To say that Mizuki Sakura was nervous would be an understatement. Everyone knew why she was here - to get beaten up in order to make those more capable than she was look good by comparison. She had accepted that fate, and she was happy she could at least squeeze a decent paycheck out of that job, unglamorous as it might have been - but that didn't make it hurt any less when she was pitted against muscular goliaths and left bruised and battered every time.
Her opponent this time was going to be a new debut - which made Mizuki even more nervous. If the folks backstage were going to make
her someone's first match, it meant that they wanted her to demonstrate what the newcomer was good at and what they could bring to the table - and a win simply wouldn't be an option. Mizuki barely had any confidence she could win the match if she tried, but she bit her lip nervously, knowing that the promoters wouldn't be happy if she put up much of a fight. They hadn't outright
told her to throw the match...but then, if they didn't need to, that usually meant they felt she wouldn't stand a chance anyway. She was stuck between a rock and a hard place, faced with either getting beaten up now or getting a scolding later, but it was better than not being able to pay the bills.
Mizuki slumped in the corner as the lights came on, holding onto the ropes to try and keep herself as steady as she could when her whole body was shaking. She wasn't even afforded any fancy entrances; she was already in the ring the moment the match was announced. A few of the fans laughed at the sight of such a scrawny girl being pitted against a fearsome wrestling veteran, which only made her blush harder when she realized that absolutely no one had any faith in her. Mizuki tried waving back at them in an attempt to distract herself, but the look on her face was unmistakable as that of a woman who knew exactly what she was in store for.
