Heavyweight Workout

Alaina was stuck now and felt her head, neck and back bending so forcefully that pain seemed to pulse the length of her spine! Alaina howled in agony as her feet kicked the mat. Her arms were stuck over Astrids legs unable to move or grab hold of Asteid meaning that she was really stuck with no immediate way out!

Alaina screamed again this time so loudly that it echoed throughout the gym as she was doing all she could to resist, avoiding the temptation to tap out!

Astrid thought that she had things under control now. The Norwegian clenched her teeth, gripping tighter to the unfortunate Amazon's jaw as she leaned back even further still to try and make things all that much worse for Alaina. Another scream rang out, and Astrid supposed she was fortunate to be here so early, lest anyone hear and think she was in the process of committing murder. But Alaina still didn't tap out, and her tenacity certainly caught Astrid's eye.

"You've fought well," Astrid said with a nod. "If you must surrender now...there is no shame in it."

Alaina tried to crawl towards the ropes but her body was pulled back and placed in such a way that she couldn't reach the mat. She felt pain jolt through her again and before Alaina began feverishly tapping against Astrids leg!

Alaina cries of pain were quite authentic as she hoped Asteid would quickly let go of the hold! Once she did Alaina would roll to her side and cradle her head in her arms.

As she pulled back even further on her opponent's chin, Astrid was confident that she had her opponent under control. She watched as Alaina reached out toward the ropes, and for a brief moment the Norwegian was left wondering if she would make it. Certainly by this point, after she had witnessed the incredible stamina and determination in her opponent, she would hardly doubt it. But another jerk on her spine proved that wrong, as Alaina at last realized she was out of luck, and tapped out!

Astrid may have been trying to win, but she still believed in honor and respect, and she had too much respect for Alaina to do anything too underhanded. Graciously, she let go of the veteran, letting her get back on her side, while Astrid herself rose to her knees. Taking in a few deep breaths, the blonde wiped some sweat off her brow before she straightened herself to look over at her sparring partner - and then, the realization set in. She had won. She had beaten her! Even if it was only a spar, Alaina had been fighting at her full capacity, and Astrid had to honor that. A smile burst wide across her face as the Norsewoman saw she had come a long way from where she started. She had gone from watching Alaina tag with her father on the TV to outlasting her in a contest that had tested her limits. Astrid wasn't just an aspiring wrestler any more - she was up there with the real stars!

She looked back over to where Alaina lay, reaching out a hand towards her in an offer to guide her up. "Need help?"

Well this didn't quite work out how Alaina had hoped but Astrid beat her clean and she had to respect that. Linda beat Alaina for the title and Astrid was now a contender. As much work as Alauna had put in to her comeback there was still more to do.

Alaina laid there for a minute before struggling to her feet accepting the help up. Her head and neck were still pulsing with pain, the agony still immense. "Thanks." Alaina said as she stood up. The amazon swayed a bit and stumbled half falling in to the ropes, grabbing hold to keep herself balanced. "Ya beat me clean and... well... ya made it look easier than I hoped heh.." Alaina said to congratulate Astrid, remarking how the woman didn't look overly worse for wear after Akaina threw everything she had at her.

Seeing how weary the bout had left Alaina, Astrid reached out a hand to stabilize the Amazon. She wouldn't exactly say she did it effortlessly; she was still sore and her breaths were fast, her heart still pounding from the adrenaline flowing through her veins. Alaina had proven herself a worthy challenge, and Astrid had had to use everything in her to come out on top. But, one way or another, Astrid had still won - and the smile on her face was a testament to that.

"I...did?" Astrid said. "Truth be told, you really made me work hard...and don't sell yourself short. I've seen enough proof today that you still have what it takes to be in the ring with the best. Nice work." She used the hand that wasn't resting on Alaina's shoulder to hold out towards the Amazon, offering her a firm handshake for a job well done.

Astrid to the end was just as polite and classy as her father. Alaina nodded and smiled as she shook Astrids hand. "Thete is a reason you are in the title scene Astrid. You handle yourself incredibly well. Linda has been a good champion but if she doesn't have the title I hope it goes to a classy person like you."

Alaina kept leaning against the rioes, one arm still reaching to hold the back of her head while the other went back to grabbing hold of the top rope. She got a lot more than she expected during her workout that was for sure!

As if there was any doubt before, now Astrid had the word of a veteran herself to back up her title aspirations - and a warm smile spread over her face as she lowered her head in deference. She had looked up to Alaina for a long time now, and to have her praise her for her efforts, after she had bested her in a spar, felt to the blonde like an official passing of the torch. It didn't matter that they were gathered in a gym where no one was around to see it - for Astrid, it was more than enough.

"Thank you...thank you so much," Astrid said, doing her best to contain the emotion that was welling up within her. "If you think that I have what it takes...mark my words, then, I'll make you proud!" She looked back up then towards Alaina with a wide smile, tears forming in her eyes. Nothing had meant more to her than this moment. "And...perhaps sometime, we can meet again?"

Alaina wanted to meet Adtrid again in the ring for sure. The sooner the better or sooner heart told her. However Alaina's brian said otherwise. Alaina needed to keep working to recapture her old form if she was going to be victorious the next time these two met.

"We will meet again before long, yes. I got my workout in for the day and should get back home to the kids." Alaina said as her neck was still in agony. "I will do better next time though so be ready."

"Of course," Astrid said, nodding graciously to Alaina. What else could she do but agree? As she picked at the sweat-soaked headband around her forehead, Astrid realized too that she had come here for a workout, but after going for so long in the ring with Alaina, she didn't think she needed one any more. Her muscles were sore, and she figured a good shower would do her well. This spar had been more than enough to keep her in shape - and even better, it had honed her tactics for when she would need them most.

"I should be off too. And I look forward to the next time we can meet in the ring - I'm sure you won't disappoint!" With a parting smile, Astrid left the ring in turn, heading back to the lockers to gather her things.
