Shonen Showdown: Yunaka Rubi vs Meiyun Lai

Yunaka casually withdrew her hand as Meiyun's stubbornness shone through yet again as she refused the redhead's help. She wanted to prove that she was alright, that she didn't need the aid of her own opponent to stand. Meiyun even took it step further by trying to get back to her feet with a kip up rather than just standing. It had mixed results. Mei got back to her feet, and managed to stay there, but only barely. It was clear that she was struggling.

Yunaka knew that for Meiyun, trying to continue fighting was not a smart decision. But she also knew that trying to talk the brunette down would only serve to anger Meiyun and steel her will further. Yunaka figured that the most she could do for the diner girl was to finish her off as quickly as possible, even if Mei herself would be doing everything in her power to thwart Yunaka.

Yunaka would let Meiyun take the lead in the second round. Letting the Chinese girl run into whatever counter Yunaka prepared had been working well enough so far. Plus the redhead had also long since realized that the key to submitting Meiyun was breaking her spirit rather than her body. If Meiyun felt like she was just running into a brick wall whenever she tried to attack, then that may demoralize her faster. The strategy didn't really work the first time Yunaka tried it, admittedly, but it should also be more effective the more times she does it. So, Yunaka hung back in wait for her opponent.

For a brief moment, Meiyun had regrets about how quickly she'd thrown herself back into the action. She hadn't given herself the time to collect herself and catch her breath before she had gotten up, and when she'd suddenly gone from lying on her back to being up on her feet with barely any time to adjust in between, the shift in altitude had left her dizzied. But she wouldn't let that get in her way, if she had any say in the matter! She held her arms out to the sides to settle herself, and she bent at the knees, sinking her center of balance lower to the ground in an effort to keep herself stable. When she looked up at Yunaka, her eyes narrowed into a determined glare. Maybe this had slowed her down...but if Meiyun had any say in the matter, she wouldn't let it be much more than a momentary setback! Facing stumbling blocks in her path to greatness would only make it that much more impressive when she managed to triumph over them regardless!

She wasted no time in settling into her stance, holding her hands up poised and ready to strike at a moment's notice. She leaned over a little bit forward, shifting herself ever so slightly closer to her opponent so that she could propel herself into range faster. Meiyun could see that Yunaka was standing by, giving her the opportunity to strike. That brought a smile to her face - as far as she understood it, she had a chance, and one she couldn't waste! Maybe Yunaka was wide open, and it would be easy enough for her to counter...but that didn't bother Meiyun. She was sure that if she hit her hard enough, she could deny her the opportunity!

In a rare moment of strategic thought, Meiyun did in fact consider her compromised stance when planning her next move. She knew that throwing a kick would've upset her balance, and moving into closer range seemed risky, as that would give Yunaka time to see her coming and set up her response. So instead, narrowing her eyes and tensing up in focus, Meiyun leaped off the ground and shot forward straight at Yunaka to tackle her with a spear! Hopefully that would come in too fast and hard to easily deflect!

As Yunaka waited for Meiyun to approach, the Hakka girl actually didn't immediately rush in. She actually looked to be thinking over what she was going to do. For a moment, Yunaka was impressed. That moment ended once Meiyun's thought seemed to come to the conclusion of "rush in." Though the redhead thought that perhaps some praise was due. The diner girl went for a Spear, trying to cut down on Yunaka's opportunity window to counter by making the rushing in itself the attack.

Unfortunately for Meiyun, she just didn't quite have the weight to throw around to make her attack stick. The brunette crashed into Yunaka, but the impact from her smaller frame was absorbed well enough into the Middleweight's midsection that Yunaka was able to stay standing. Yunaka was forced to take a step back, but her guard had been up and her body was braced for the attack. Then once Meiyun was stuck with her shoulder buried into Yunaka's gut, the peppy redhead would reach her arms around the Chinese girl's chest and grab her.

Yunaka felt a dull throb in her stomach, but that would be nothin compared to what she was about to make Meiyun feel. She would start by driving her knee straight up, crashing it into the Lightweight's nose. Then Yunaka would lift that same leg up and around until her foot was hanging over Meiyun's head, and then the former street thug would perform the wrestling equivalent of a curb stomp. Releasing the grip she had on Meiyun so that she could stomp on the back of the diner girl's head and drive her face first down into the mat.

But knowing how stubborn Meiyun was, Yunaka's combination was not done yet. She would jump up and butt drop down onto the brunette's back. Once Yunaka was finished battering Meiyun's body, the redhead would then move onto a submission. A simple one, but still a painful one. Yunaka would pull Meiyun's arms back over her legs and grab the Chinese girl by her chin and pull her head back for a Camel Clutch. "You can't beat me, Meiyun," said Yunaka. "Save yourself the pain and injury. It's not worth proving your toughness even further than you already have."

Meiyun might have put a little more thought than usual into planning her next move...but, at the end of the day, she would fall back on the same strategy she always had. She was convinced that she could solve any problem by throwing herself at it as hard as she could, and hitting with all her might. And in this case, that was quite literal. It didn't take long for her to reach the conclusion that she could claim the advantage on Yunaka by tackling her at full force. As usual, she figured that if she threw each hit as hard as possible, her opponent couldn't possibly hope to defend herself against it!

The Chinese girl threw herself toward Yunaka as hard as she could, her hands held out in front of her to ram into her foe's midsection. For a moment, Yunaka wobbled back and forth. But even with all the force of Meiyun's charge, Yunaka stayed standing. She teetered back and forth, she brought one of her feet back - but she didn't fall! Meiyun was left to slump forward as Yunaka backed off from her, shifting the balance between the two - and when Yunaka was the only thing keeping Meiyun from falling, that compromised her stance all the more, causing her to dip lower. She looked up toward Yunaka, her eyes wide and her mouth agape. Had that really not worked? How tough did Yunaka have to be if the spear couldn't take her down!?

Meiyun barely had any time to contemplate her predicament - a moment later, Yunaka grabbed her around the waist, holding her firmly in position. And then, her knee drove straight upward into her face! The force of the impact sent Mei's head cracking back, a trail of spittle flying from between her clenched teeth as she gagged and gasped. She bent over even lower, her back parallel to the canvas as her shoulders heaved for breath and she sagged under her own weight. Her head was dangling low to the ground, and she couldn't see how her opponent was already gearing up for her next move. But it was one that would only make matters worse, when Yunaka's raised leg stomped straight back down onto the back of her head!

Meiyun let out a shrill scream as her footing gave out, and she dropped straight down onto her face in a heap. Her entire face felt numb, and she panted for breath as a few hoarse and groggy groans left her throat. But even now, the trouble was only beginning. Yunaka dropped down on top of Mei's back, leaving her sputtering under her weight - and then, she grabbed her by the chin, yanking her head straight back for the camel clutch! As her back was twisted into an arc, Meiyun's eyes squeezed shut, and her brow furrowed under the pressure. Once again, she let out a scream at the pain erupting through her body. She was being brought toward her limit, and the tears were budding in her eyes. But worse than the pain was the knowledge that Yunaka was taunting her - even now daring her to tap out!

Mei knew one thing for sure. She was in a lot of pain, and Yunaka was proving to be a lot of trouble...but she wasn't going to back down that easily. The very fact that Yunaka was daring her to submit was a greater insult than she was willing to tolerate. Whether Yunaka meant it, or was just trying to taunt her...Meiyun had made it her purpose in life to prove her wrong, and that gave her the motivation she needed to fight back! Sucking in a breath and clenching her teeth as her muscles firmed up with stored energy, Meiyun planted her knees against the mat to try and brace herself enough to buck with her back, in an attempt to knock Yunaka off! All the while she shook her head, hopefully making her intentions quite known!

"I...can't-!! I'm stronger than that!!"

Yunaka hadn't really been expecting Meiyun to give up to her Camel Clutch, but that didn't help to make it any less frustrating. It was clear that the Chinese girl was in agony though. She screamed and cried in a way that the Mei just hadn't in the first round. Yunaka knew that meant she had to be getting close to finally breaking the diner girl into giving her a quick submission.

"Come on! We both know you can't take much more of this," said Yunaka as she wrenched her Camel Clutch back even further. But Meiyun still held out with all the stubbornness that she could muster. "Ya know, I have to wonder why I don't just do what worked last time if I want to get this over with," said the redhead, releasing her hold and dropping Mei onto her stomach.

Despite what Yunaka had said, she didn't intend to repeat her Breast Smother. But she did plan to reuse the idea of forcing Meiyun to tap by threatening to knock her out. Yunaka would shift from sitting on the brunette's back to laying down on it, with her breasts pressing down between Meiyun's shoulders. From there, the redhead would wrap her arms around the diner girl's throat to lock her into a Rear Naked Chokehold. Once more planning to force Meiyun's surrender by depriving her of air until she had to choose between sleep or submission.

"What you need to understand his that no amount of stubbornness or conviction will get you anywhere if you don't have the strength to do anything with it," said Yunaka, tightening her grip. "It's a big difference between fighting bravely against long odds and stupidly chucking yourself into an unwinnable battle. You are doing the latter, Meiyun."

"N-Nngh..." With Yunaka twisting her back further and further into a painful arc, Meiyun began to twitch, her muscles stiff and sore. Her face was red, her eyes squeezed shut, and her teeth locked in a grimace. Yunaka was stretching her even further than she ever had before - Meiyun had been through a lot in this match, and Yunaka always seemed to find new ways to top what had come before. Worse yet was the fact that all the damage Mei had accrued was building up over time - the more sore and strained her muscles grew, the more it hurt whenever Yunaka tightened the pressure. In any other circumstance, the girl would be tempted to cut her losses and give in at this point...but for this match, that was simply off the table. Meiyun had been challenged to a match against her most fearsome and formidable foe yet. She wasn't just trying to win the match, but to prove a point - that she would be the obstacle that stood in Yunaka's way, preventing her from reaching the dominance her sort would take any means to attain in the pursuit of power! What would happen if she tapped now? She would be saying that for all her bravado and all her confidence, she was nothing more than a poser. To Meiyun, the threat of being made into a failure was even worse than that of defeat!

When Yunaka let Meiyun go, the brunette fell flat on her stomach, panting and gasping for breath. She tried to push herself back up on her hands and knees, only to shudder and sink back down as she felt the pain shoot through her spine. There was no way she could get back up now! She reached out in front of her, grabbing for the mat to try and drag her way to safety - but it was no use. The pain in her spine had slowed her down. And Yunaka was still draped across her, in a prime position to strike - as she grabbed for Meiyun's throat to squeeze it tightly between her arms!

The Chinese girl threw her head back to scream, but any noise that left her throat was muffled from lack of oxygen. Her veins bulged against the pressure bearing down on her neck, and her skin ran slick with sweat. The world around her had grown hot and stifling - the pressure on her neck was one thing, but she also had to contend with the weight of her opponent pressing down on her from behind, causing her back to sag and her muscles to twitch. Her teeth locked together in a grimace, gritting tightly to try and stifle the gasps and groans that she so desperately wanted to let out, but she had to hold in all the air she could. In spite of it all, though, Meiyun heard Yunaka taunting her, and that was all she needed to spur her onward - she had to fight back, just to prove her wrong! She wanted to shake her head, but when she could barely move through the crippling embrace of the choke, it was hopeless. Either way, Meiyun knew, in the depths of her heart, that she wasn't just struggling blindly and stubbornly against impossible odds. She really did have the strength she needed to break free, and it was the resistance she met that was helping her bring that to the surface!

In the last fall, Yunaka had pinned down Meiyun's wrists as she smothered her out, preventing her from fighting back - she couldn't get in any blows to weaken the redhead's stability; she could barely even tap out, and by the time she found enough room to move her hands at all, her strength had been sapped too much to do anything but submit. This time, though, she had her hands free - and she was going to take every advantage of that fact! Clenching her teeth even tighter to steel herself, Meiyun reached up to grab for Yunaka's arms, trying to pull them off her throat! The edges of her vision were growing dark, and the world was spinning, but she had to fight back with everything she could! The first fall had been a warning of her opponent's power, but Meiyun had to do better this time!

Yunaka knew that she had Meiyun trapped beyond any hope of escape. Mei's arms were free, but the only way the diner girl could escape was by crawling from where she was, all the way out to the ropes. Doing so while being already beat up, getting choked, and having to drag the entirety of Yunaka's weight along with her. Even if Meiyun did do that, all the redhead had to do was roll over onto her back and that escape would be shut down entirely.

Instead, Meiyun used the freedom of her arms to try to pry off Yunaka's choking grip from her throat. The redhead's arms budged barely, if it all. Not enough to grant Mei any reprieve from her current state of breathlessness. The Hakka girl's resistance was starting to feel more and more pointless to Yunaka. By no means was she longing for no rules fights in back alleys again, but the former street thug certainly wished she had the liberty to just end the fight by force right now.

Or maybe I do, thought Yunaka. The redheaded wrestler flexed the bicep she held around Meiyun's throat, tightening her chokehold as much as possible, with the intent of holding it like that until Meiyun finally either tapped out or fell unconscious. Yunaka didn't actually know what would happen if Mei's stubbornness compelled her to hold out to unconsciousness. So if that happened and Meiyun refused to give up before she fell asleep, she would ask the ref, "Hey, umm, so I think she's out. Does that mean I win, or do I have to wake her up, oooor what's going on here?"

Meiyun was fighting as though for dear life. In a way, she was. Of course, even in her hyped-up state fueled by her lifelong fantasies of being like the same heroes she saw on TV and the pages of manga, Meiyun didn't actually think that Yunaka would go so far as to kill her - but she knew she couldn't give up. If she did, it would be the ultimate failure. It would cement her as a wanna-be; as someone who wasn't enough, no matter how hard she tried and how dearly she had strived for success. It would prove that everything Mei wanted to be, and everything she dreamed of one day becoming, was a farce, and that her efforts were all for naught. That was too grim a prospect to even entertain!

Her body was growing heavy; the world around her began to spin. As she tried to suck in a breath, the air felt hot and stifling against her lungs, sending a shudder through her body. The cheer of the crowd was fading in and out of clarity as Meiyun dipped up and down into the depths of unconsciousness. But she was determined. One way or another, she was going to fight it to the end. She had to get out of Yunaka's chokehold, and if she had to force her way out of it, she would! Her fingers clutched tenaciously around Yunaka's arms, even as her muscles trembled, and she yanked out to the sides as hard as she could, her teeth tightening into a haggard grimace...

And...nothing happened. In her sapped state, Meiyun couldn't possibly get enough strength behind her efforts to pry Yunaka's arms off her throat. It was her last hope of escape, and it wouldn't work. The realization hit her like a brick to the face, causing her eyes to go wide as something dropped in the pit of her stomach. Her jaw fell open in a silent gasp. And it was just then that Yunaka clamped down harder than ever! She squeezed Meiyun with such force that the brunette felt like her head was about to burst. She threw her head back to scream, but nothing came out of her airless lungs. And then, just moments later...Meiyun at last went limp, falling slack in Yunaka's arms.

A silence went over the arena. This match was supposed to be decided by submission only. But Meiyun obviously couldn't keep fighting. What was she to do? No one had accounted for how stubborn she would be in laying out the stipulations to this match. Yunaka called the referee over, but she had no better answers to this predicament than anyone else. "Um...well...the rules only said a fall can end with a submission. So I guess we'd need to wait for her..."

Meiyun, at least, would make the decision process a little easier. Not long after the ref girl said that, she began to stir - groaning groggily, not even lifting her face up from the mat, but now that Yunaka had let her go, some strength had begun to return to her. She knew right away that she needed to get out of harm's way, and she extended a shaky hand, grabbing for the mat to try and pull herself toward the ropes. But she'd barely had any time to recover from falling unconscious. If Mei didn't get away soon, she would be in no shape to defend herself.

Gee, wonderful. Just absolutely fantabulastic, thought Yunaka when the ref told her that even Meiyun going unconscious wouldn't end the round. Nothing but a submission could accomplish that. Yunaka didn't say it out loud, not wanting to risk whatever consequences might come from drawing the ref's ire. But the look on the normally cheery redhead's face probably said much of what she felt.

Yunaka was about to try waking up Meiyun with the most painful hold she could think of, but the Chinese wrestler woke from her chokehold induced slumber surprisingly quickly. Quickly enough that while Yunaka had released her chokehold, she hadn't actually gotten up off of Meiyun's back yet. Which meant that the Hakka girl's attempt to reach the ropes before the redhead could pile on would prove futile.

Yunaka promptly grabbed Meiyun by her wrists and scooted back until her butt was sitting on top of the Lightweight's own rear. Then the redhead would plant both of her feet into Meiyun's back and push with all the strength her legs could muster. And she would pull back on Meiyun's arms with all the strength her own arms could bring to bear, locking her into a nasty Surfboard Stretch. This also meant that Meiyun would have to give up verbally were she to finally decide to submit. But Yunaka didn't consider that when she applied her hold, and she wouldn't care even if she did realize. Anyway would work for the redhead, she just wanted the freaking round over with.

For a moment, Meiyun thought she had a flicker of hope. She was out of breath; the world around her was still blurry and spinning, and everything moved in and out of focus. Her eyes were glassy and half-lidded, and her tongue lolled out of her mouth as her shoulders rose and fell with hoarse breaths. But she was still in it! She had sworn that she wouldn't go out without a fight, and even as it seemed that Yunaka was about to choke her into submission, Meiyun was still holding onto the embers that she just might be able to escape, as long as a miracle happened. And now, it seemed, that miracle did! She had just enough strength left in her such that when Yunaka let her go, she could draw in a breath and shake herself back to the waking world. When Meiyun's eyes opened, she wasn't even entirely sure if she herself believed that she had woken up in time. But however weary it was, a smile nevertheless crossed her face. As long as she could still fight, as long as she hadn't been counted out...then she still had a chance!

At least, she thought she did. For as much as Meiyun believed in underdog stories and shocking come-from-behind victories that defied all odds, as much as she wanted to believe that she too was one of the heroes everyone could put their faith in, she simply couldn't make it a reality. She had just barely woken up from unconsciousness, and Yunaka was still fresh and ready to go. Mei had barely crawled an inch away before Yunaka suddenly shoved herself back up to her feet - directly on the girl's spine!

At first, Meiyun's jaw dropped with a gasp, her opponent's sudden shift in motion catching her completely off guard. But when the initial shock wore off, she was reminded of what was really happening to her - Yunaka was standing directly on top of her back. And it hurt! The brunette threw her head back in a wail that left some fans in the crowd wincing about what she had endured. When her body was already sore and weary from what she'd been through, her back could hardly withstand any more punishment, and all the pain of the hold was amplified tenfold! Her arms were faring little better; Yunaka pulled at them with such force she could swear they were going to pop out of their sockets! Meiyun's eyes squeezed shut, trying to stifle tears of pain from flowing down her cheeks. She really didn't want to do this. She didn't want the score to be left at 2-0 so early on in the match. But if she couldn't get out of this one...she didn't have a choice.

"I...I submit-!!" Meiyun cried out, stuttering through the words - even saying them made her shudder, knowing she was betraying everything she knew about herself. But one way or another, it had to be done. "Please...please let me go-!"
