Knocked senseless by her opponent's finishing move, Mizuki was only faintly aware of her surroundings. She could hear the cheers of the crowd, and she could see Yuna dancing around and playing to the fans, who seemed to show no sympathy for the brutal beatdown she had suffered. She hardly needed to put much thought to it to realize that she had been dealt yet another embarrassing and painful defeat. That had become her life by this point - and, even if she could accept it as a price she needed to pay in order to get through college, it never made it any easier. She blinked a few times, the strength slowly returning to her - but all she could do was let out a low groan as she turned her head downward, trying to hide her face in shame. There, she shut her eyes tight, trying to stifle the tears that were welling up in them. She'd already been hurt and humiliated enough - no one needed to see her cry, too. Especially not Yuna, who was almost certainly going to rub it in her face.
But when Mizuki opened her eyes back up, the first thing she saw was Yuna kneeling over her, her eyes locked on hers. The brunette's eyes went wide, and a shiver ran through her spine as her body tensed. She was still sore all over, and to even move a muscle when everything felt so stiff and heavy was next to impossible. She was trapped. And if Yuna was staring her down, she already knew the blonde could only be up to no good. Whatever she had in store for her, Mizuki had no way to escape. The hairs stood on the back of her neck, and she trembled with fear. "P-Please, don't hurt me..." she whispered in a timid voice, barely above a whisper - but she was already sure that wouldn't work on Yuna.
Except...Yuna wasn't even going to hurt her at all.
When the blonde expressed concern for Mizuki's safety, she didn't even know how to respond. All she did was blink a few times, staring back at her mouth agape. After all Yuna had put her through, and after all she had done to lord over her and make her feel so small, insignificant, and powerless...was she actually worried about her? And now, she was offering to help her? Maybe Yuna wasn't quite as bad as she seemed. But out of all the people to actually take pity on her, and to want to help out...Yuna may well have been the last person she expected to do so.
She was still thinking through what had happened to her as Yuna turned to leave the ring - once again laughing with sadistic glee, as though nothing had happened. No one knew what she had shared with her defeated opponent, and no one suspected anything. But Mizuki stared after her, and as she finally disappeared through the curtains, a smile crossed her face for just a moment. Maybe she wasn't so alone after all. Maybe, even as she picked herself up with a wince and a shudder, rubbing at her sore back as she limped off after Yuna...there was still hope.
