Kokomi vs Pearl Fortley - Standard match

After delivering her kick, Kokomi remained in the center of the ring and proudly posed in front of the Young Lionness who had just taken several steps back. It wasn't often that the mermaid was able to push her opponents this far, even if she hadn't fallen onto her knees or back. Pearl took the opportunity to throw herself at Kokomi and the mermaid was used to this kind of thing and knew how to react, especially after losing a good number of lock ups.

She accepted her opponent's hands so she could also wrap hers and backed away from her sandstone before falling because of the pressure, she was obviously fooled by her opponent's hammer lock because she was not expecting a such a complicated hold coming from a Young Lionness and groaned softly in pain before laughing, turning her head to mock her opponent who thought she was acting like a professional by showing more technique than Kokomi.

“You idiot!”

The referee intervened, standing next to Pearl and ordering her to release Kokomi for a rope break. Kokomi's foot was placed on the lower rope, she had stepped back of her own accord especially in case of unforeseen circumstances so that the referee would be on her side and not find herself in a submission hold for too long.

Pearl had gotten overconfident. Maybe, she had thought, if she showed some form of unexpected prowess, her opponent might back down, or panic. This wasn’t the case. Instead, in her zeal, Pearl had neglected the rules of the match. As soon as the referee called for a rope break, Pearl hurried to disengage, backing away with her hands in the air. Her opponent seemed pissed, at the very least, if not meaningfully damaged.

Pearl backed off, waiting for Kokomi to regain her footing, before resuming her offensive. The rookie charged forwards, poorly hiding the fact that she was going for an elbow strike. She was running low, aiming at Kokomi’s midsection. If she made contact, she’d stick to what she knew and instead of trying anything fancy, she’d simply grab Kokomi’s shoulders and kick at her heel, to throw her to her back.

Kokomi was used to finding herself at a disadvantage in grappling situations and to avoid being at a disadvantage too often, Kokomi did everything to find herself close to the ropes to be able to aim for the rope break more easily. It was not a very elegant or exceptional technique but sufficient against a Young Lionness. She actually released it thanks to the intervention of the referee but was met with a blow to her midsection, making her sigh in pain and fall.

The mermaid's misfortunes did not end there because Pearl was fast and took advantage of this situation to impose her pace and keep her opponent, striking Kokomi's heel and making her fall to the ground, to her knees.
