A Valiant Debut: Belinda Northman vs Makie Akamatsu (D)

Perched up on the turnbuckle, Makie watched as Belinda slowly rose to her feet. Makie waited, heart racing, for the right moment: too late, and Belinda would have time to duck or dodge. Too early, and her attack would not land with the force she wanted. She waited until Belinda was finally stumbling back upright...before she launched herself off the corner post, legs snapping for Belinda's head!

The result was extremely effective: Makie spun around, using her grip around Belinda's head to flip her hard down onto her back! The crowd went wild as the newcomer landed a near-perfect hurricanrana on the Swedish veteran and leaving her sprawled on the mat! Dropping to her butt, Makie smiled at the cheers, exhilarated that she was actually doing well against Belinda Northman, of all opponents!

Without wasting any time, Makie crawled over towards Belinda and lay across her chest, hooking one of her legs. In an instant, the ref was beside them, starting the countdown.

"ONE..."

Belinda had been taken down as those legs of Makie's snapped around her head and then her entire world was jerked upside down before the blonde hit the canvas with a hard thud! Belinda was sprawled out on her back, her chest heaving as she had been taken down by Makie's hurricanrana! It also looked as if the Japanese fighter had no intention of letting the blonde rest, as she crawled on top of the Californian's chest and hooked her leg!

The referee moved in and began the pin count, slapping her hand down against the mat once...then a second time as she called out loudly " TWO!..."

When she raised her arm up though for the third count, Belinda would grit her teeth and with a burst of strength she would buck, kicking up and throwing her shoulder up to break the pin count! Huffing out as she would lay on her side, with her arm moving down to reach for her upperback to try and nurse it.

Makie was lying across Belinda now, the side of her head practically nestled against Belinda's chest as she tried to pin the Swedish girl down. Her heart beat more quickly now as the count reached two. For a brief moment, she considered that this might be it: that she was about to score an upset win against a seasoned veteran like Belinda Northman! Could this be it? A massive win to mark her debut in LAW?

No. With a sudden surge of movement, Belinda kicked out, getting a shoulder up! Kneeling upright, Makie rubbed her face in exhaustion and frustration. She was going to have to try even harder to keep Belinda down, she knew, which meant she'd have to go all out against the blonde. Fine, she thought; if it was war the blonde wanted, it was war she would get.

Hopping to her feet, Makie began to climb up onto the ropes trying to get up so that her boots were now on the top rope. Taking a few seconds to balance herself, Makie would raise a fist to the crowd, and with a cry of "Ya-TAAA!" she would spring off the top rope, aiming to come down on Belinda again with a moonsault while the Swede was hopefully still down!

Shoving her shoulder up, Belinda was able to break the pinfall after the two count...the referee held her hand up to show two fingers, signaling to everyone that it had been a two count. The blonde would pant out a bit, as she laid on her back...she noticed Makie get off her and heard her boots stomp against the canvas as she made her way to the ropes. Seeing how the young Japanese fighter had decided to climb the ropes and get to the top of that corner turnbuckle....Belinda chose to remain supine for a bit longer.

Belinda hadn't fully planned on playing possum, but given the chance to take a few more seconds to recover worked well for her. As Makie jumped off the top ropes and began her descent...the blonde would curl her legs up and raise her knees! Looking to have Makie crash belly first down onto those knees of the Belinda Northman for a counter attack!

For a moment, Makie thought that she was now in control of this match. Belinda was down, and wasn't getting up: by the look of things, she was still stunned by Makie's earlier hurricanrana. Makie felt a thrill of excitement in her heart: if she pulled off her next move, then she could actually win this. Here, in her debut match in LAW, she could actually pull off an upset win against a seasoned pro like Belinda Northman! Climbing to the top rope and riling up the crowd, Makie launched herself into the air, flipping to come down on Belinda in a beautifully executed moonsault...

...and saw, as she descended, that Belinda was raising her knees up.

"FUUU---" was all that Makie managed to say before her chest collided hard with Belinda's raised knees. The air exploded from Makie's lungs as she was sent flipping backwards and flopping uselessly into her back. Crading her chest with one hand, Makie breathed hoarsely, her body sprawled next to Belinda's as she was left devastated by Belinda's counter!

Belinda could only wait for her trap to be sprung, and the second that Makie took off from the top ropes she raised her knees! The trap was set and there was no escape for Makie Akamatsu now, as the Japanese newcomer descended onto the knees of the Swedish-American. Belinda felt Makie's torso collide, and hissed out a bit at the sensation as she then saw Makie flop back and off her, ending up on her back....

The blonde huffed out, pushed herself up to a seated position and then would move to grab a hold of Makie by her ankles. She'd try and force Makie to roll over onto her front. Belinda would then move up to her feet and step in next to Makie, raising her right arm up and then dropped down as she sought to drive her elbow into the small of Makie's back for a standing elbow drop! She knew now that she couldn't give any quarter when it came to this young Japanese wrestler, and she was going to make sure to work her over good before going for the finish.
