JJJ was ready. It was her time. Finally. She stood in front of the curtain, breathed deep, moved through, and…
”Holy smokes.”
Joey Janella Jenkins thought she would be ready for all of this when she got the LAW offer. It was a big opportunity, a dream job, but she’d lived her life diving headfirst into things, and this wouldn’t be any different, right? She’d fought in front of people before. This was just more people. A lot more people, sure but in theory, it wasn’t a change. She didn’t get jitters. She didn’t get nervous. She was Joey Janelle Jenkins, she was lightning in a bottle, and she was going to take LAW by storm.
Not a bad attitude to have, all well and good. But the moment she stepped through the ropes, it all just kind of…faded. That was a lot of people. A lot of people. Most of the people JJJ had ever seen in one place at one time, at least personally, were looking straight at her. Her played at full blast, the crowd roared at her appearance, and it was all just so, so…much.
Wow. Just wow. JJJ had to take a few moments to soak it all in, before she leaned back and slapped her face, summoning a surge of adrenaline. She pumped her fist high and let out an Amazon war cry, bouncing on her heels as she hollered. ”Japan! I’m here! Woooo!”
It was more than a little goofy, but then, if she cared about appearances she probably wouldn’t have gotten into wrestling in the first place. Nonplussed, unwavering, she made her way down to the ring and slapped hands with the fans along the way, soaking up all the excess energy she could. One thing she could say about wrestling over kickboxing, the crowd was a lot more energetic and fun, holding up signs and dancing along with the retro music, fully getting into the theme. It was just the sort of vibe she was going for it, and it helped her out more than any of them could ever know.
JJJ rolled in through the bottom rope, popped up to her feet in the center of the ring, and threw out a few quick kicks - a low roundhouse, a high snap, and a spinning heel, all without letting her foot touch the ground, seamless movements, leaving the crowd reasonably impressed. She winked out towards the cameras and promptly skipped over to her corner, where she got her stretches in, reaching down to touch her toes and limber up.
Just a couple more minutes. Almost time. Almost…
