Gil's Goodbyes

No-one likes saying goodbye, it felt too permanent, 'see you later' better floated Gil's boat, but maybe it was time? Gil had to draw in a deep breath or two to collect herself, it was too late to have second thoughts, and besides, she knew this was truly what she wanted, no matter how hard it was to admit. "...Just like ripping off a band-aid..." Gil spoke to herself, and then, she emerged from backstage, onto the ramp, wielding a microphone, and an old, beat-up, hockey-stick. She then made her way into the ring. Her excitement was... Lower, the crowd roared, but Gil did nothing to pump them up even more.

Gil slipped herself under the bottom-most rope and then gently rose back to her feet, standing dead-middle of the ring, clutching a microphone tight to her chest. She drew in one more deep breath and waited for the crowd to quiet down, and then, she spoke...

"...H-hey, everyone... I'm not really used to doing this sort of thing, I don't really get out her and call people out, or start feuds on twitter, really, I'm still just some girl who loves sports, and wanted to play with the big-leaguers...!" Gil cracked a smile, as things started coming a little more naturally to her. "...And... I've been very lucky to be able to do that, I've squared-up against foes much bigger than me, and smaller too...!" She chuckled. "...Every match was against someone smarter, stronger, more talented, but... I still had fun, and to me, that's all I wanted..."

She cleared her throat, as her voice began to crack. "...I know, I know this isn't... Something people just come-out and say regularly, usually people are in this ring putting asses-to-faces or spilling blood, or for promos, talking about how their going to put their ass to someone's face, or how their going to spill blood...!" Gil laughed at her own comments before continuing. "...So, I guess I'm just going to have to..." Gil's eyes trailed down and she stared at her feet, she stood paused for a good few seconds. "...I have to rip-off the band-aid..." She clutched her hockey-stick close to her body.

"...I'm retiring..." She let it settle in for a moment, then carried on. "...It's been a lot of fun, and it never got less fun, that's not why I'm making this decision, there are a few reasons that made me believe this was the right choice, one being, health and safety. I've been lucky to not have been too hurt during my many, many matches here... Still, I don't want to push it, I've gotten my far share of cuts and bruises, I've had to see the doctors here more than a couple times after a match to make sure I didn't seriously injure myself...!" She took another deep breath. "...Another reasons is, my passions have always been for another sport!" She held her trusty-hockey-stick high above her head. "...And, I don't want to hurt myself so bad in L.A.W that I could never do this again, I've even been offered to join a local, adult recreational hockey team...!" She spoke with clear passion, clearly very excited about the idea. "...And I know you can't really sit on someone's face in Hockey, but, we all have to make sacrifices!" She cracked a joke to lighten things up a fair bit...!

"...And, I guess the final reason isn't really one I can explain, it's just a feeling, a feeling that now is the right time..." She paused to look at her hockey-stick. "...And, I know this is a-lot, trust me, it's a lot for me too, but, I'm not saying 'goodbye forever', I'm saying 'goodbye for now'...!" Gil perked up. "...Sorry to drop this all on your night of wresting fun, I didn't mean to pull a stunt like this, but it feels better to tell it to everyone like this, rather than via twitter, or something like that...!" She kicked her feet around, nervous about the reception, as the crowd hadn't really booed, or cheered. "...Well, I'll drop some good news on everyone to end this; As of February 16th, I'll be a full-time writer for L.A.W Magazine...!" She tapped her stick on the ground. "...And who knows, maybe I'll step back in the ring for special occasion here and there...!" Gil walked slightly forward, placing the microphone onto the canvas. "...One more match everyone, and it's a big one, here I come, Ducky...!" She slung her hockey-stick over her shoulder, then shot it forward, hitting the microphone like a puck and watching it sour through the arena, where it then collided with an overhang, and then crashed onto the floor, making an un-godly sound. "...Sorry DeFranco, I hope that's not too expensive to replace...!" The crowd roared, and Gil slid-out of the ring, skipping up the ramp, twirling to blow kisses to the arena before returning backstage, one more match in mind.
