Personality
Sammi is brimming with spirit, hopefulness, and just generally good vibes. The girl makes as much of an effort to brighten people's days as her pink cotton candy hair does to brighten whatever room she's in. She's typically cheerful and animated. Though she's very determined to see her goals through, Defoe is more than happy to have some good clean fun and teasing between her bouts of hard, honest work. Sammi is eager to learn and to prove herself, whether she can convince/prove herself to one person or a hundred at a time, Defoe is committed to cementing a legacy.
Sammi is a big fan of the sport. She has a deep respect for wrestling. She's self-aware enough to realize and acknowledge that she has a long road ahead of her in terms of making her mark as a wrestler and determined enough to pay her dues and to see things through even though she knows it will be hard and even downright brutal at times. Sammi knows that she's got the deck stacked against her. Expectations and preconceptions due to her mother being second in command at LAW, a gulf of experience and ability between her and the top of the food chain on the roster, and still she smiles and gives everything her best effort. Not because she expects to sway everyone in one fell swoop; not because she expects to squash champions and contenders; but because Sammi knows that she needs to put herself out there and learn from every match and encounter if she wants to set herself on the road to success.
History - spoilered for long
Humble Beginnings
Sammi grew up with a very loving father. Her relationship with her mother was complicated at best.
Born as the daughter of present-day LAW Assistant General Manager Angie Defoe, Angie's lust for power and influence didn't exactly set her up to be a major focal point of Sam's life. Her mom was the kind of woman that put work before family. According to Sammi's father, Angie was back at work the very next day after giving birth. The two parents often didn't see eye to eye. And yet, Sammi was a ray of sunshine, even from the time she was a toddler. Though she loved both her parents deeply, while growing up Sammi was always excited for opportunities to see her mom and spend time with her. Angie was seldom home, after all. And even the bare minimum amount of attention from her seemed to satisfy a curious child with boundless energy.
While dear old dad made sure Sammi was given all the attention and nurturing she could need, Angie mostly kept the family's bread buttered by providing. Special treats, outings, extracurricular hobbies - Angie made sure that her rocky relationship with her partner didn't have to mean that Sammi would have a difficult childhood. But as with all things, these privileges came with an agenda. Through her mother, Sammi discovered her two strongest passions: dance, and pro wrestling!

I Wanna Be a Wrestler!
Sammi's dad was worried that she'd take after her mother and find her way into the wrestling industry (he did his best to hide his worry from her over the years). And those fears were made real when Sammi began to show keen interest in her mother's line of work. By the time Sammi was in her early teens, she had learned that her mother was working as a commissioner for a couple of different small indie companies. Sam would ask to go to lots of different wrestling shows with her. She got backstage passes, attended meet & greets, and learned a lot of the ins and outs of her mom's day job. Though she was still learning about the world of wrestling, Sammi would ask to begin training and join her mother's foremost promotion, the Pewter Wrestling Association, at the age of 13.
Behind the scenes, Angie had recognized that her efforts in caretaking had borne fruit. Surely if Sammi had an interest in the industry, she could carry on Angie's will someday. Maybe as a manager, maybe as a corporate figure, maybe even as a wrestler. Unfortunately, Angie had some like-minded staff scattered throughout some of the companies she had a hand in running. The people in charge of training her saw to it that Sammi's training did not go as well, and the results of her assessments reflected that. Angie took this into account alongside the fact that Sammi was more interested in wrestling than managing/clerical work and determined that Sammi had no real future in the sport. But once the spirited pinkette started competing in official matches, she changed her mind.
Sammi was very much figuring things out in her early days of wrestling at the PWA, but one thing she was immediately great at was getting a crowd behind her. With her cute looks, her fluid movements and dance moves, and her loveable attitude, there was always a supportive "Sammi" chant in each of her matches. Win, lose, or draw, people positively loved them some Sammi Defoe! Even though she had a very middling record, fans of the promotion felt she showed promise - that she could be huge someday. Watching Sammi compete even spurred Angie to step into the ring. She cited being inspired by her daughter as her reason for getting into the ring. Angie would go on the win the overwhelming majority of her matches, and against some of the best talent they had to boot. Sammi attended all of her mom's matches and rooted for her. She'd keep her mom up late at night asking for advice and training. She put her heart into trying to get on Angie's level. Angie would go on to become win the PWA's top belt. And for her very first title defense, she called out her daughter.
Having called out her daughter to the ring, Angie waxed poetic about how far Sammi had come and how it had been her dream to have a match like this. Angie explained that she was getting on in years and that she couldn't wrestle forever. She couldn't think of a better way to cap off her career as a late bloomer than to lose the title to her daughter, retire, and completely the passing of the torch. Angie, herself, volunteered to add the stipulation of retiring should she lose. In response, a tearful Sammi drew on the crowd for support. She thanked her mom for steering the PWA from the brink of failure to a massive success. Sammi promised the world to give it her all. To do her best to accept the passing of the torch, no matter how hard it may be, and to capture the championship in order to prove herself as someone who could carry the PWA and the industry as a whole to a new tomorrow. For many, this moment sparked the beginning of a new era. Sammi and Angie both promised to take the promotion to new heights and to make it a global force to close things out.
Their match would take place later that same week. To say there was a full house in attendance would be a huge understatement!

The Big Day and the Aftermath!
Unfortunately for Sammi, the match would go on to be perhaps the single most one-sided bout in the history of the Pewter Wrestling Association.
The match was basically a showcase for Angie, one long promo from start to finish. Angie Defoe explained that Sammi wasn't cut out for this line of work - that the spunky pinkette couldn't hack it in training, that she would struggle to barely put away opponents who were on the bottom rung of the company, all while Angie could steamroll some of the very best they had. But it didn't stop there! Angie revealed that even she hit a wall and struggled to topple some of the guys and gals at the apex of their roster. She had been arranging for select wrestlers to ambush this handful of talents regularly. It was how she won the title in the first place, having the former champion nearly get put on the shelf just minutes before the match. And that all of that was only the beginning! After driving home the fact that she only wanted this match as a stepping stone so that she could squash their most popular star in front of a full house, Angie changed the stipulations once more, live during the match! She made the match an I Quit Match with the added rule that the loser retires from wrestling altogether!
All of this, quite understandably, came as a huge shock to everyone. But perhaps most hurt by all this was her daughter. This news broke a poor, young, naive Sammi. Each attempt to fight back throughout this contest was harshly punished, but after learning that her mother was never on the up and up to begin with, that her title reign was built on cheating, manipulation, and lies - that her short career had been building up to this point where Angie could make her mark by ending Sam's career, Sammi froze. She stopped fighting back altogether. That, of course, didn't stop Angie. She continued her tirade. She continued taking it to her daughter, ultimately ending it by debuting her new finisher (the hold in the image above) - The Hostile Takeover! This move forced an "I Quit" from Sammi, ending her career forever....
In the years that followed, Sammi veered back towards the world of dance. She took classes, joined dance clubs at school, and ultimately took up a gig as a go-go dancer at a nightclub for a year or two after graduating from high school. She had left her days as a wrestler behind. At least, that's what she told her friends and loved ones. Secretly, she kept up with the biggest events and matches on the world stage, however. When news broke out that Angie was in a huge position of power at LAW, Sammi took a deep dive and acquainted herself. And at the same time, her father took notice.
Sammi found herself motivated by the top face wrestlers in the greatest wrestling promotion in the world. She watched matches, promos; she got hyped. And though she tried to keep it a secret, her father took notice. When it seemed like Sammi would consider a return to the ring, she was bummed out by the fact that her I Quit match forced her into a very premature retirement. However, dad came in clutch. A legal loophole in her contract at PWA made the result of the Sammi vs Angie match unenforceable, allowing Sammi to wrestle again! She decided to go for broke this time around, applying directly to LAW knowing that her mother and the rest of the world would have eyes on her wherever and whenever it was she got back into the squared circle. And against all expectations, LAW accepted her into their Young Lioness program so that she could begin training properly from the ground up and pick up where she left off with trying to make her mark on the world!
At this point, Sammi is keenly aware of the fact that her association with her mother may have her meet some preconceived notions. She plans to keep her smile and to shine on in spite of this! Sammi plans to undo Angie's negative impact on the industry by being positive! And she plans to do that by climbing the ranks at LAW and succeeding despite being the spitting image of what Angie believes is just another jobber to feed the ratings machine!
Wrestling Style
Sammi is still malleable at this point in her career. The best things she has going for her are her ability to move quickly and fluidly, and her tendency to read up on wrestlers and do her homework going into matches. But outside of the basics, she has much to learn. Sammi will seek to improve her stats, arsenal of moves, and so on throughout her LAW career. She's always open to learn from and to train with just about anyone she feels she can trust. Sammi doesn't go into each match with the expectation to win. Her first objectives when she gets into a LAW ring are to convince others of her potential and to better herself as she wrestles so that she can find her winning ways. Signatures/Finishers
Pop, Lock, And Drop!
A Meteora from the top rope onto a standing opponent! Often followed by a cover
Gimmick Infringement
Sammi attempts her best rendition of her opponent's finisher! Provided she knows what it is and she has the skill to pull it off (That won't stop this Young Lioness from trying, though!)

Trivia:
- Sammi is quick to point out that her listed height is measured from the top of her forehead. She's a few inches over 5 feet if you count her hair, too!
- The pendant around her neck that she often wears was given to her by her dad. She often takes it off and sets it aside in her corner before matches
- Sammi learned to dance by observing other artists and dancers and imitating them. Years of practice with this helps her pick up other wrestler's moves in the heat of the moment!
