Unfinished Business | Matilda vs. Mitzi — Backstage Brawl

Matilda Schröder

The show carried on elsewhere in the arena, the distant roar of the LAW crowd bleeding through the concrete walls as Matilda Schröder made her way through the backstage corridors alone.

For once, the German powerhouse wasn't looking for trouble.

Her gear bag hung from one shoulder as she walked past production crates and equipment cases, still dressed in her wrestling attire after finishing up for the evening. Yet despite the relatively quiet hallway, Matilda couldn't quite relax.

Especially after everything that had happened lately.

Mitzi Roth.

Their match. The humiliating aftermath. And then Matilda's retaliation during Rianne's match with Kirie—the moment she'd finally gotten some measure of revenge by launching Rianne with a German Suplex and physically keeping Mitzi from saving her new employer.

Matilda knew perfectly well Mitzi wouldn't simply forget that.

Still, she wasn't going to spend her nights looking over her shoulder.

“Verdammt… I need shower und then I go home,”

Matilda muttered, adjusting the bag against her shoulder.

“Enough drama for one night, ja?”

She rounded another corner—

—and stopped for half a second.

Something felt wrong.

The corridor ahead was unusually empty.

Matilda narrowed her eyes, slowly lowering the bag from her shoulder and gripping its strap in one hand. Her instincts were beginning to scream at her, but she continued forward anyway.

“...If someone is hiding back here,”

she called out, her German accent thickening with irritation,

“you might as vell come out now.”

Matilda rolled her shoulders and kept walking.

“Because I am not in mood for games.”

It wasn't like Mitzi liked doing this...in fact it was fair to say she was angry as hell having too. But a partnership usually meant compromise and this was one of those compromises she'd have to make. Still this was one of the worst compromised she'd ever made....a free fight. One without a guaranteed paycheck or reward on the table before hand, having to earn her money in every possible way. So was the will of Rianne who silently ordered her to handle this matter herself or suffer the consequences after failing to stop Matilda from interfering and costing Rianne in her match with Kirie. Matilda had to pay for that, and since Mitzi's partnership started from her work on her that meant she was the only one for the job....fuck.

Mitzi had made the effort to plan this, if she was going to give out a free fight she was going to make sure that she had it all figured out in her head. Mitzi was around the corner on the way Matilda usually would go, meaning she'd walk right up to her and eventually fall into her trap, a painful starting attack. She figured that if she caught Matilda off guard she could end this quickly seeing as Matilda struggled against her when she was prepared to fight her. Her plans felt like they reached a hitch when Matilda seemed to sense she was being watched, warning her it was best to come out before she got angry. Mitzi clicked her tongue, annoyed that she was already found out. But if Matilda was still walking she could still pull it off, and stayed put waiting for Matilda to round the corner before coming out with a medicine ball in hand, without thinking she tossed the ball at Matilda to try and throw her off before rushing in and trying to tackle the redhead to the floor.

The warning had barely left Matilda's mouth when something suddenly flew around the corner.

Her eyes widened.

“Vas—?!”

THUMP!

The medicine ball slammed directly into Matilda's torso, knocking a harsh grunt from the German powerhouse and sending her stumbling backward.

“GUAGH—!”

Before she could even process the impact, Mitzi came charging behind it.

CRASH!

Mitzi's shoulder drove into Matilda and took her straight down onto the backstage floor. Matilda's bag went skidding away as the two heavyweights crashed together, but the German reacted almost entirely on instinct. She planted both hands against Mitzi and shoved hard, forcing her attacker away long enough to scramble back onto her feet.

Matilda immediately clutched her midsection.

The medicine ball had left a deep ache spreading through her core, forcing her to take several heavy breaths as she straightened herself. Then her eyes lifted.

She saw Mitzi.

Matilda's expression instantly twisted with recognition and fury.

“...You.”

Her hand slowly dropped from her aching stomach as she squared herself toward the prizefighter.

“Of course it is you.”

Matilda's fists clenched.

“Verdammte Schlampe…”

She growled through gritted teeth, glaring straight at Mitzi as the pain in her midsection only seemed to fuel her anger.

Mitzi's sprint caught Matilda before she could recover from the sudden medicine ball to the torso, but she found herself going a little too fast. She crashed into Matilda hard enough that when she knocked her offer she was in a scramble where she couldn't get her pinned down before Matilda recovered, with the redhead pushing her back and actually knocking her off to scramble to her feet. Mitzi cursed and looked over to see the ball rolling away too far for Mitzi to grab it before she got up, so she was forced to stand up without it and face the women she attacked who looked very angry to see her. "Watch it, I know enough German to know what you just said." Mitzi said pointing at her. This sucked, now Matilda was pissed so this fight got even harder than she wanted. Rianne was lucky her bank account was huge. "And of course it was me...I already got paid to whoop your ass once, what made you think Rianne wasn't going to be willing to pay me to do so a second time after you ruined her match?" Mitzi asked annoyed while preparing herself to be attacked.

It didn't even make sense to her, she knew Matilda was a competitor but their match was hardly the most competitive. Mitzi won decisively and she made sure Matilda regretted it. Who would want to come back to that and mess with a person who just proved what they could do to you? "You know that ruined my night too, I should be relaxing at home watching my shows instead I need to teach you a lesson, and looking at the way your wincing your already learning it...again. Stomach isn't sore still, I wrecked you pretty badly last time." Mitzi said, preparing herself and looking for a chance to grab her medicine ball and use it again, but if she turned to do so now Matilda might rush her and stop her from getting there in time.

Matilda's glare hardened when Mitzi brought up their previous encounter. The ache in her stomach was still there, but reminding her of what happened last time only seemed to make the German angrier.

“Ja. You beat me once.”

Matilda suddenly stepped forward.

“Once.”

Rather than recklessly throwing a punch, Matilda surged in like they were back inside the ring. She reached for Mitzi's wrist with one hand while the other went for her shoulder, attempting to secure control before sharply twisting her arm into a standing wristlock.

If she got it, Matilda would crank the arm and force Mitzi downward before stepping behind her and transitioning into a hammerlock, pressing herself close behind Mitzi to keep the prizefighter from simply powering free.

“You vant to teach me another lesson?”

Matilda would wrench the trapped arm upward once more.

“Fine. But zis time, I am paying attention.”

And with the medicine ball still sitting several feet away, Matilda would deliberately position herself between Mitzi and it—making sure her attacker wasn't getting a second free shot with the damn thing.
