Showing the ropes (and something more) - For Galactic Thing

With some perfect timing the waitress interrupted the moment Salem and Anne were sharing just when it was at that point where it could have led anywhere. Two plates with delicious looking sandwiches and salad catching their attention and drawing it towards more mundane worries as it looked like both their stomachs rumbled in fury. Salem quickly came back to her cheerful self while she expressed her excitement and congratulated Anne on finding the place. “Glad you like it, but that means nothing until you’ve tasted it so dig in!” Following her own advice, the redhead would start munching her salad, her thoughts back to a more regular trail of thinking.

Salem came up with a pretty interesting topic of conversation concerning their wrestling personas. Anne smiled to herself since somehow thinking of wrestling stuff in a regular environment was funny for her. She started her explanation making a pause from her eating her salad. “It’s not like I have a heavy gimmick like those villains who are also a cat burglar or the heroes who also pose as knights. I didn’t have the mind to come up with those cool ideas, but my wrestling monicker and the overall flair comes from how I managed to take control of my life after some really rough years, so in a way I was reborn from the flames, hence the Blazing Phoenix!” At that point Anne let out a chuckle. “Sorry, I cannot help but find everything related to wrestling so… campy and funny. Don’t get me wrong, I mean it in a good way and I don’t want to disrespect my own career, but I just love everything involving it, how overly exaggerated everything looks: the moves, the attires, the narrative behind… I... I just love it and I'm living my best life now." Anne looked at nowhere with starry eyes, as if contemplating something deep within herself. "It is like some sort of world where things don’t have to be so serious. That doesn’t mean I’m not taking my matches seriously, of course, but what about you? What’s your deal when getting into a ring?”, she asked pointing at Salem with an empty fork, her mood back to her usual self.

The eager pinkette didn't need so much as a second sentence before she slammed the katsu sandwich into her open mouth. It was divine, the flavors rich and layered and making her eyes close to shut off the sense to allow more focus on her taste buds. By the end, she was far more relaxed, her mind's eye opened much wider thanks to the enlightening flavors of this particular sandwich. Well...at least in her mind. All Anne could see was Salem's eyes roll and her make a rather interesting noise that she quickly covered her mouth at. "S-Sorry...I'm very passionate about food."

Turning her focus to Anne, who began to speak in order to answer Salem's question. Her perspective was quite unique amongst those that the star had met in her time: someone who enjoyed the relaxation of the fictional world crafted by the flashy moves and bolder personalities, but didn't exactly absorbed into it as much as they did. It was something she could respect, and she had to admit herself that some of the people that she met in her time were rather...interesting. "Don't worry, I get you girl. I like to get into it a bit more than you seem to, but I love playing things up and being a bit extra! There's nothing better than watching the bright lights and hearing the cries of my US fans rooting for their Shooting Star~!" finishing her bite of food, she waved her hands to emphasize the title of her starry gimmick, a smile to match that almost twinkled like a star itself. "The whole star gimmick helps the high-flying type stuff, especially the naming! It took me like...3 weeks to come up with even a painfully average name for my signature before I took up this gimmick!"

Anne couldn’t help but chuckle when she witnessed Salem’s over the top enjoyment of her sandwich. One couldn’t deny that the Shooting Star was intense in most she did. Then the redhead started munching her own sandwich when it was the pinkette’s turn to go in detail about her monicker’s origins and how the Shooting Star came to be. Hearing Salem talk it was clear how she had a strong passion for what she did and how her relationship with wrestling was longer than the one Anne had. “Wow, it looks like you had to think about it, but in the end all that thinking paid well. It’s a cool name. Well-thought. You’re making mine look like a whim!”

For some instants Anne would just let the good ambience sink in as she remained silent while enjoying her sandwich before breaking silence again. “But enough of wrestling! I know, I know, it’s so cool and all that but in some way it’s work and we are in the middle of a weekend, so what does Salem do when she wants to have some fun?”, she asked in an energetic way.

With muffled laughter that was caused by the mouthful of food in her face hole, Salem nodded along to Anne's statement about their conversation. Whilst they were both wrestlers, who met through training for wrestlers, taking a break from practicing wrestling...maybe it was best they talk about something else. Salem took her own turn to first allow the silence to come in as well, although it was mostly to get a few more bites of the lovely food in front of her in. It was hard to split her focus from such satisfying goodies and the rich conversation, but she managed.

"Honestly? Not much! Wrestling has been the majority of my life for a while, but I'm not completely boring! laughing at her own minor joke, she continued "I love to work out in general, and would probably do it even if I wasn't wrestling. Like, swimming? Genuinely one of the best things I've tried because of me working out more, it's so freeing! Dropping the sandwich, she made some rather dramatic motions as if she was performing a variety of swimming strokes that she had learned. If Anne knew how to swim at a decent capacity, she could definitely see that her technique was a little subpar, yet the enthusiasm had to mean something!

Anne went back to her sandwich while Salem went into detail about what she liked about exercising. That was something the two of them had in common, but when the pinkette started even giving specifics about swimming movements Anne couldn’t help but act surprised and captivated. She never considered herself good at swimming so seeing someone who had a more in depth approach to it was new. “You know I never tried swimming. Dunno what would happen if you get a Phoenix inside a pool.”, she chuckled at her corny joke before gesturing at her. “I think we agree. Exercising helped me get out of pretty dark places in the past and it puts me in a very positive mindset. What else? What do you do when you’re free? Are you a party person or would you be indoors under some cozy blanket reading a book?”

"You really should give it a genuine shot sometime!" Salem enthusiastically recommended, "It'sgreat for the heart, all that movement really gets the blood pumping and makes you feel good! Well, exahusted, but good." Her enthusiasm changes to a laugh as she finally gets the joke that she nearly missed.

Salem thinks for a moment about her other interests...which weren't many. Aside from wrestling, training and working out, there wasn't much. "Well...I'm getting more into food prep, but that's not really an interest more so a neccesity. Not like I could ever afford a privaye chef or some meal service, those are expensive!" Her exasperated tone doesn't last as she continues, "Oh! I do play video games sometimes, but I'm pretty bad at them, like really.

“You know what? You’re right. We could go swimming some day in LAW’s pool.”, admitted Anne applying her own “get out of your comfort zone” advice to herself. She wasn’t so sure about how she would fare inside a pool but there was nothing wrong with trying it. Salem went on with her detailed list of her hobbies, even if she looked like she was struggling to find some, as if something was holding her back. Anne of course would help her feel more at ease by reassuring her. “Well, prepping food is an art itself. I am trying to become better at it, but it’s quite difficult to maintain the balanced diet a wrestler needs...”, she says while giving a sly look at the two half-eaten chicken katsu sandwiches.

“Oh, gaming. Never done that I gotta admit. I’m more of a book person, comfortably sitting while enjoying a good book and some music is one of my treats. But if you ask me the thing I like the most doing on my free time is playing the piano… Oh, you know what we can do?”, asked Anne interrupting her own train of thought with an excited look on her eyes, “Since our hobbies are so different we could meet now and then when we have a day off, Girs’ day, and then one has to take over and present with a plan for the other!” Anne was so proud of her idea, being ready to take a step and make Salem her first official friend in LAW, not rival, but an actual friend she would meet out of work.

The Shooting Star, outside of education situations, didn't read much at all. It wasn't much her style, sitting in one place for an extended period of time, at least on purpose. Playing piano was around the same vein of reason for her not trying it, but she found that far more impressive and interesting. The dexterity required, the practice necessary: it was a beautiful thing to be able to play any instrument, but the piano was like having the ability to capture a room entirely. It wasn't a thing she thought about often, but Anne reminded her quite fondly of that during her younger years.

Gathering her thoughts, she finally spoke, finishing her chicken katsu sandwich all the while. "Reading isn't exactly my thing, not to be like, sound like a gym rat or anything. But I always have to be doing something with my body, even if it's as simple as just moving my hands with a controller" she looked a tad bit embarrassed by that, but kept going, "But playing piano, that's something! Maybe you could teach me sometime, make that our first girl's day?" Her eyebrows raise at the prospect, and the illustrious chance to absolutely faceplant on the keys in front of who was likely a talented player.

Anne just threw her idea for a girls’ day without even knowing how Salem was going to react to it. In some sort of way the redhead just went with what her gut told her and made the proposal, and her gut proved being correct when the pinkette showed enthusiasm for the plan while detailing it further, putting the option of them having a piano-themed reunion at Anne’s place first. “That sounds nice. You can show me those gaming skills of yours after that one...” The redhead was daring enough to propose plans for a second reunion even before the first one happened. She also took mental notes to search for some easy piano lessons she could teach Salem when they reunited at her home.

Resting on her seat after the sandwich was done, Anne let out a long sigh before looking at Salem. “Well, veridict? Best sandwiches in town or not?”, she said with a smile of content in her face, pretty relaxed and comfortable with both the situation and the food.

The thought of learning piano from the phoenix was something that was only shadowed by the idea of showcasing her so called 'skills' in games. Behind her overjoyed expression amidst her face full of the last bit of her second sandwich...there was panic! What was she going to show her? A fighting game? No, those are far too hard, she'll look like an idiot. A strategy game? Way too complicated to follow, plus they're ALSO hard. Maybe a cute little simulation game? Well, hard to show off skills in something that simple!

Her masked thought process was cut short as Anne changed topics to their meal, which seemed to be comcluded as the plates were emptied and their guts were full of wonderful cuisine. "The ab-so-lute best! Although, can't say I've had the competition yet, but it's hard to beat something like this." she flashed another smile, matching Anne's energy. "We should do this again too, both the training and the food. Although next time...I'll make sure to find a little place for us to meet. That way I have a reason to explore in town some more," Salem commented, planning even further beyond, which was maybe a bit too ambitious. Still, she couldn't lie about her intentions nor her thoughts about the day. She had a wonderful time, and why not do so again with such a wonderful person?
