One Job, Mitzi!

The locker-room door had barely finished slamming shut before Rianne Evans spun around and rounded on Mitzi.

Whatever composure the blonde normally carried was gone.

Her hair was still tousled from the match, her body aching from Matilda's German Suplex and Kirie's finishing combination, but none of that compared to the sting of actually having another loss slapped onto her record. Rianne planted her feet wide, clenched one fist at her side, and jabbed an accusing finger straight toward Mitzi.

“WOT THE BLOODY ’ELL WAS THAT?!”

Her voice practically exploded through the locker room.

“ONE JOB, MITZI! You had one bleedin’ job! Keep that great ginger German lump away from me ring so I could finish off that little fangirl!”

Rianne stormed forward, pointing furiously toward the hallway behind them.

“Instead, Matilda comes flyin’ over the bloody barricade, chucks me halfway across the ring on me neck, clocks the ref, then keeps you busy while Kirie goes an’ bloody well pins me!”

She threw both hands up incredulously before immediately pointing at Mitzi again.

“Do ya know how embarrassin’ that is?! I’m supposed to be buildin’ me brand, not gettin’ me arse handed to me while me hired muscle’s outside havin’ a bleedin’ wrestling match of ’er own!”

Rianne stepped closer until she was practically in Mitzi's face, green eyes blazing.

“An’ don't you dare tell me Matilda caught ya by surprise! I’m payin’ you precisely so I don't ’ave to worry about surprises!”

She finally stepped back, hands planting firmly against her hips as she glared daggers at her new bodyguard.

“So go on then, Miss Prizefighter.”

Rianne tilted her head sharply.

“Explain yourself.”

Best to just get it over with. Rianne didn't waste much time getting on her about her failure to protect her throughout the match, she was on her the second the door was closed and they were away from any watchful eyes, it should've been an easy job and she had already accomplished harder tasks in LAW. Afterall she was just helping Rianne by making sure she had a backup plan in her match with Kirie Kato, a rookie who while promising had yet to win in singles action before, only doing so alongside her mentors in the Young Lioness program. She was watching for people like them when she interfered. Kyoko Akan could be hotheaded and she was close with the other women in the group Tara Jeager but both of those women were smaller than her, one good tackle and they'd be flattened if she caught them at the right moment.

She never expected someone like Matilda to show their face or bumrush the ring the way she did, how could she when Matilda and Kirie had no history? "Matilda should've been far away from that match, you saw it yourself. I wrecked her out there! Then I broke her in the locker rooms. I was looking for Kirie's stablemates, those girls who jump in whenever one of their teammates are losing and I saw someone who looked like one of them in the crowd. But it was just a fan, 9 times out of 10 that doesn't happen...this is just..an anomaly." Mitzi said trying to explain herself, but admittedly this error was hard to ignore, especially when the partnership was just starting. "Besides if someone told me I could just knock out the ref I'd have done that myself. Her interference should've been a disqualification!" She added indignantly.

Rianne stared at Mitzi for several seconds, looking increasingly unimpressed with every excuse that left the prizefighter’s mouth. When Mitzi finally finished, Rianne gave a sharp, humorless laugh.

“Oh, brilliant! It was an anomaly! Well, that makes everythin’ peachy, don’t it?”

She stepped forward again, finger immediately returning to Mitzi’s face.

“I don't give a toss who you expected to show up! Kyoko, Tara, Matilda, the bloody King of England himself—it don't matter! Your job was makin’ sure nobody interfered with my match. Somebody did. I lost. Therefore, you cocked up!”

Rianne folded her arms tightly beneath her chest, her expression turning colder. This wasn't merely a wrestler throwing a tantrum anymore. Years spent running a business with her sister had taught her exactly how to handle someone she'd paid for a service that hadn't been delivered.

“See, here's the bit you're forgettin’, love. I've dealt with employees, contractors, suppliers—the whole bloody lot. An’ there's one thing I absolutely loathe payin’ for.”

She leaned closer.

“Failure.”

Rianne tapped Mitzi firmly on the chest.

“You keep tellin’ me you're a prizefighter? Fine. Then think of me as one very unhappy customer. I hired muscle. What I got tonight was muscle spendin’ half the bloody match rollin’ around outside with Matilda while I got planted on me head.”

Her eyebrows rose.

“So if I were you, I'd stop explainin’ why it weren't your fault and start explainin’ why I shouldn't dock your bleedin’ pay.”

Rianne stepped away, smoothing her hair with an irritated huff.

“Because I'm perfectly happy payin’ top money for top work, Mitzi. But if I'm gonna start losin’ matches and money because me bodyguard can't keep one angry German outta me business?”

Her eyes narrowed.

“Then your next payday's gonna look a hell of a lot lighter, innit?”

Rianne was still not pleased and worst of all she was discussing docked pay. That was the death of everything in Mitzi's world and it was all Matilda's fault, of course she felt her reasons were sound enough but that didn't matter if Rianne didn't agree. The women thought about what to do to please the money line in front of her and figured that the whole thing started with Matilda. "You said it yourself, I'm a prizefighter, so the best course I action is to put me in a position where I'm fighting for the money you're offering. I could've easily smashed anyone in a fight but the bigger issue was them stalling me out." Mitzi said, trying to get some kind of appeal for her pay, and continuing if she felt Rianne was listening.

"So if you need an example made out of someone, just send me to handle it. Could be Kirie, could be Matilda. Point in a direction and I can have them brought to your feet, in the middle of the ring for all to see if desired. A public show like that ought to help establish a brand don't you think? If anyone tries to screw you over, you get even and then you get ahead." Mitzi said, leveraging her strength outside of a match was rare but if the pay was good she needed to keep it there, and not let Rianne dox it, since if money went down it was harder to build it back up.

Rianne remained completely silent.

Her arms stayed folded tightly across her chest while Mitzi made her pitch, the blonde's expression never softening. She understood the logic—hell, from a business perspective, Mitzi was finally offering her something resembling a solution instead of another excuse.

But Rianne wasn't giving her the satisfaction of knowing that.

She turned away with an irritated huff and dropped heavily onto the locker-room bench, crossing one leg over the other. Her fingers drummed impatiently against her arm while she stared toward the floor, jaw clenched.

“...”

Not even a sarcastic remark.

Just one thoroughly pissed-off Cockney diva silently sulking over a loss she believed never should've happened in the first place.

Eventually, Rianne glanced sideways at Mitzi.

The glare alone said enough:

Fix it.
