L.A.W. - League of Anime Wrestling

Hikari took a deep breath at the guerilla position, already dressed in her ring gear as well as the kimono she wore for entrances. The onky thing left to compelete the outfit was the horned oni mask held between her hands. It was time for yet another match in LAW, this against someone who seemed like they’d have presented a better challenge than her debut opponet.

Standing straight and rolling her shoulders back, Hikari took another deep breath. She didn’t have much knowledge on her opponet, only knowing she was apparently some sort of martial artist and a lightweight like herself which made her at least optimisitc about this being a even bout. Finally her music started playing, prompting Hikari to slip her mask on her face before coming out from the guerilla position in fromt of the cheering crowd

As the next few moments of the initially calm music played out, Hikari would take several deep breathes before the hard hitting burst of power from the song kicked in. As it did so Hikari would step forward and raise an arm above her head causing the crowd to cheer for her. Red and white lights began strobing around her form as she took a fan out and opened it with a flourish. Strutting down the ring she waved the fan around her in sharp swings in between opening and closing it.

Approaching the ring she would climb the steps and onto the apron, hopping up on the outside of the ropes she would swing her over and rest her foot on the inside middle rope. Opening the fan up and slowly waving it across her face, she would reach up and slide the oni mask off her face in synchronization with the fan. Closing the fan as her face was now revealed she would undo the obi around her waist, letting the kimono fall from around her shoulders. Dropping the mask and fan to a waiting official Hikari pulled the kimono completely off and tossed it off to the staff member before throwing her arms up in the air posing for the crowd who cheered in response to the showy entrance.

"Uh-oh, Himeko-chan has that obsessive look in your eye again."

Himeko's eyes were fixed on the screen as she watched her opponent enter the ring. She absorbed every movement, every detail, every angle she could. From the kimono, to the oni mask, to the fans, she watched with an almost manic look in her eye. This was Hikari Nakano, a rather popular indie wrestler that came to LAW right off a winning streak from her old circuit. A traditionalist that fought like a modern-day samurai according to what she gathered from files and interviews. And the relative of famed wrestler Haruto Nakano.

If there was anyone that was Himeko's antithesis, it would be this girl.

"Ane-san... you're on in a little bit..."

She was... curious. Bullshit theatrics aside, not even Himeko got through her judo and MMA tournaments on a win streak, so this girl had to have some skill. It couldn't just be for nothing, and even some of the matches Himeko saw of Hikari in her indie days showed some grounding in judo and aikido. So why... was she so into this flashy shit?

"Ane-san!"

A slap to her back snapped Himeko back to reality. She looked beside her, seeing the small brown-haired girl holding Himeko's obi.

"It's fight time, Ane-san! Go kick butt like the evil princess you are!"

Himeko scowled, snatching the cloth and snapping her fingers for her other attendant to wrap it around her.

"Have fun, Himeko-chan~" The taller one said, finishing her sash and topknot.

"It's a fight, not a playground." She scoffed. "Don't follow me," It was all she said before walking out onto the stage.

And on that stage Himeko made her way down the ramp with little fanfare or acknowledgement of the crowd watching her. Her eyes were focused right on Hikari, not even stopping to glance at the ref as she climbed into the ring, standing just short of Hikari's face.

Hikari waited patiently and with rapt attention as she focused on the entrance ramp for her opponet to come out. One of the first lessons her uncle taught her when she started.

’Always learn what you can from an opponet’s entrance. Based on their song, ring gear, way they come down, everything about their entrance can tell you about how they’ll fight.’

It was a important lesson, one that had served her well multiple times over in the indies and even in her debut match in LAW. Hopefully it would help here as well. Soon her opponet’s music had started, at the top of the ramp was Himeko. Eyes focusing on tbe brunette Hikari watched as the girl came marching straight down to the ramp, ignoring any and all fanfare in a rather odd attire.

Granted she wore a kimono for her entrance, but she could tell that this girl wasn’t wearing what she was for her entrance. Just going off the way it flowed Hikari could tell that she was wearing at most just underwear under it, as opposed to actual ring gear. ‘Interesting’ Hikari thought to herself as the other lightweight entered the ring and without wasting a second immediately stepped up to her.

Raising an eyebrow from the obvious aggression on display Hikari didn’t miss a beat and stepped forward in response. Meeting Himeko’s eues and not breakkng contact, Hikari pressed her chest against her opponets, getting right in her face in response to the other girl’s actions. She didn’t understand why this girl was being so aggressive with her but she didn’t care. Anyone that tried to challenge her in such a way she’d meet head on.

They said thne eyes were a windo to one’s soul. ‘Terrible windows than.’ Hikari thought to herself while laser focusing on Hagane’s eyes. She couldn’t get anything from them, other than intense anger and determination. The determination she could understand. She likely had the same level in her own eyes. If not more. But the anger and sheer aggression visible and burning bright was something she couldn’t fathom.

Especially considering this was their first time meeting eachother period so Hikari was at a utter loss what had made the girl so furious.

That being said however... Hikari refused to back away from a challenge. Ever. Despite the attitude of her opponet Hikari met the other girl head on, when she was bumped back she merely stepped forward again bumping the steel princess back with a look on her face that mad eit exactly clear what she meant. Upon hearing the words of her opponet the scion merely narrowed her eyes. “I was about to say the same.” She said evenly, waiting almost impatiently for the bell to ring as she clenched and unclenched her fists in anticipation.

Hikari could notice how agitated her opponet was, how ready she was to fight. The narrowing of her eyes to near slivers, the tight clenching and unclenching of her hands, even the girl’s breathing seemed to hitch and become more shallow. Good. Because Hikari was the exact same way. She was ready for a fight, or more specifically she was ready to beat the attitude out of this girl.

Soon after what felt like a century the bell rang, starting the contest of warriors began. Immediately Hikari threw her leg up, going for a right knee strike aimed at her opponet’s gut. In the same moment however her opponet acted, grabbing Hikari’s shoulders while her foot moved out sweeping her standing foot off the mat. ”Tsk.” Hikari breathed to herself already bracing to make impact with the mat, however her leg was already in motion, and by the time she fell to the mat her knee would have made a resounding impact with her opponet’s gut!

As she fell Hikari couldn’t help but note the disadvantage her opponet bad put herself in by causing them to descend with her on top. Granted that was only because Hikari was fortunate enough to try for a move that rose while they descended to the mat, striking Himeko as they made impact.

The problem was that she now had the girl above her, something that was never a good position to be in. Clenching her fist Hikari tried to act preemptively and throw some offense by thrusting her arm up to drive her elbow into Himeko’s face. But as she did her arm hit nothing but air, rather Himeko’s head had descended and then...

BLAM

Everything went fuzzy for a moment as Himeko’s head cracked against Hikari’s. ”Ugn!!!” She grunted out in pain her own jead smacking back into the mat following the inpwct as a bell suddenly started ringing in her head making it hard to focus. Gritting her teeth Hikari tried to force her brain intk clarity, at least enough to throw her leg ups to try and knee Himeko in the back!
