Breaking You In

The action in the gym had come grinding to a halt as Shanty hooked in her grip on Kristin - and in particular, as Kristin so adamantly refused to give in. Kaoru and Pom both stopped what they were doing to stare in the direction of the Canadian wrestler, whose face had grown red under the pressure as she twisted and turned in a desperate but hopeless struggle to force Shanty to let go of her. Kaoru bit her lip, wincing at the thought. She knew how stubborn her girlfriend could be - stubborn enough that it wasn't unheard of for her to get herself hurt in a struggle, just to say that she didn't give up. She could only hope that this wouldn't be one of those times...or else, that Shanty wouldn't live up to what Pom was hyping her up as.

"Uhh...Kristin? I think that you might want to take their advice..."

But Kristin still shook her head. "Nngh...no, not now! I'm better than that! Do your worst!" she snapped at Shanty in defiance.

At that, Kaoru let out a sigh. "She's going to regret that, isn't she?"

Shanty: Heh, mi worst eh? Don’t sey mi didn’t warn ya blondie!

Pom: Oh dear.. (She covers her eyes in fear)

Shanty releases her hold on Kristin before pulling her up, preforming a push kick which she instantly transitions into a flying triangle choke.

Shanty: Gotta protect ye broadside matey, or dat anger of yours’ll be ya undoing!

Kaoru let out a gulp. As someone who lived with Kristin, and who had been in a fierce rivalry with her before that, she knew exactly how desperate she could be if she felt like she had something to prove - and that didn't always work out in her best interests. Here, the Canadian hadn't even managed to get free from Shanty's camel clutch, but she was still challenging her to do something even worse. She could only hope there would still be something left of her when all was said and done.

And sure enough, Kaoru's worries would prove justified. Shanty let go of Kristin just long enough to force her to her feet - but there, she kicked at her, sending her stumbling forward. And right into the path of a triangle choke, as Shanty jumped toward her and threw her legs around her throat! As Kaoru looked on with a wince, Kristin's footing gave out from under her, and she dropped to her knees with Shanty's legs still wrapped around her neck. Her face was growing red against the strain, and all she could do was cough and wheeze as the air was wrung out of her throat, her eyes rolling back into her head as the world around her began to spin!

Kristin might have been stubborn, but even she had her limits. Knowing that she was already sore from the last hold, and now too weak to possibly break free, all she could do was frantically tap out before her oxygen ran dry. "Gaaah, okay, okay-! You made your point-!"

Shanty smirks as she releases her before rolling back and preforming a backflip which transitions into a handstand.

Shanty: Dat’s how mi roll, and how mi gwine mash up dem titans in the ring and pan di mat!

Pom: Yeah, I should’ve told you when she starts speaking Patois like that.. it means she’s going all out on her opponent!

Even when she was letting go of Kristin, Shanty was going to put a dramatic flourish into everything she did - she rolled backward with a display of her acrobatic skills, hopping up onto her hands. Kaoru grinned and applauded, genuinely impressed by what she was seeing. Kristin, on the other hand, wasn't as easily amused - especially when such moves came from her opponent, who had just dealt her a devastating loss. Rolling back up to her knees, she crossed her arms and huffed - though a moment later, she winced as the aches and pains in her muscles bubbled back up to the surface. Either way, some fancy tricks weren't going to lift her spirits any.

Kaoru was feeling far more personable, though, and she nodded to Shanty with a smile on her face. "You're pretty good! I wouldn't mind facing you some time...though, what am I saying!?" She looked back at Pom. "Pom and I still have our spar going! I can't quit just now!" Sitting back up straighter on her knees, she cracked her knuckles, lifting her hands to offer the Scottish girl a test of strength from the floor. "I'm still ready to go if you are!"

Shanty: I’ll keep dat in mind judo gal, don’t hold back on her Pom!

Pom hesitates a bit before entering a test of strength with Kaoru.
