What's Happenin'! with Amber Skye

Casey's face scrunched in confusion and a desire for even more coffee as she listened to Amber, nodding slowly a few times. "I see... I see... But first things first, I have in my notes that you won something called a LAWLESS Championship?" Looking skeptical, Kiernan leaned in, shaking her head. "You know that's not real, right? I mean, LAWLESS? There's no way they really named a title that. I mean, it has all the legitimacy as that Tum Tum Title that's always floating around by that intimidating girl with the frankly terrifying abdomen that I think may or may not have a tumor in it, and she should probably have it checked it out."

The lazy interviewer leaned back in her seat, tossing a couple note cards over her head and heaved a sigh. "We can all say we won a title. I could say I have the LAWMOST title, and that means I'm better than you, but that would imply that I would want to be rewarded for this sport which is a thought that horrifies me to my core."

Waving her hand and throwing more note cards aside, Casey pursed her lip, looking at another. "But presuming that all of these imaginary accolades you made up for yourself are real... Do you really think that you're the first person to say all of that about Vanessa I. Price? I mean, we saw what Grace Kenning had to say and she may be seven feet tall and has a good pedigree to her also. And then all of a sudden... Well, you can look it up at..." Casey squinted her eyes, looking at the card closer. "...Plug the LAW Streaming App?" Shrugging, Kiernan threw the card back and then said, "But you get what I'm saying, right? That you aren't the first person to say all of these things about Vanessa I. Price? How does that make you different?"

Casey gave Amber the floor once more before waving to someone off stage, pointing at her cup of coffee before waving it at them and nodding affirmatively with a big smile. Begrudgingly, they took her cup of coffee away from her discreetly.

“Tum Tum?” Amber’s anger at her only title win being called illegitimate was deflated by the confusion that followed Cassie’s latest topic. The slow understanding of what those words meant only started to come to her once she out the rest of her words together and had to deduce she was talking about Kyoko Akan and her fake belt. Her anger was reignited at the revelation that the LAWless belt was being compared to a fake belt made by a salty loser offended by everything and she would point grip her chair while leaning towards Casey. “How can you compare the two? Mine’s real and you can look it up on LAW’s website or any official advertising! That’s why I got to Apex without qualifiers, something that actually fake Tummy belt can’t do for anyone!” Amber was aware that she might be inviting trouble talking down about a belt made by someone who took things personally. At least if she came for her she would come for Casey too. Hopefully she’d get her first. Right now her focus was on Apex and more importantly on her Vanessa. She had knocked down a few people to get this far I saw her beating girls like Angelina and Grace, as Casey managed to mention and sound for once like someone in her station was supposed to sound like. “I don’t know if anyone said they wouldn’t underestimate. I just know that in her match with Grace she got lucky. They’ll both of her big matches were torture rack matches where no matter how much she took the match wouldn’t end until someone was strapped to those things. Grace had her beat if she didn’t need to put her on that and her match with Angelina only ended when she hit with a finisher against the rack. That tells me that she needs the rack to overcome people like me. As tough as she is that ego she has is a big weakness. She’ll waste time trying to make me pay for any slights and I’ll be focused on winning while she has to remember that in a standard match she has rules she has to follow. Nothing will distract me from winning which means there’s nothing in my way besides a big V-I-C-T-O-R-Y for Apex Amber!” With that she flexed and even kissed her fists knowing she planned to knock out VIP and let her wake up to the sight of her being crowned the champion of LAW’s finest.

Casey Kiernan listened to Amber Skye defend the legitimacy of the LAWLESS Championship. She didn't buy it still. It just seemed entirely too farfetched. And then she told her she could look it up--doing that kind of research was just completely unreasonable to Casey as well.

And when Amber discussed how she'll beat VIP and succeed where others failed, Kiernan pursed her lips, looking a little thoughtful as she took it all in. Not because she cared, necessarily, but it gave her an easy follow up to close this thing up on. When the cheerleader finished speaking, Casey would lean over her chair, setting her coffee down as she looked Skye in the eyes.

"...I can't believe you actually spelled that out," stated Casey bluntly, waiting for a beat before speaking again. "But you are telling me and the people who watch this for some reason that you, Amber Skye, are different. You can succeed where others haven't. You can beat VIP because you can take advantage of her ego, and she won't get lucky with you, and you won't get distracted. Sure. All valid reasons. Right?"

Then, Kiernan leaned in closer, giving her a more piercing look. "So then what happens if you lose? What happens if when you get put up there against Vanessa I. Price, you talk a big game, you say you're better than the rest that she's beaten, and you are going to get in there and win that title... That you don't make it happen? You end up just like everyone else who lost to her, or you fall short like so many have and will continue to lose in these Apex Matches? What then?" Casey posed the question, keeping her eyes on Amber and awaiting her response, giving her a rather significant one to end on.

“I got people fired up. Like your coffee does for you.” Amber was almost done with this and she was happy. That meant she didn’t have to worry about bothering Casey with her questions, it was obvious that nothing would bother the lazy interviewer too much so long as she got coffee. “Round of applause people! Casey can listen!” Amber clapped without waiting to see if anyone else did. She couldn’t hide how happy she was that this whole thing felt like it was almost over. That is until Casey cut deep and asked a simple question of being the loser at Apex. Or just being someone else who failed like everyone else will? Amber straightened up and her smile was quickly erased by the frown and glare. “I-” Amber stuttered for a second wondering why she would be asked that and really not looking to face a time where this happened. The thought of VIP becoming the Openweight champion by beating her was now on her mind and how she would have to live with that. Even if she won the belt later it wouldn’t change anything. Because on the day it mattered most the belt was procured because she was weak. “I won’t let that happen. It can’t happen so it’s not even worth thinking about!”

Casey Kiernan kept an unflappable gaze on Amber, seeing her cheerful reaction disappear as the cheerleader listened to her question, laying it all out. The doubt she expected there, above bravado. The uncertainty that Amber Skye had begun to consider, perhaps hiding it in the back of her mind, not opening it out of fear or a desire to ensure that never happen. But it got the desired reaction Casey had wanted. Bumbling through the entire interview, listening to everything Amber had to say, and ultimately, it led to this one simple question she could close on--the one that everyone would have cared about.

The reaction meant more than the words could, and Casey Kiernan listened to Skye mention it wouldn't happen, and it wasn't worth thinking about. And the interviewer smiled before leaning back, shrugging. "Well, you heard it here everyone! Amber Skye is not thinking about loss... because it will not happen," stated Casey, taking her coffee once more. "This has been... whatever positive spin you want to put on this experience. And the only negative as far as I can tell is that it is coming to a close. Thank you, Cheryl, once more for helping me get through my work day. This is Casey Kiernan signing out!" With a wave with her free hand, she looked to the camera and said, "And that's what's happenin'!"

Keeping her smile fixed on the camera, she waited until it had turned off before instantly frowning and letting out a labored sigh. "...I was once on the top of the pyramid in my cheer squad. They dropped me and I had a had a broken wrist. I wish you hadn't reminded me of that," said Casey before taking another long sip of coffee, standing and leaving before even her guest did.
