Steel and Scale: Wyvern vs. Cyber Widow

Unread post by Hills »

Even from a far corner of the gorilla position, Wyvern can hear the rumbling of the Tokyo crowd. The next match, her match, had required quite a bit of setup, and the lull in the action had inevitably lead to restlessness. Excitement, anticipation, and burning need all swirled together in the pit of her stomach. It had been quite some time since she'd felt truly nervous before a match. Winning and losing rarely mattered to her; what she cared about was violence, and she hadn't been apprehensive about her ability to give or receive that in years. Moreover, this was a street fight, and against a strong opponent at that. Wyvern hasn't had a satisfying hardcore match since before her arrival at LAW. She intended to make this one a fight to remember for everyone.
Spoiler
A tech close to the exit beckons to her, and Wyvern unfolds her arms and pushes off the wall. Stretching her arms as she walks, Wyvern comes to a stop just before the exit and hops a couple of times to limber up as the tech silently counts down on his fingers. As almost all light from behind the curtain fades away, Wyvern hears the first beats of her theme begin to play outside to the audience. Striding forcefully out into the strobing lights of her intro, she is taken off guard by an unusually loud surge of noise from the audience. A few cheers, more than a few jeers, and a lot of calls for blood. Working the crowd isn't something she's good at, but this? This she can handle just fine. Pausing for a moment at the edge of the stage, Wyvern places one thumb on the side of her neck and the other at the side of her stomach, then whips both across in a gesture imitating the simultaneous slitting of her throat and belly. This gets another loud reaction from the crowd. Unusual, but not unpleasant, she finds. As the announcer begins speaking, she starts moving forward once more.

"The following contest is set for one fall, and is a Tokyo Street Fight! Introducing first, and making her way to the ring, from Drogheda, Ireland, weighing in at 137 pounds...WYVERN!"

As she continues down towards the ring, Wyvern examines the setup that had been put in place for the match. A few baseball bats and trashcans were scattered around the outside of the ring. Those were to be expected. A number of small cinderblock piles were present as well, and some flourescent light tubes had been leaned up against convenient objects. Bother were a little more uncommon due to how dangerous they were, but hardly unusual. That's where Wyvern's familiarity, ends, however. Along the barricade around the outside of the ring, numerous neon lights flicker into life as Wyvern closes in on the ring itself. In addition, and most impressively, an entire construction scaffold takes up full quarter of the outside, covering it and extending around one corner of the ring. In the shadows, Wyvern can see various construction materials propped up under the scaffolding. Heavy planks, metal pipes, and various tools all litter the area within. All in all, it was quite the impressive setup.

Rolling under the bottom rope and into the ring, Wyvern moves to a far corner and seats herself on the bottom turnbuckle, waiting for her opponent.

This was what she needed... Thereisa would think to herself backstage, watching her opponent make her out on stage and into the ring. That feeling of violence that she has always craved ever since she returned to the ring, even now her baby face run is not going as well as she planned due to many losses and shocking defeats at that including a loss to lightweight due to the champion getting involved in it. But now she can show off a side of her that she has kept hidden out of fear of being blacklisted again or worse lose the fans that she has worked so hard to get, as much as she hates that it does feel good being cheered by the fans every day and night in matches or being called to take photo shoots and meet and greet with the fans of all ages... minus the ones she been beating up but she did draw the line with her daughter about not going after anybody younger.

As the arena goes dark and she makes her way out of stage wearing her normal work out shorts and top, the crowd is cheering as what looks like a metal sheet like dome comes down and covers Thereisa from the crowd view, as music plays in the background as what sounds like machines are creating something inside the object. Loud noises of gears being turned and what seems to be a massive turbine engine noise is heard as something is powering up as a battery image shows that it is at 50% charge, a loud horn is heard as the lights start to flash red in warning as a beeping sound is heard and the image of the Red eye appears on the screen as more gears are heard as the woman's arm rips out of the metal cloth as she walks out and wearing a new outfit that leaves nothing to the eye of the beholder.

As Thereisa looks around the area before tilting her head back opens her mouth as a loud Roar like scream is heard and the more gears are heard as the battery on the screen says FULL POWER SILVER DEMON, the crowd is stunned as for one night they get to witness the famed Silver Demon that haunted the wrestling world when the woman was younger after being trained to be as cruel and merciless as possible.

Image

The lights turn back on as she makes her way down to the ring... Her red eyes have not left her opponent before climbing into the ring and stands there. The crowd does a hush silence seeing the two women in the ring with weapons and the scaffold that is near the ring, the chants for blood and violence is starting to echo around the arena as the ref comes in and calls for the bell to be ring... before quickly getting out of the ring since she does not want to be in the middle of this bloody match.

One of Wyvern's eyebrows raises at the ostentatious appearance of Thereisa's entrance and her transformation into the Silver Demon. With the rest of her expression remaining blank, however, the motion carries more mocking incredulity than true surprise. Standing up, the Irish wrestler rolls her shoulders before moving to square off with Thereisa. As soon the older wrestler emerges from her synthetic cocoon, Wyvern locks eyes with her, never breaking this contact as her opponent descends to the ring. In spite of the wrestler's neutral, even blank, expression, there's a burning intensity behind her yellow contacts that becomes instantly apparent when Thereisa meets her gaze. As the larger woman enters the ring, Wyvern stands unflinchingly, even as the massive difference in size becomes increasingly apparent when the gap between them shrinks. Wyvern rapidly analyzes her surroundings, thoughts flashing through her head like lightning.

Thereisa "Cyber Widow" Niedermeyer. Formerly(?) known as the Silver Demon, extensive career lasting over multiple decades. Reversion to former title likely to indicate statement of intent towards severe violence. Provocation therefore unnecessary. Size advantage: One foot/70 ibs. Makes use of technique as much/more than raw strength. Outside of the ring abnormally dangerous: high risk, potential equalizer. Keep beginning of the match inside to get her measure.

None of this caution shows on Wyvern's face. Instead, she loudly cracks her neck before dispassionately raising her arms, entering into a martial arts stance reminiscent of Muay Thai. With her eyes never leaving Thereisa's own, she feels rather than sees the referee enter the ring long enough to declare the start of the bout before getting as much distance as they can from the fight. Even a noncombatant can tell how intense the oncoming bout will be. Merely getting close can and will be dangerous.

As the bell rings, Wyvern makes no immediate attacks. Keenly aware of the difference in reach and strength between her and her opponent, she instead begins inching forwards, swaying slightly as she examines Thereisa's guard for any openings. Hardened muscles coil throughout her body, waiting to explode into action at the slightest provocation.

The bell was rung and Thereisa didn't even move at all. Her eyes have not left her opponent own even after the other woman has gotten into a fighting stance and even moving close to her in slow-moving steps, but the scary thing is Thereisa eyes are following Wyvern with every small move she makes before much to the amazement of the crowd the older woman speaks in her native tongue.

The fans and even the ref at ring side gasp hearing the soft voice coming from the older woman.... ' Ziel Anvsiert' She says. Before lunging forward trying to go for a faint punch to her opponent's face, but it is really just a fake trying to set up Wyvern for a kick by over extending her punch so that her body can turn and follow up with her signature Stardust Kick to test and see the distance between herself and her opponent.

She expects that younger woman in front of her is either going to dodge or give up ground and take a step back to avoid being out of her range, but it will tell her the distance due to her height and reach advantage she has over Wyvern.

Wyvern chose to approach the situation carefully due to her opponent's massive physical advantages over her. The fact that there was no initial response did nothing to dull her caution. Each step is small, carefully measured, and balanced, calculated to leave no openings until she finally manages to provoke a response. Wyvern continues to maintain eye contact with the taller woman as she moves, never backing down even as the size difference becomes increasingly stark. The tension in the ring spreads out over the entire arena, leading to an anxious silence. One way or another, this was going to be a hell of a fight.

It's that very silence that allows Thereisa's soft utterance to travel so far, leading to gasps of shock from the referee and audience. Wyvern notes the statement with mild curiosity for the split second before Thereisa begins her attack. The smaller wrestler ducks the feint punch, but judging by the trajectory after it passes and the way Thereisa rotates her body, she manages to read the oncoming kick. Conventionally, Wyvern can either put her entire body into dodging or retreat out of reach, granting the Silver Demon control of the fight.

Wyvern is refuses to let that happen. Risk and pain are of no concern to her. Thus, once she realizes the position she's in, Wyvern launches herself forward, directly towards her opponent. She lifts one arm to block Thereisa's Stardust Kick. By taking the hit so close to the base of the limb, less force can be applied and Wyvern is able to defend herself at the cost of what feels like the start of a nasty bruise. Planting both of her feet, she coils her other arm before thrusting her fist out, firing a brutally powerful punch directly into Thereisa's ribcage!

A loud thud echoes from the ring as Thereisa favorite kick slams into her opponent's arm. She put a lot of power behind that kick due to the extra spin she got from rotating her body around fully, which built up more speed for the kick to be as deadly as possible since it has been known to knock some people out if it lands flush against the opponent heads.

She didn't expect her opponent to counter her with a punch to the ribs that forced her body to bend to that side, as she could feel Wyvern fist dig inside her toned body before the rest of the force sent her stumbling sideways before coming to a stop in front of the ring ropes patting her side with her hand. Anybody else taking that punch would have had their ribs broken or something worse but Thereisa right now is so wired focused that any pain she feels is being put aside as her goal is to hurt her opponent, this time she is circling the other woman with her arms raised out wanting to catch Wyvern off guard and swipe at the woman's leg to get a take down quickly.

While Wyvern's borderline insane daring counter to Thereisa's Starlight Kick had proven to be effective, the inevitable consequences make themselves known in the aftermath. Her entire arm and shoulder are rendered nearly numb following the jarring impact, a dull pulse of pain from where she took the blow being the only sensation to remain. The move's similarity to her finisher had made her familiar enough with the mechanics behind it to respond as she did without getting her head taken off, but she had still underestimated how much of a difference the sheer size and strength gap between her and the Silver Demon would make.

Noting the lack of meaningful damage her attack had done to Thereisa, Wyvern does not attempt to follow up on her strike and instead keeps her distance, rolling her impacted shoulder briefly to try to return feeling to it before reassuming her combat stance. With Wyvern ceding the ability to initiate the next exchange to her, Cyber Widow wastes no time in pressing in. Expecting a high attack, Wyvern is taken off guard by Thereisa's low swipe, successfully taking her off her feet and sending her crashing down to the canvas. As she lands, Wyvern lashes out with a kick to the side of her opponent's knee, but from her awkward position, even if the strike connects it won't have any effect without additional hits in the future.

Taking the fight to her younger opponent, who took her signature move head on and blocked it with just her arm. Only a few other wrestlers were crazy to do that and Wyvern proved that she would not go down quickly without showing off her skills and tying to defeat her as well, but to the crowd watching this match it feels like two monsters just testing each other before the big bloody brawl they expect to happen.

As Thereisa was able to take Wyvern down with a swipe to her leg but she was not able to take advantage of that opening due to her opponent foot slamming into her leg that forces her to back up, only due to the damage that the leg has taken in her previous matches but she refuses to allow that to stop her from crushing this woman in front of her. As she would once again come forward and jump into the air planning on trying to do a double foot stomp right onto her opponent chest, wanting to crush her opponent stomach with her body weight and from how high she jumped it is going to be painful if it connects.

Wyvern is surprised by the effectiveness of her kick, but quickly determines that Thereisa's long and often brutal career had left her with enough long-term damage that her knee was likely a vulnerable point even without adequate force behind the strike. Taking note of this but unable to follow up while on her back, Wyvern is once more surprised when Thereisa is able to almost immediately return to her feet and launch herself high into the air, looking to crash back down and deliver a devastating or even fatal stomp to the smaller wrestler's torso.

Oh, fuck that.

While it was incredibly rare for Wyvern to outright back down against an opponent's attack, particularly a large one like this, even the Irish wrestler has limits to her endurance and how far she is willing to test them. Desperately, she hurls herself awkwardly out of the way, feeling rather than seeing the thunderous impact to the canvas as Thereisa misses her by scant centimeters. Rolling back to her feet, Wyvern quickly reassumes her combat stance.

"Not bad, grandma. What else have you got?"

Going with her double stomp to her opponent's chest would have easily cracked or done a lot of damage to Wyvern's body. But the younger woman was able to roll out of the way at the last minute saving herself from the move, but it showed that the young woman in front of her is more than just brute force and brawn... it is going to take a lot more to land those finishing blows to end this match in her favor.

Even hearing the insult at being called a grandma doesn't faze her at all as she smirks knowing that she has the other woman on the back foot and she can keep pressing till she lands what she will call the first big blow in the match, as she would lunge forward instead of going for her big boot like she always does... Thereisa would leave her feet and go for a jumping high knee right at her opponent face this time wanting to send the message loud and clear.
