She had been training to be a proper wrestler for more than a year now, and had done well in quite a few practice matches. She had even tagged briefly with Kyo back when he had been in one of the indy leagues. But this was different: not only was this her first, proper match, but it was headlining as part of a match league like LAW. To say that she had butterflies in her stomach was an understatement.
You'll do fine, she told herself. You're ready for this. You know what you're doing, and you'll be ready for whoever they pit against you. Somehow, Makie had difficulty believing herself.
She didn't have time to dwell on it much further, though: her music suddenly started outside, signalling that it was her time to enter the arena. With a deep breath, she strode out into the spotlight.

Slipping down into the ring, Makie realized her heart was pounding. It felt exhilarating, hearing a crowd of people she didn't know cheering her. Before she even realized it, she was smiling. This was why Kyo loved this sport so much, she knew. And it was why their dad had as well. A small part of her hoped that somewhere out there, her dad could see her now, in the ring, following in his footsteps.
Her attention snapped back to reality. She still had no idea who she was facing: she had told the management that she was ready to take on anyone in the roster, no matter how big, or skilled or experienced they were, she was not going to back down from a match.
