Cowgirls & Bandits - Bandita (D) vs Cassidy Ryder

Post by CyanDimitrik »

Standard Match
Winner declared by Pinfall, Submission, or DQ

The flight to Japan was long, much longer than any of the Reyes family could've predicted. For three out of four members of the family, it was even their first time flying. Lola's hands were full with taking care of Marisol's fears; thanks to the warm and comforting presence all grandmothers seem to possess for younger children, she'd manage to lull the girl to sleep a few times. Diego was the opposite, full of wide-eyed wonder and questions for the flight attendants and any nearby passenger who would humor him. Whether or not they could speak Spanish.

Camille was somewhere in between. Long periods of her forehead resting on the glass of her window watching clouds roll by, her spirit wrestled with the uncertainty of what they were all getting into. Life's recent upheaval with the death of their mother and father and the transfer of custody to Nana Lola was chaos enough, but it feels like in short order everything has been uprooted a second time. This federation wanted her badly enough to move her entire family to Japan as a condition of her signing. That spoke highly of the faith they put in her as an investment. And she's getting to continue the pursuit of her dreams, and not only that, but on a much, much larger stadium with greater accolades at stake. She gets to continue fighting to support her struggling family. But was it the right thing to do? Her younger brother and sister were looking at it as an adventure, but Lola is older. Wiser. More worldly. She'd know the risks they were taking. How it could all fall apart so easily. A part of her feels like she put the people who love her up as collateral on a high stakes gamble, and went all in on herself.

It's terrifying.

Everyone was jet-lagged and ragged by the time they landed. Fortunately the contract-signing was quick and painless, and everything looked - to her fatigued eye, at least - to be on the up and up. They would stay in a cramped apartment for now. It was the best they could hope for, and it was on the bottom level of a multi-rise complex. Translator apps on phones would prove invaluable in shopping and navigating the city. There was a quiet, nervous hopefulness in the family; a supportive veneer stretched dangerously thin over the growing realization that life had just become very different, very quickly, and all their hopes rested on the narrow shoulders of their eldest sibling.

The day came for Camille to prove herself. She hugged her family extra tight, and Lola assured her they would be there cheering for her; the loudest voices in the audience. It took Camille a long time to figure out how to make it to the arena, but it was fortunately still very early. Early enough to skirt aside to somewhere discreet, don her mask, and make her approach. So enters Bandita, quiet and discreet as a shadow, before the ring had even been unpacked for assembly.

-----

It feels like it got so loud so quickly. Like it went from quietly listening to stagehands milling about and craft services being set up to the distant but growing buzz of an audience. Now it was a steady roar just beyond a curtain.

Bandita takes a final moment to check herself over. There are no second chances to make a first impression, after all. Her stylized gear is all in place - trunks foux-belted with leg harnesses, frilly boots, and her top with a feigning similarity to a bolero jacket, all secure and snug about her slender being. The wrists are rotated to examine her bracers, and she pats a palm briefly over one kneepad, then the other. She straightens her posture and whisks her free hand over the ruffles over her flamenco skirt, letting it flare just enough to annoy a nearby technician. She self-consciously adjusts the tilt of her hat, and finally, at lasts, takes a breath and squeezes the coiled whip in her right hand a little tighter.

Time to make the wildest, most unique entrance this audience has ever seen. She hopes.
Her music begins.
It's a driving tune, fiery and energetic, full of ambition. A mix of traditional Spanish musical instruments and composition and ultra-modern sensibility and flare, all in a wonderfully theatrical package. It's the perfect representation of Bandita. The audience just doesn't know it yet.

The massive screen is lit in graphical flames as two words etched in distinct, scorched font scroll by with each guitar roll:

VIVA

BANDITA

Then the feed comes alive with a series of recorded moments of Bandita's highlights in Mexico; wild aerial finesse, dramatic submission holds, slick technical executions. And with it, she emerges from the shadows of the gorilla position and into the cascading light of two tracking spots, left hand on her hip and bright, confident smile on her face.

A pair of flaming pyrotechnics erupt behind her, and the whip held in her right hand deftly unfurls with a forward snap and loud *CRACK*! The whip whirls back and snaps again and again, each time in increasingly intricate displays of control, coordination, and flash, snaking the length of black leather around her gracefully spinning form and terminating each movement sharply in precise, miniature sonic booms.
*CRACK* *CRACK* *CRACK*

The audience is instantly thrilled. They're always eager to see a new face in the roster, but Bandita is coming out swinging right from the start. Her goal going in was to make an impression that would last. Hopefully this gives them something to talk about before even the match begins, all while paying homage to her late father.

"INTRODUCING!," begins the announcer. "Making her LAW debut! At a height of 5'6", and weighing in at 117 lbs.!"

"From Cancún, México!"

"La Bonita Bandoleraaa~!"

"BAAANDIIIITAAAA!"

Bandita understood most of that, at least. She appreciated they worked in the proper accent for her home city and country, and even kept the epithet she'd earned working in the west!

With a smooth, fluid roll of the wrist, the whip is quickly drawn into a loose coil and the masked girl makes her way down the ramp. Her free hand lifts, waving cheerfully to the audience members who shout their praise near the guard rails. Rather than go straight into the ring upon reaching the edge, however, she circles the perimeter to set the whip upon the comms desk. Her hat is given a little twirl between her palms before it finds its resting place upon the bundle as well. She shoots them a wink-- then she's off! Racing at a sprint to finish the circle around the ring, slapping a train of high-fives along the way until she positions herself once again at the base of the ramp.

The flamenco skirt billows as she bounces twice on her boots, then flares as she rushes the ring. It's a vertical leap up onto the ring's edge, then a second vertical leap to flip over the top rope, landing in a handspring on the other side. Upon finding her feet, the girl twists over with a flare of the skirt, executing two clean handless cartwheels, legs scissoring through the air. It comes to a halt with both feet planted and her right hand raised, pointing to the sky with radiant enthusiasm.

Now the audience is ready. Now the audience has gotten their first look at Bandita and her mix of agility and athleticism. Her showmanship. Now they just need to see her wrestle. They need to see what she's got under the hood, so to speak. The real test.

Bandita moves to her designated corner and begins fiddling with the sash of her skirt to finish removing her entrance attire...

The lights dimmed just enough for the arena to shift from excited anticipation into curious suspense. Bandita had already dazzled them with speed, flair, and spectacle…but now the crowd waited to see who exactly was coming out to meet her.

Then—

A loud, obnoxious truck horn BLARED through the arena speakers.

HOOOOONK! HOOOOONK!
Spoiler
The audience jumped before immediately bursting into laughter and cheers as a southern-fried electric guitar riff kicked in behind it. The titantron flashed alive in glowing gold and rustic brown, the massive logo blazing across the screen:

CASSIDY RYDER

A cowboy hat tilted over the top of the lettering while animated rope spun around the logo in looping circles beneath flashing saloon lights.

Then came the voice.

“NOW HOLD ON JUST A DOGGONE SECOND, JAPAN!”

The curtain burst open and out strutted Cassidy Ryder herself.
Cassidy Ryder
Image
The Texas cowgirl swaggered onto the stage with all the confidence in the world, thumbs hooked against her belt loops as she looked left and right toward the roaring crowd. A smirk spread across her lips beneath the brim of her tan hat. Her cropped golden jacket shimmered beneath the lights with every step she took, fringes swaying from her sleeves while the blue-and-white top underneath hugged tightly against her athletic frame. Short denim-style trunks showed off her long legs while her brown wrestling boots stomped loudly against the stage.

Cassidy tilted her head slightly upon spotting Bandita already in the ring.

“Well Ah’ll be damned…”

She gave an exaggerated whistle.

“Would ya lookit that, folks? Ah knew LAW was hirin’ talent from all over the world, but Ah didn’t know they ordered themselves a whole firecracker straight outta Mexico!”

The crowd reacted loudly while Cassidy tipped her hat toward the ring respectfully.

“But lemme make somethin’ real clear before this gets too cute…”

She pointed directly toward Bandita.

“Ah ain’t one’a these fancy lil’ gymnasts y’all clap for politely while sippin’ wine and eatin’ crackers.”

Cassidy slapped a hand against her chest.

“Ah’m Cassidy Ryder, sugar! Texas born, raised, and mean enough ta whoop a tornado in a bar fight!”

A louder cheer answered that one.

She started down the ramp now, loose and relaxed, talking the entire walk like silence physically hurt her.

“And Ah gotta say…”

Cassidy continued loudly.

“You got style, sweetheart. Fancy flips, fancy whip, fancy little skirt thing goin’ on—”

She squinted.

“Though Ah swear Ah saw one’a them stagehands almost lose his whole soul when ya twirled it.”

The audience laughed while Cassidy snickered to herself.

“But all them tricks only matter once that bell rings! See, where Ah come from, people don’t care how pretty ya entrance is.

Cassidy cracked her knuckles.

“They care whether or not ya can survive gettin’ punched in the mouth.”

By now she’d reached ringside. Instead of entering immediately, Cassidy climbed onto the apron and leaned casually against the ropes, eyes scanning Bandita up and down.

Then she grinned wider.

“…Still though,”

she admitted.

“Ah kinda like ya already.”

With that, Cassidy suddenly vaulted over the top rope in one fluid motion, landing hard on both boots before throwing her arms wide dramatically.

“SO JAPAN!”

She pointed to herself proudly.

“Y’all ready ta see some good ol' Wild West Showdown ya see in the movies!?"

The crowd roared.

Cassidy removed her hat with a flourish before tossing it toward her corner, then rolled her shoulders loose as she approached the center of the ring.

“C’mon then, Bandita…”

Her grin sharpened into something competitive now.

“Let’s raise a little hell.”

Bandita wasn't sure what she was expecting. She was too focused on loosening the skirt to remove the draping fabric from her slender hips, fully revealing the toned legs beneath and briefs-cut trunks stylized with red foux-belts and garters. The whole ensemble played deeply into a blend of professional wrestling and gimmick adherence, her own Spanish west style emphasized in every last detail. She couldn't have anticipated Cassidy Ryder would be a cowgirl to counter her bandit style. And she definitely didn't anticipate the blaring sound of a big rig's horn cutting through the audience.

HOOOOOOOONK! HOOOOOOOOONK!

The sound cuts through her concentration with enough surprise to make the luchadora pop several inches off her feet, eyes wide and jaw clenched. Thankfully she didn't rip her skirt in the process! But the material is quickly bundled and dropped on the outside of the corner, turning to the entrance with interest.

A voice? A voice cutting through? Speaking English! Twangy English! And recognizing the cowgirl motif instantly, Bandita doesn't even attempt to hide the smile blooming on her youthful face. It's unclear if she's seeing Cassidy as her rival just yet, or as a fascinating part of the show. Maybe it's even both. But there doesn't appear to be a single iota of ill will or haughtiness on her excited face as she grips the top rope and leans forward to watch and listen.

She's called a firecracker, and Bandita's head ducks with earnest bashful flattery before leaning in again. Cassidy declares herself mean enough to whoop a tornado in a bar fight, a completely alien idiom she's positive the older girl made up right on the spot. But it's charming! This whole thing is charming! This is what the big time is meant to be! She was already larger than life back home, but this is even bigger! It's gloriously over the top and amazing!

Cassidy mentions the stagehand about "losing his whole soul" when she twirled the skirt, and a soft rouging hits the girl's cheeks instantly. She turns her face away, left hand raised to her cheek in a new bout of sweet bashfulness. It's not like she doesn't feel amazing when she's entering the ring, or that she doesn't know all eyes are on her in admiration during those entrances. It's how she earned the epithet of "the pretty bandit"! But hearing it said outright still triggers a wholesome part of her heart, a sense of modesty despite... well, everything. She steals a peek back at Cassidy through her mask and parted fingers.

When Cassidy makes the assertion about being punched, Bandita turns her face to her again and grips the top rope in both hands. Her smile is still there, but it has that eager edge to it again; excitement, fire, passion, all reflected in those hazel-green, almond eyes. And naturally, Cassidy has to go and throw her for another loop when she says she likes her. This time, a laugh escapes her - caught off-guard. The laughter eases into a happy, cute giggle into her hand when Cassidy presents herself to the audience, now hatless, and leaning on the country motif again, absolutely charmed by it all.
Keeheehee!
At last, Cassidy's bombastic entrance seems to've drawn its focus to addressing the rogue in the ring, and Bandita gets her delighted giggles under control. But nothing's taking that smile off her face. "I'm so glad is you who's going to be my first opponent in 'dis ring," she says, speaking English. Her words are honeyed in the rich accent of her homeland, her voice perky and youthful, sweet. "I don't think I could've asked for someone better. And! And! We speak 'de same language!"

It might seem a small thing in the context of a full contact sport. But it makes Bandita feel a little less isolated. Even if it's with tonight's opponent.

Her gaze dips to Cassidy's boots, slowly trailing up her figure to finally take her in. Long legs, slim waist, toned stomach... hard to see her fitness level with the jacket on, but she's pretty sure she's corded with smooth muscle. On upwards to her tomboyish, country-spunky face with short blonde hair and big blue eyes. She's pretty.

So it'll be a pretty cowgirl versus a pretty bandit. The headlines will write themselves.

Bandita uptilts her chin in a show of defiance. Her stance squares, fringed boots planted on the mat, and her left hand finds the smooth curve of her waist while the right fist raises to shoulder-height in confident challenge. Still, nothing is suppressing that smile.

"And I plan to give you 'de match of your life, Cassidy Ryder! My moves aren't just for show! So do your best an' try to keep up, ah?"
The referee-girl steps forward to intercede between them, attempting to usher Cassidy back into her corner to give her the pat-down. Then, naturally, to make sure both wrestlers are ready to go. By that point, Bandita is hopping on place, weight shifting seamlessly from boot to boot, arms swinging. Nice, loose, limber, and energetic.
