Raise the Stakes

Unread post by winner3 »

In the weeks that followed We Are LAW 4, fallout from the PPV was abound. The conclusion of a major LAW event was always a big deal. Coverage came in the form of LAW Magazine articles, clips from matches being posted all across social media, buzz and discussion happening by word of mouth by fans and wrestlers alike. But perhaps the most interesting and exciting prospect of seeing the results from any wrestling PPV, let alone the premier wrestling company LAW, was seeing the effect it had on the wrestlers and their careers following each event.

And tonight during a big segment near the very end of this week's LAW show, "Super Kitty" Katherine Hart would be making an appearance to give the world of wrestling insight on her status and goals following the PPV event despite needing several more weeks to fully heal.
Katherine Hart
Entrance Music

The crowd was practically set ablaze with cheers as LAW's famed Super Kitty's music hit! The champion walked through the curtain and posed triumphantly on the stage, much to the delight of the fans in attendance and the fans watching at home! She wore her world tag team championship belt over one shoulder, and on the other, she wore white athletic tape to help ease the pain she felt from the shoulder injury she sustained in her encounter with the previous challengers for the title. Although all 3 Ashfords did her in, it was wrestling veteran Dana Ashford that did the deed, with the help of her daughters!

Kat would make her way down the ramp, high-fiving fans and even stopping to hug one of the little girls in the crowd that wore a Super Kitty mask. As Kat made her way to the ring, LAW commentators and announcers would discuss her vast array of accomplishments. Having just come off a huge win, Kat and The SWAT Cats retained their tag titles and their status as active champions. Having already had a legacy that contended with legends, Kat was very much becoming a legend in her own right! It wasn't just the fans that were receptive to the beloved heavyweight luchadora, but the staff at ringside, everyone from the camera crew to the security guard seemed to love The Super Kitty!

Thanks to this, it was easy for her to procure a live microphone. The buxom, toned masked beauty would slide into the ring and pop up to her feet to take her place in the center and get down to business!

"Thank you! Everyone! Truly! I want to extend thanks to every fan and every person that cheered to see The SWAT Cats come out on top at We Are LAW. I want to extend a special thanks to the guys around this ring and the guys in the back that keep this company afloat and make it possible for teams like The SWAT Cats to continue proving to everyone around the world that we have the greatest tag division in the world! And right at the very top of that division are myself and my partners, who I also have to thank!" The good vibes the tag champion was putting out earned a round of applause not just for the show of good faith, but for the men and women Kat had extended thanks to all over the arena. When it finally died down, The Super Kitty would continue.

"Tracy and Aurora, I don't know where I'd be in LAW without you guys! I love you both and come what may, no matter who comes after us, no matter how banged up I get, I will continue to live the dream and defend these belts with you with all that I have in classic match after classic match until the day we have to part with these belts, but let me tell you, if you saw our match with the Ashfords, you better believe that that day ain't coming anytime soon!" Kat would hold her belt up high in a show of pride in her and her tag partner's ability to come this far with them!

The crowd would react with praise for a few moments before Kat took her place in the middle of the ring again, albeit this time with different body language. She paced slowly. Her facial expression grew more serious, more solemn.

"And as much as I'd like to live it up a bit more with everyone tonight....before I can do that in good conscience, there is something that I have to extend that isn't thanks. I have an apology to extend to two of the challengers we faced at the pay-per-view." Suddenly, feelings of intrigue spread throughout the LAW arena. Interests were peaked. Kat would gesture towards the entrance ramp and to the cameras as she went on to explain.

"Toni and Mara Ashford. I owe you two an apology."

"Now, please let me explain. I'm not too jazzed about the stunt you pulled. We laid out an open challenge and you guys, with the help of your mom, sneak attacked up, laid us out, and capitalized on an earnest attempt at an open title challenge. No, I didn't enjoy any of that but I'm gonna do my due diligence. Right now, this isn't about me complaining. I do genuinely feel I owe you both an apology."

"You see towards the end of our match, I got particularly heated. Emotions ran high and somewhere between having my team's titles threatened and my own career and livelihood threatened, we had some words about your mother, Dana. Now, I don't think there's any mistaking it. Dana, by the admission of both her daughters, is a vile woman. And the relationship that you, her daughters, share with her is dysfunctional at best."

"But somewhere along the line, I made the mistake of saying that your mother isn't proud of you. That she'd never be proud of you. By allowing myself to get caught up in the moment, I genuinely believed that Dana used you two as a means to an end."

"Now, I'll be the first to admit that I overstepped. I've been called "hero" by a lot of people in this industry, by fans and wrestlers alike, heck, your mother called the SWAT Cats "heroes" while jumping us for our belts. But I'd like to think that a big part of why I'm well-liked as a wrestler, dare I say as a hero, is because of my moral compass."

"And it's that same moral compass that's compelling me to make this public apology. No matter how twisted or unconventional the relationship between the Ashfords is, I don't have the right to say that your mother isn't proud of you. And it was wrong of me to even think that she didn't love you. And for that, if it's not too much trouble, I'd like to ask you both. Toni, Mara, if you could come down to the ring so that I can apologize to your faces like a big girl should, and shake your hands so that we can see eye to eye on something and put any of those feelings behind us, at least."

From the sound of it, it seemed that Katherine was expecting both the Ashford sisters to come out to respond to her words and receive her apology, but what happened next was something different entirely. The one who stepped out wasn't any of the sisters, but the matriarch of the Ashford family herself, Dana Ashford. Unlike usual, Dana wasn't in her signature leotard as she was dressed in white dress shirt and blue skirt. She even fashioned her hair differently, though her sheer presence still indicated that she was still indeed Dana Ashford, the Smiling Demon.

The crowd reacted to her appearance by throwing their boos and cheers at her, which was typical for Dana. In her hand was a microphone, so there was no doubt that she was going to address the masked wrestler in the ring. At first, she stayed at the ramp for a bit, so the people in the arena expected her to speak to Katherine from the ramp, but then, she made her way down to the ring, seemingly going to enter the ring and join Katherine inside. All the while, she had her signature smile on her face.

"Well, well, well~" Dana began as she stood tall in the ring, standing a few feet away from Katherine as she addressed her. "Now this is interesting..." Dana spoke to Katherine, amusement clear in her tone. "How predictably heroic of you to apologize for one slightly mean comment that you made at the heat of the moment. I know that you thought it wasn't right. It was a wrong thing to say, so you wanted to make it right by apologizing to my daughters. But, aren't you forgetting something really important?"

"You made that comment based on an assumption that I am a bad mother. That I am using my daughters as a mean to an end. Well, for an outsider, it's understandable that you could come up with that assumption." Dana tilted her head as she continued, "After all, I am a vile woman. My villainy knows no bound. I know all sorts of dirty tricks in the book that I might as well be writing it. But let's not mistake Dana the Wrestler with Dana the Mother, okay? I love my daughters, and I'm sure they love me as well. It's only natural for them to grow up admiring their mother."

"I know what you and many others are thinking. You think my daughters could use a better role model. Someone like you or Alaina. But let's not forget that I am a very successful woman with an illustrious career. My dominance can only be rivalled by a few. There's no wonder they end up admiring me, a self-made woman who forged her own path in this cutthroat industry." Dana stepped closer to Katherine. "At the end, the only thing that matters for a professional wrestler is that they are successful, regardless whether they are a hero or a villain."

"And I want my daughters to succeed, regardless of the paths they will take. Someone like you can understand that, right?"

Re: Raise the Stakes

To the surprise of The Super Kitty and the surprise of everyone in the arena and viewers at home, it wasn't Mara or Toni that answered the tag champion, but The Matriarch of the family, Dana Ashford, herself!

Kat eyed The Smiling Demon curiously from the ring. It seemed that the world was seeing a prim and proper Dana Ashford tonight. Something that was perhaps unprecedented at LAW. Dana was always quite the voluptuous and attractive woman. There was no doubt that her current appearance and outfit would be shared and discussed at length worldwide. But even dressed more clerically and professionally like this, there was no mistaking who she was. Everything from her signature devilish grin to the massive air of confidence and superiority that she carried herself with distinguished her even among top wrestlers in this company and the world. The fans recognized Dana right away and reacted to her with a range of reactions from cheers to boos to whistles and everything in between.

Dana stood on the stage for a moment, allowing anticipation to grow, allowing the fans and commentators to discuss why she chose to interject here when Katherine had called to make amends with her daughters. Some suspected that Dana would accept on their behalf. After all, she wasn't dressed to wrestle. And for a time, it didn't even seem like she had any intention to meet The Super Kitty in the ring. But after allowing the audience to get their fill of her, The Matriarch made her way down the ramp and into the ring! A meeting between these two top LAW ladies would finally be underway!

When Dana looked to enter the ring, Kat would sit on the middle rope and use her arm and shoulder to widen the gap between the middle rope and the top rope to welcome Dana inside. Despite the surprise turn of events, Hart seemed excited. She focused her attention on Dana, returning the woman's devious smile with a sincere but very confident smile of her own. With the two heavyweight wrestlers now in the same ring together, Kat adjusted her belt over her shoulder as she listened to her newest rival stand tall and speak with all the command and all the presence Dana had come to be known for.

As Dana focused her attention on Kat, the luchadora nodded. Despite what had transpired between the two of them and their tag teams, despite being in a position where many wrestlers would take umbrage and seek confrontation with Dana if they were Kat, Hart's words and body language didn't communicate any animosity or ill will towards Dana. Hart paused for a moment after hearing Dana's question. She contemplated her response for a moment before bringing her mic up to her mouth to speak.

"Yeah...yeah, I can absolutely understand that." Hart began.

"As a self-made woman in this industry, myself, I take great pride and care in being someone that most everyone can look to as a role model. Call it boring, call it predictable, but being a "hero" means being a little predictable sometimes." Hart would finish with a playful wink.

"It means taking the high road where I can. It means owning up and apologizing whenever I cross the line. And it means standing up to a woman that's every bit as cutthroat as she claims this great sport is, isn't that right, Dana?" The crowd reacted as Kat stepped towards Dana, getting almost face to face with her as The Super Kitty asserted herself by asking a question that was really more of a statement. Kat quickly backed up, though, seemingly not wanting to escalate things further, at least not yet.

"Oh, but I'm getting ahead of myself. You said a lot of relevant things. And we have a lot of business to work through, don't we, Dana? I originally wanted to hash things out with Mara and Toni but don't think I wasn't going to get to you." Kat wagged her finger at the taller, older woman.

"Toni and Mara are good wrestlers. They're the newest members of the Ashford dynasty. No matter who they look up to or who they take after, whether it's myself or one of the other SWAT Cats, whether it's Alaina's Sanders or Astrid Ostberg, they have all the tools they need to become a massive success in this industry no matter who they look up to. Heck, they have you in their corner!"

"You, the illustrious Dana Ashford! A woman who's much more complex than I am. I think you said it best. You broke it down real well. Dana Ashford the Mother and Dana Ashford the wrestler...." Kat trailed off, tilting her head and pausing before continuing.

"I'm not gonna pretend to be even the least bit qualified to speak on Dana the Mother. If you feel I owe you an apology as a mother, you'll have it, for sure."

"But before we get there. Let's talk about Dana the Wrestler!"

"Dana the Wrestler knows exactly what she wants. She has quite the legacy and while I might not agree with the way you go about things, while I might not like that you're a vile woman, I can at least say that I respect you and the legacy you've carved into this industry. I do. Even after the stunts you pulled at the pay-per-view, I can't deny your legacy and your experience and all you've accomplished both in this company and outside of it. You have a place in pro wrestling history. No one can deny that."

"You did write the book on villainous tricks in wrestling and while I don't respect that book or the things in it...I still respect you, Dana." Kat looked Dana in the eye as she said this. One look at the buxom luchadora's face would tell you that she meant every word. She paused for a moment, allowing the audience to cheer and co-sign The Super Kitty's thoughts here.

"But let's cut the crap. Last time....the very first time I met you in a LAW ring you were ambushing me and my best friends, Lariating me in the back of the head, laying us out all around the arena...." The crowd booed as Katherine recalled the fateful events of that night. She paused but she would soon collect herself and continue.

"You know, I've been doing this a long time. Not as long as you, of course. But I've been wrestling in the pro ring for about 11 long years....and I know that people like you don't come out here to exchange pleasantries, even with other decorated wrestlers like myself."

"The last time I met you, it was cause you wanted this. You wanted the LAW World Tag Team Championships!" Kat would take her belt in her good arm and hold it up high, drawing massive approval and cheers from the crowd.

"So tell me.... because despite all the respect I have for you I do have an ax to grind with you and you better believe we'll get there!"

"But first tell me, what does Dana Ashford, The Smiling Demon of the Ring want from the face of this company, The Super Kitty?"

"I'd love to know because you didn't come out here dressed like you came to finish the job. You look like you dressed up to take me out on a little date."
Kat finished by bending forward and looking up at Dana with a raised eyebrow.

Dana listened to Katherine, still retaining the smile on her face. She made sure to put her attention on the masked wrestler before her, nodding her head as she took notes on her points. And once Katherine was finished, Dana decided to address the fact that she was wearing a shirt and a skirt instead of the normal wrestling outfit. "Well, I do look ravishing in these, don't you think?" Dana joked as she twirled around, showing off the clothes that she wore for this occasion.

"But believe me when I say I want to finish what I started. Just not tonight. Hence why I'm wearing these." Dana explained. "Tonight, I just want to talk. To get my points across. And I'm sure everyone is curious about why I did all those things to you." She motioned to the audience watching the show. "Well, simply put... it's because I want to. I just want to see what's going to happen if I tangle with Katherine Hart, the face of this company. You see, Kat, by becoming the face of this company, you paint a very large target on your back, and that makes you a perfect quarry for me."

"That's what you are to me. A quarry to hunt down. A stepping stone for me that will allow me to reach a new height. Regardless of what you have accomplish, you will become another one whom I have to step on in order to achieve greatness. Make no mistake, though. I'm not belittling you or anything. In fact, I have great respect in you. Which is why I decided to target you over anyone else. Just imagine, Kat... me defeating you. Imagine what your supporters will feel upon seeing me standing over your broken body victoriously and triumphantly..."

Dana tipped her head slightly, allowing her face to be shadowed a little, which made quite an effect of making her motherly smile seem more sinister.

"What will they feel upon seeing their hero in great pain after I injure her shoulder again? Seeing someone they look up to be broken down mercilessly in the middle of the ring, I'm sure they'll feel despair. Perhaps I could even leave such lasting damage that their hero may not be able to wrestle again? Imagine that, Kat. That's what it means to be a stepping stone." She lifted her head, her sinister demeanor gone. "Not that being a stepping stone is a bad thing. In fact, I fully expect myself to be a stepping stone for others as well."

"Perhaps one day some hopeful youngsters decide to use me as a stepping stone to elevate themselves, and I'm perfectly fine with it. In fact, I won't even be surprised if any of my children want to use me as a stepping stone. If they have what it takes to become greater, they're free to try."

Re: Raise the Stakes

Dana and Kat played off one another quite well. As Dana twirled gracefully to show off her fetching outfit, Kat would nod and clap with her in agreement. The Super Kitty motioned to the fans in attendance and beckoned them to join in. Everyone applauded as Ashford stunted in front of the crowd.

"You do, you do! I could never pull off the esteemed and formal look like you can! This company oughta make a fashion line or two after you."

But the air of seriousness returned once Dana began to speak once more. This rivalry saw both women entertain one another, but the fact was that they were undeniably two do the top wrestlers in the company, and that this rivalry had serious implications for the both of them and possibly for LAW as a whole!

When Dana resumed, Kat brought her focus and attention back to the mature woman. The legendary luchadora locked eyes with Dana. She listened carefully to The Matriarch's words. She nodded at points. Particularly when Dana had mentioned that Kat had a target painted on her back, that she was prime quarry for The Matriarch to hunt down.

The mood darkened as Dana went into great detail. Kat's mouth opened a bit as Dana's expression darkened. A countenance of concern and worry emerged on The Super Kitty's face and in her eyes. These were the words of a woman who had every intention of making good on her words. The words that Kat and everyone else in attendance and watching at home were hearing were the words of a woman who had clearly done this before. And that fact separated Dana from the vast majority of women who made similar threats in wrestling. The things she wanted to do to Kat were things she had experience with, things you could say she's accomplished even at LAW. This message from Ashford was no idle threat.

What's more, Dana's delivery was genuine. The darkness she spoke with in her tone of voice, the things she said she wanted to do to Kat and how she was going to go about doing them; these words were all said with a distinctly sinister, sadistic, and genuine grin on her face.

Kat could tell this was no mere act. These were Dana's honest feelings.

When Dana's more amicable demeanor returned, Hart let out a small sigh. Adjusted her belt over her shoulder and continued focusing her attention on her huntress, this time with a contemplative look in her eyes. Dana finished with the notion that everyone becomes a stepping stone eventually, even her.

Kat reacted to this by raising her eyebrows. Commentators deliberated Dana's words as she finished. Kat took a few seconds to ready her mic and lift it to speak.

"That was heavy, Dana. But I appreciate you being honest and straightforward with me about what you want. I do hate tricks. I do hate lies and I'm happy we can cut the fat and get right to it." Kat would smile. Her usual signature smile and air of confidence returned as the luchadora spoke.

"That last part you finished with...." Hart lifted her index finger

"In a way, it's kinda wholesome, I guess. You're looking to climb high. You're looking to ascend as high as you possibly can so that the next generation, maybe even Mara and Toni can usurp you. Ascend past you and go higher and see even greater heights than you and I."

"It's a novel idea. Might happen someday, who knows?"
The Super Kitty shrugged.

"But let's talk about today, Dana. Let's talk about where we are here and now." Kat would point downward towards the ring itself.

"You shared your outlook with me and with the world and I should probably do the same. Like I said at the beginning, I was always planning to call you out to the ring or confront you wherever, if not tonight then later but after the things you did to me and to my team- my friends, it was always gonna happen."

"Now, don't get me wrong. I've been jumped before. Quite a lot, actually."

"At LAW? Happens almost every week. But it's exactly like you said. When you're a champion, when you're the face of this company, when people look up to you and model their success and their careers after your own, you become a target."

"You see me as a stepping stone! 99 percent of the ladies in the locker room see me as just that! As. Their. Stepping. Stone!"
Kat would point to the entrance ramp, towards the backstage area.

"Of course, I'm good with that. On some level, you're right. That's the cycle of this industry. Building up your own success by taking down the women and the wrestlers that are ahead of you in line, the ones that are further up the mountain...."

"You'll think it predictable of me and you'll think it's cheesy, but I don't see you quite the same way you see me. If you'll forgive me for being overly heroic, do you wanna know how I saw our relationship? I thought we were more than just quarry to each other, Dana. I thought we were rivals..." The crowd would react with sounds of intrigue and interest, a few fans even clapped.

"Shoot, I still think we are. We have respect for each other. Enough that I understand where you were coming from at Fight The LAW. I might not agree with the way you went about it, but you stole the show and between The Ashfords and The SWAT Cats, we put on the best wrestling match of that whole pay-per-view! I wouldn't be surprised to learn we gave you the best tag match of your careers!"

"Heh....I'm not mad about any of that, Dana."
Hart's face and tone grew more serious. She looked down for a second as if to recount the events of that night in her head before she locked eyes with Dana and gestured to set a scene and relive those moments.

"You know, you painted quite the picture for all of us. You'll come after me in a match and look to make good on your threats and make it a reality...but let me paint you a picture if you'll let me. Trust me, given that sadistic streak of yours, you're gonna like this."

"Let me tell you why I want to another match with Dana Ashford. Let me tell you why I have an ax to grind with you..."

"New Champions. Inaugural. World. Tag. Team Champions.....Pay-per-view debut."

"The fans are gonna remember it fondly and for parts of it, I do, too. But you wanna know what my strongest memory of that night is? You wanna know what's gonna stick with me for the rest of my career?"
Kat looked up and into the eyes of the taller woman. Her tone grew heavy and genuine. The fans and viewers could tell that The Super Kitty

"It's the two minutes or so before the match actually started. You and your daughters cracked me in the skull with our tag team titles. You pulled me up and got into position. You gave me The Sword of Damocles through a table. You laid me out pretty good." Kat nodded.

"The medics and referees swarmed in. They told me that my shoulder was shot. That I was in no shape to compete. No shape to defend the tag titles. My tag partners, Tracy and Aurora rushed to my side with looks of sadness in their eyes that I won't soon forget."

"You put me in a position where I had to choose between letting the match kick off as a 3-on-2 handicap match or letting The SWAT Cats be sidelined our first pay-per-view as champions." Kat pointed at Dana.

"And as I laid there in the wreckage of that table, as I watched Mara, Toni, and you take your places in your corner and begin the match, as I watched Tracy and Aurora get forced into a situation where they had to start defending the biggest accolade we've won since we got here, as I laid there helpless seeing you successfully engineered a situation where the defending champions were made to look like lambs being herded to their slaughter...."

"I don't think I've ever in my life and in my career felt like less a champion to the people, and less of an anchor and an ace for my team than I did in that exact moment!!!"
Hart roared and the crowd roared in response.

"For several moments, you were this close to making that twisted fantasy of yours a reality. This close to destroying The SWAT Cats in our very first title defense and upstaging us by ending our title reign before it ever really got started...." After the reactions died down, she gave pause for several seconds, long enough to let it hang there and to let her thoughts and words sink in.

"Thank God....thank goodness that's not the whole story, is it, Dana?" Once again, Hart's confidence returned to her, this time in full force! The fire in her voice and in her eyes was palpable as she looked up into The Matriarch's eyes once more!

"It's not the whole story because when you took me out before the match, all you really did was light a fire under me!"

"It's not the whole story because I will never let you or anyone else undermine my best friends, myself, or a LAW Championship like that so long as I can help it!"

"It's not the whole story because The SWAT Cats dug deep and worked together to find a way to overcome you and your daughters together when it mattered the most! It's not the whole story because we proved ourselves worthy champions and we...RETAINED!!!"
Kat finished by holding her belt up high overhead with one hand. She began to assert herself and raise her voice!

"Dana Ashford!" Hart would call out.

"On that night, you said that the heroes would lose and that the villains would win! And no matter how dishonored I feel by your actions then, the fact if the matter is, you were wrong!"

"You said you wanted to see what would happen if you tangoed with The Super Kitty, but you already found out! The fact of the matter is that you tried it! And that you and your daughters! Lost!"

"The fact of the matter is that if I were a lesser woman, I'd revel in the spoils of my victory and say there's no more business between us but that's simply not true."

"There is a score to settle because I've already proven you wrong before. And nothing will bring me the peace I need to put Fight The LAW behind me until I prove you wrong again."

"You want to injure me? Utterly dominate and humiliate me?! You want to cut my career short in front of every fan and every supporter I have? In front of any wrestler that looks up to me? In front of the whole world? You want to crush me beneath your heel like the stepping stone that you think I am for you?!"

"Then name your match, Dana! Any place you want! Any time you want! Any stipulation you want!"

"Name your match and I'll count the days and the minutes until I get the chance to crush your fantasy and show you and the world once more that "Super Kitty" isn't just a nickname."

Dana listened carefully to Katherine's words, nodding a few times. All the while, she maintained the amiable expression on her face, not changing it even as the masked wrestler started getting heated with her words. Ah, to be young again. Seeing how passionate the luchadora was as she delivered her speech, Dana was reminded again of why she loved professional wrestling in the first place.

Both Dana and Katherine had elevated themselves to greatness through their deeds in the squared circle. They were giants in this industry, an industry so cutthroat that there were many who were trampled underfoot to become stepping stones for these giants to reach greatness. Of course, Dana thought bigger. She wasn't interested in trampling down those who were insignificant, not anymore.

She wanted to topple down her fellow giants. It was the only way for Dana to reach a new height. To elevate herself further beyond. It was Dana's desire, and she would do anything to accomplish that, even if she had to dismantle and destroy another giant, Katherine Hart, in her effort to reach a new height.

Now that Katherine had finished, ending her speech by telling Dana to name the match, where and when the match would be held and what stipulation she would like for this match, Dana looked at the luchadora before she spoke, "I understand. If anything, I appreciate your gusto. To be this driven to prove me wrong, it's quite impressive."

"However, there is something that I'd like to clarify. About me considering you as my quarry and not my rival. Yes, I do respect you, and I'm sure that you are more than qualified to be my rival. Still, like I said before, you are to become my stepping stone. I want to move past you after leaving you broken and destroyed. I want to become even greater than what I am now, and that requires me to treat you as nothing but a roadblock, an obstacle for me to overcome."

"Also, as you can see, I'm old. I'm not sure how long I can keep this up. So, I have no desire to see the last years of my career revolving around my rivalry with you. I'm sure there are so many girls out there I need to crush after you. Putting all my attentions to you would be rather counterproductive to my effort to be the greatest, don't you think?"

"But don't worry too much about me not considering you my rival, okay? If anything, if you manage to give a good show for everyone, you will be remembered as someone who provides the biggest obstacle for Dana Ashford in her effort to achieve greatness, and you should be proud of that. And yes, you will be trampled underfoot, may probably not recover from that, but it will be the greatest thing to happen in your life, whether you like it or not."

"As for the match... well, I'm thinking that we should have an Apex qualifier match for this one. That'd make this quite big deal, don't you think? I want to face you, next week, in a no holds barred match. And the loser will become the prisoner of war for twenty four hours. And..." Dana looked at the belt. "If I win, I will take that pretty thing on your shoulder." She pointed at the belt.

"You will still remain a tag-team champion, of course, assuming that you're still one at that point. But any physical reminder of your ownership over the belt will be taken away from you. What do you think, Katherine Hart? Can you imagine? A tag-team champion without the belt to prove it? It would be very humiliating..." Dana got her points across, and the crowd booed her, though their displeasure only made Dana's smile grow wider.

Re: Raise the Stakes

Unread post by winner3 »

Perhaps this was the exact moment Dana was waiting for. That was the thought in Katherine's head as Dana named her stipulations one after another.

The clarifications that preceded the actual challenge Ashford laid out put a smile on the luchadora's face. And this smile made it all the more jarring when Kat's expression and body language transitioned to a loon of shock and concern!

Boos filled the arena as Dana set her terms. Katherine and perhaps everyone else expected such a challenge to be delivered with a tone of vitriol and anger. But Dana's calm yet sadistic tone of voice, that smile that persisted as she spoke each word- the experience and confidence she spoke with saw Kat physically recoil and her blue eyes widen visibly!

The crowd continued to react for about half a minute, and in that time, Kat slowly corrected her posture. She looked around the arena contemplatively for a moment before returning her gaze to Dana. The tag team champion's countenance showed that she was still mulling this over. She lifted her finger to speak...only to retract it. It was extremely rare to see Katherine Hart, the face of the company looking this concern, let alone see her be at a loss for words like this!

Regardless, Hart would power through and lift her mic to her face. She had already told Dana to name her match so backing out now was simply not an option! Not if she wanted to right the wrongs Dana had subjected her to!

"Heh...." Kat began.

"You really are a vile woman....." This statement drew the crowd towards The Super Kitty's side once more! And as sounds of cheers and support came back to the arena, Kat's own sincere and confident smile returned to her as well!

"It's like I said earlier, Dana. We've both been doing this a long time, yeah? Long enough to know what an obvious trap looks like."

"Lemme ask these good people. You heard her stipulations! The match Dana's laid out for me! Should I accept it?!"
Fans all over the arena crossed their arms in a "no" gesture while starting a "no" chant.

"Yeah, that's what the smart money says! But why don't we review just how raw a deal she's giving me?" Kat would say before turning her attention from the crowd to Dana. Kat raised a finger for each stipulation Dana had laid out as she went through them.

"You wanna wrestle me next week! You want me while I'm still fresh, while I'm still supple, while I'm still healing! You're already a challenge for any woman on this roster, myself included, even when I'm at 100 percent. I can only imagine the look of glee and satisfaction you'll have on that pretty face of yours if you get your hands on me and make me wrestle you while I'm hurt."

"Dana Ashford wants me in a No Holds Barred Match! She wants to have free reign to do anything she wants to me! You've already proven what you can do to me when you get the drop on me. That's why I have this tape on my shoulder to begin with."

"She wants a POW stipulation on top of all that....!"

"I can't even begin to imagine what twisted ideas you have in mind for me if you win. I know you're adding that just to continue to assert yourself over me in all the ways you described! You want nothing but a complete and total victory! You want to subject me to every form of domination and humiliation that you can, don't you, Dana? Which brings us to the last point."
Kat would hold her golden championship belt in her arm by the faceplate. The straps would hang as the busty luchadora held the belt between herself and Dana and looked down at the belt. The cameras zoomed in on the belt, on Kat, ok Dana....

"If I lose, you want to hang onto this and strip me of the symbol of one of my greatest accomplishments at this company. You want to claim one of the tag titles for the remainder of my run as a tag team champion...just to make it sting for my entire title run. No, you want to rub my face in it and make sure that I remember- that the world remembers what you do to me for the rest of my career...."

"And on top of all of that, you aim to use that humiliation, you plan to use what you wanna do to me, you plan to use me as a stepping stone in your quest...towards the greatest prize in pro wrestling, towards The LAW World Openweight Championship by making this match an Apex Qualifier Match....did I get all that right, Dana?" Once again, the crowd and viewers at home were vocal about their dismay and their disapproval of the match Dana was proposing. Once again, that foreboding and ominous feeling overcame the arena.

"Heh!" Hart smiled as she slung her belt back over her shoulder. She closed her eyes for just a second before once again locking eyes with the mature woman and finding her confidence yet again!

"I guess on some level, I should feel honored, right? I'm sure some part of you is thinking that. I'm sure your daughters, your many Shadow Fortress students, and some of the wrestlers watching this- I'm sure that's what some of you are thinking. I've never seen Dana gun for anyone like this. For you to pull out all the stops like this, for you to indulge in every advantage and every opportunity you can muster like a huntress that refuses to let her quarry turn the tables on her. It's weird. But I can tell that some of it is coming from a place of respect. You've laid quite the trap. Something tells me that if I were anybody else, you wouldn't be stacking the deck this hard, would you Dana?" Kat's grin grew wider as she continued to make eye contact.

"I mean, you had this planned down to an exact science. You knew exactly what you were going to ask me for before you even came out here! You know my type well enough. A true "hero" would have certainly challenged you to a match seeking redemption after the tag title match we had. You just had to bait me into it. If I had to guess, with all these stipulations, you probably had this planned from the moment Apex was announced. Maybe even from the moment our last match ended!"

"But we're here now. I told you to name your match and you did. For me to double back now would betray everything I've done as a tag team champion until now! Tracy, Aurora, and I have been defending these belts time after time after time in matches of our opponent's design!"

"As a matter of fact, you had the exact same opportunity there! The Ashford Family named their stipulations in our last meeting! The Ashford Family had already stacked the deck to the ceiling! And we won! I won!"

"So the way I see it now I've already proven I can more than hang with you when you stack the deck to the ceiling, so what do I care if you stack it to the sky?! If you want every opportunity to crush Katherine Hart underfoot! If you want to cement your legacy by making me your greatest hunt on your rise to glory in your last hurrah as a pro wrestler, you've got it, Dana!!!"

"Just make sure that you don't make the same mistake twice! The last time you came for me, you let me get back up. And as long as I can move, for so long as I draw breath, I will make good on my promise, just like I did at Fight The LAW! You will never! Ever! Undermine a championship or my friends in this company ever again!"
The cheers and roars that picked up echoed with a deafening reverberation! Kat had rallied every man, woman, and while watching with all the fire and spirit in her energy, her posture, and her tone of voice.

As the cheers reached a fever pitch, Kat held out her hand for a handshake. Her expression was serious, but she raised her finger on her mic hand as if to add an addendum.

"But before you shake my hand and make this match official, Dana, there is just one thing we should go over. I have no problem wrestling you with things stacked in your favor. I have no problem wrestling you with all the chips down but....they're not all down, are they?"

"Your stipulations are harsh. But if I win, the only tangible thing that I get is the chance to ask you for fashion advice and career advice as I interview you for 24 hours."
Hart would chuckle.

"Even as an Apex Qualifier, it hardly does me any good, right? This belt of mine already qualifies me for a match at Apex. I'm wrestling in other Qualifier Matches to help give back to LAW. But in your case, if we're gonna raise the stakes, why not raise them all the way....?" Her curious question echoed in the hearts and minds of everyone watching this segment.

"You were the one that said you wanted to put on the best match and the best show possible when we first met. You were the one that wanted to see what would happen when you stepped to Katherine Hart."

"I wasn't joking when I said I wanted to give you the best tag match of your career and the most memorable singles match of your career. And the greatness you're seeking before you retire isn't something you can earn while you're pulling punches, Dana."
The determination in Kat's eyes grew as she kept her gaze fixed on her rival.

"If you make this an Apex match, there's a possibility that one of us could walk away from LAW Apex with two belts around her waist.....if you make this an Apex match...if you shake my hand....I will accept your terms!!!"

Re: Raise the Stakes

Dana tilted her head, listening to Katherine's response to the stipulations that she had named earlier. She had planned to make this an Apex qualifier match because she actually couldn't wait to get her hands on Katherine, but when she thought about it again, a little bit of waiting wouldn't hurt, because an Apex match would provide them with a much grander stage where she could show it to everyone what she was made of, and she would be able to use Katherine as a stepping stone for all to see.

"An Apex match, huh?" Dana said as she mulled over the luchadora's words. Her expression indicated that she was contemplating it, though the smile on her face also told everyone that she loved the prospect of humiliating Katherine Hart in such an event. "Hmm... I suppose you do have a point there..." She conceded as she faced the other woman. "Well, I guess I'll use this opportunity to play with another girl for the qualifier match, then." After saying that, Dana held out her hand, offering her handshake to Katherine.

There was no telling what was going to happen next. The audience had grown tense as they waited for what Dana would do after this as soon as the two of them shook hands. Dana could just shake Katherine's hand and be done with it, or she could catch Katherine off-guard by delivering a sneak attack out of nowhere, though for now, Dana seemed to be showing no sign of playing dirty, or at least for now. It was hard to tell. The smile on her face indicated that she knew that everyone was thinking that she might actually do that, and she seemed to be very amused by it.
