Victory by pin, submission, KO or disqualification
"Hyaaa!", shouted Betty, while she furiously struck a punching bag with a roundhouse kick. "Impressive, but the bag does not hit back", cynically commented her friend Wei Ting, who was lying on her back in a bench. Both girls were in a locker room, located closely to the gorilla position, by which the Crimson Cobra would enter on a few moments, in order to engage Ossi Shamar, on her second match by the League of Anime Wrestling.
The Liberian didn't stop training since her unfortunate performance against The Dark Nightingale on her debut match. Day and night, she practiced her old kicks and new ones. She even included a new routine of aerial gymnastics on her preparation for her match against Shamar, with the objectivet repeat her previous mistakes. And now, she was practicing once again, before the start of the match.
Ignoring Ting's jest, delivered on her usual robotic voice, Betty kept kicking the bag. Wei Ting was a long time training partner and friend of the Liberian; both of them being disciples of the same masters back in the time of their learning of Wushu in mainland China. They hadn't seen each other for a long time, until recently, when Ting arrived in Japan in order to join LAW herself, something that should happen soon. But for now, she was accompanying Durkuly to her match against Shamar, with the intent of advising and cheering for her.
"You know, you shouldn't be training before the start of the match...", commented Ting while staring at her cellphone, bored, while searching data about her friends's next opponent. "I don't fear the man who knows a thousand kicks, but I fear the one who has practiced the same kick a thousand times", replied Betty, with this well known quote. Ting sighed, saying: "This doesn't apply here... You're just stupidly tiring yourself before the start of the match...".
Rolling her eyes, Betty stopped her practice and cleaned the sweat out of her forehead, realizing that Ting was right, much to the Liberian's frustration. "Very well, I'm going to dress up for the match... In the meantime, tell me what you found about Shamar", replied Cobra, starting to put her attire on, while her companion started reporting her analysis on Ossi Shamar.
"Syrian, grappler, from rich background.... Very spoiled apparently...." started Ting, while quickly passing by her notes on Shamar. "Continue", requested Betty while putting her red jacket. "You should be careful, she is very proud and that can be a strength to a wrestler ", commented Ting, to which the Liberian replied with a small grin "Strength? I doubt that... Like one wise man said, 'twice the pride, double the fall'!".
Ting got up, sitting on the bench, taking the cellphone out of the face and staring at Betty, who was fixing an arch on her afro, with a shocked, but sarcastic expression. "I would hardly consider Count Dooku a wise man", she commented. "Who...? Anyway, how do I look?", replied Betty, pretty much ignoring Ting's remark, turning to her while showing the outfit for the match.
Spoiler
"Not very terrible...", replied Ting, with a bored expression. Betty ignored her and smiled, before moving to the gorilla position. The time had come.
Crossing down the ramp, entering the main area of the arena in order to get to the ring, the Liberian heard the announcer heralding her entrance, accompanied by the sound of "Kung Fu Fighting": "Making her way to the ring, weighing one hundred and thirty seven pounds, coming from Monrovia Liberia, is Betty Durkuly, The Crimson Cobra!".
Passing by the ropes, as she finally reached the ring where she would face Shamar, Betty positioned herself on the center of the canvas, waiting for her Syrian opponent to appear.
