more bite in his voice. Has the man found his fire?” she thought. Alanna left the ring and returned to her locker to find a wax sealed envelope labeled “Alanna Antoinette.” She took it out and opened it.

”The Prophet” Isaiah Bowen formally requests your presence at the Church of the Prophet Isaiah to face him in the inaugural Prophet’s House Match on Sunday the tenth of July at eight o’clock in the evening.

The Prophet’s House Match will begin promptly at the ringing of the Bells and continue until one competitor is unable to answer a count of 10. There will be no disqualification and no holds shall be barred. The match may end in the ring or anywhere on the church grounds. Proper decorum shall be observed until the bells are rung and resume at the match’s conclusion. Those who violate this tenet shall face a waking nightmare. Directions enclosed. We humbly await your attendance.

Alanna scowled. The camera crew and interviewer caught up with her and asked if she accepted his challenge. Alanna replied, ”You’re right about one thing, Prophète, it is simple. As simple as when I knocked you out the first time. I’ll show you once again… Take away your mask and your théâtre, and I’m still better than you! J'accepte!
