Back in the locker rooms, Yuki took a deep breath as she faced the mirror. Stay calm, she told herself. This was just part of her training.
Although she had years of experience in wrestling, Yuki had none when it came to keijo, and up until this point, it was a discipline she struggled to see herself in. She was passionate about committing herself to sports and giving it her all, and she was sure that high-ranking keijo practitioners felt the same way about their style that she felt about wrestling. But...the idea of battering her opponents with her hips and behind was something that made a blush come to her cheeks just thinking about it. The stars of the keijo pool were certainly confident in their bodies, which was one thing Yuki was lingering a bit behind in.
As she fixed the straps on her bikini, she only felt that anxiety bubble up even more inside of her. She wasn't used to showing off this much in a match - it was one thing when she was going to the beach with friends, but knowing she had so many eyes on her made the whole thing seem so much more scandalous - and
the last time she had competed in a beach match had hardly ended well for her.
On top of all that - though not without reluctance - Yuki had to acknowledge that she was far from being the most well-endowed of women, which seemed like it could only work against her in a match like this.
Nevertheless, she was here for a reason. Yuki had applied for this match not just because she wanted to expand into new territory, but because she wanted it to hone her control over her own inner thoughts. Twice before, she had lost high-stakes matches due to her shame - first, in
her mercy match against Rose Gold at We Are LAW 2020, in which the panic that set in when Rose began attacking her on the psychological front had cost her the match, and more recently when
Rose had forced her to relive those moments against Xiomara Tempest in the Lightweight Classic. Yuki had come to realize that if she wanted to become a better wrestler, she would have to hone both body and mind to overcome that weakness - and though she felt ridiculous, she was going to have to if she wanted to grow stronger.
Like Clara had before her, Yuki greeted the fans warmly as she stepped onto a boat of her own, with a smile on her face as she waved to the stands. She too got her fair share of cheers, and though she wasn't as inclined to pose compared to her opponent, she still thanked everyone who stood by her for their support with some bows and nods. When she reached the Land, however, Yuki was all business - she took a step toward Clara with her eyes narrowed in focus, taking in a deep breath.
"...Hey," she said, looking up at the Englishwoman. Secretly, she squeezed her hands tighter at her sides to try and soothe her nerves. She had butterflies in her stomach, but she knew she couldn't let on.
