The Return of the H1 Climax Tournament

Unread post by winner3 »

Hello, LAW folks!

I'm happy to announce that we're now ready to facilitate the return of the H1 Climax Hentai Title Tourney from years past!

This tourney will consist of a series of hentai matches, where competitors will advance until we have a winner in the final. The winner of the H1 will be crowned our next LAW Hentai Champion.

But how do official LAW Tourneys like this one work? How many people are entering? What do we like about tournaments at LAW? Please allow me to try to clarify some of that below.

FAST FACTS:
  • The H1 Climax will have a hard cap of up to 12 entrants and a minimum of 8
  • All the matches will be one-fall hentai matches
  • The rounds will all take place in parallel, with the opening round made visible to the public and the later rounds being publicized as the quarterfinal/semifinal/etc matches are completed
  • Each entrant must have 3 completed matches in order to participate. Exceptions are considered for situations where a user has not been able to finish three matches despite making an effort
  • Booking is decided by the organizer(me!) with user preferences gathered and considered. Match finish, length, storytelling devices and presentation remain in control of the users roleplaying the matches
  • The tentative start date for the event is a week before Valentine's Day on February 14th. Feel free to incorporate elements of the holiday into your matches and stories for the event. Please apply before the tentative end date for signups on February 7th

Why Award Titles via Tournaments? Why are Tournaments so popular at LAW?
As I mentioned in a previous post, the LAW Hentai Title has been vacated. This Tournament Event will help us crown a new champion. But it's important to know what you can expect from most tournaments at LAW, what the pros and cons of them are, and what purpose they serve for storytelling.

Tournaments have historically been very popular events here. They allow a group of people to participate in a series of matches that make everyone feel a bit more included than they would for a Supercard for PPV event. There are opportunities for storytelling between rounds and it can be fun to follow each individual wrestler's journey through the tournament to see how they do. This particular tournament, just like the last H1 Climax is an opportunity to showcase LAW's Hentai Division and each participant's drive and desire to win the Hentai Championship and cement themselves as one of the best hentai wrestlers in LAW's history. That's how we approached the last H1 Climax and this one will be very much the same, hopefully with new and old faces that want to show off what the top talent in the Hentai Division is all about.

Of course, tournaments have their own downsides. In most tourneys, half of all the participants get eliminated every round until there's only one person left. This means that half the participants will only get to wrestle one match, which can feel unideal. It can be hard to both organize a tourney and participate in one if everyone comes in with the expectation that they should win the whole thing. Therefore, it is important that everyone tempers their expectations and strives to use LAW Events as storytelling devices for fun. If you choose to apply, I ask that you please do so because you want to involve yourself in stories surrounding the hentai title and because you want to enjoy collaborative storytelling with other members of the community, and not just because you're interested in winning a title.

In an effort to work on the downside I mentioned above, I've tried to put together a more inclusive, more casual/newbie-friendly event. I'm trying to launch a second tournament alongside this one. If you don't make it into this tourney or if you're looking for something with a lower barrier to entry, I strongly encourage you to check out our Double Elimination Tourney coming up soon.

How will the H1 Climax work? How do I sign up?:
  • Your character must have 3 completed matches OR have one completed match in LAW's Proving Ground Hentai Sauna Match Event. Hentai wrestlers are encouraged but anyone who meets these requirements can enter even if they haven’t wrestled a hentai match
  • Please send me a private message on the forums with the qualified character you would like to participate in. Please include "Hentai Tourney"/"H1 Climax" or message text to indicate which tourney. Please also submit the character with a profile link attached
  • Once we are at capacity on entrants or when signups close, I’ll reach out to everyone individually and provide a full list of who is entering and which characters they'd like to use. Everyone participating will have a chance to swap their character to a different qualified character on their roster if they desire. I will then share the updated list with them, and once everyone is happy, I will publish it here so that the community knows who's participating in the tournament and who to root for (or against).
  • Once we get to this step, I'll be gathering personal preferences from participants with a questionnaire asking preferred opponents/users to work with, users they don't want to work with, how far they'd like to see their character go, etc. NOTE: This feedback will not be shared with anyone outside the event team.
  • Afterwards, I'll attempt to book the tourney to everyone's satisfaction as best I can. Please note that "booking" will only consist of me informing which character in the match is meant to advance. All other aspects are entirely up to the writers.
  • If you do not feel comfortable trusting me to do a good job of booking the tourney, that's okay. You can pass on this event. The "booking" will only consist of myself telling the users in each given match which of them is meant to advance via winning or be eliminated via defeat. The way this plays out (match finish, length, storytelling devices, moves, and other details) will be entirely up to the two users involved in each match so long as the designated victory wins and advances
  • Once all of the above is settled, all the matches will begin at the same time, allowing everyone to work on their tournament matches in parallel. The later rounds past the opener will become available when the majority of the matches are completed (i.e. the semifinals will be made public when most of those matches are completed, and so on)

This will be our process. I'll say again for emphasis that these events are meant to be fun storytelling devices and I encourage people to participate and to have fun with our tournaments. LAW has a rich history of users enjoying our tourney events and I'd like to keep that going with both this and the Double or Nothing Tourney we have coming up

Lastly, I'll tag everyone that I know has expressed interest in this event just to make sure that they're aware it's finally happening. Apologies for the wait, guys
@BlackAkuma @lyannapelon @Albentes @Harem Girl @Sigma Morgan @FreshBritishSalmon @Vc0m @Lightman @Galahad @B.Lemme

If you know anyone who doesn't know this event is coming up, please let them know or let me know so that I can let them know. I always feel for users who aren't on Discord or aren't active on Discord that sometimes miss the boat when it comes to these events, so I try to look out for them where I can.

Please reach out if you have any questions! I hope everyone enjoys participating in and following along with this event!

Hey, everyone! I wanted to thank everyone for their excitement about the H1 Tourney and about the LAW Hentai Title! Many users have put themselves and their characters forward! So I wanted to give a small update about the number of entrants and the number of spaces left available!

For The H1 Tourney, we've got about ~11 confirmed entrants! We will be at capacity very soon! I will be looking to cap things off after we get a 12th! Please act soon if you wish to join in on this event or know someone who does!
