Background: Born and raised in Anaheim, California, Kayla was always full of energy as a child and that pep would follow her through her age. From running around during recess to playing in rec leagues, it was apparent early on that she had exceptional athletic talent and a rather strong drive to excel. This constant energy and happiness would later earn her the nickname "Sunny".
In high school, she would find success in cross country and soccer, but it was the sport that she did not play that found its way into intriguing her the most. As a freshman she joined as a student assistant for the wrestling team, mainly because her then-boyfriend was on the team and it was a way to watch him during practice and meets. Her responsibilities were quite limited: keep the water bottle filled and help move equipment. The other assistants would usually be glued to their phones until a coach got their attention, but Sunny couldn't help but be enchanted by the grappling and would keenly pick up on the technique being shown.
As she continued to be an assistant through her upperclassman years, she began even giving out pointers to some of the newer wrestlers if she noticed they were doing something incorrectly. However, during her senior year one day, her interest skyrocketed. A cocky freshman was having none of what she was suggesting to him and challenged her to a contest. Sunny was able to find an opening and plant the boy onto his back for a pin, to the amusement and enthusiasm of the entire team. She wanted more of this, but with no girl's wrestling offered she had no avenue for this new interest.
Soon after graduating, Sunny would see an advertisement flyer at a local gym that reignited her interest: "Pro Wrestling Talent Wanted". The flyer would then direct questions and info to a Japanese-based organization named LAW. Off a shear gut reaction that this is could be her true calling and that it was destiny for her to see this, she bought a plane ticket to Tokyo, where her pro wrestling journey begins.
Personality: Sunny is positive and outgoing, and always eager to meet new people to go on adventures with. She often flies by the seat of her pants, so hanging around her tends to become a wild ride, for better or for worse.
She is a sweetheart, through and through, and only wants to experience life to her fullest with a few good friends.
Fighting Style: Unpredictable: Sunny is a natural athlete and eager to learn, but she is still very green in both puroresu and martial arts in general. This can lend to a somewhat arbitrary style, for better or worse. She will often go for more flashy attacks - even if lacking in execution - to chase the highlight reel instead of a more fundamentals-based approach.
Strengths: Her endurance and gastank will likely never be an issue, as her cardio training and natural athleticism has her locked in for the long-haul during her matches. She is also quite nimble on the ground, though moreso dealing with pins than submissions.
Weaknesses: She isn't very technically proficient in any of the aspects of puroresu, though her fundamentals of grappling are somewhat strong. Against a skilled aerialist or striker however, she could often be made to look like a fish out of water.
Preferred Matches: Standard, Beach, Tag
Sunny isn't one to welcome fights outside of their recognized areas, and generally prefers standard wrestling rules. Being an LA girl and all, she does have a soft spot for a good tussle at the beach, however.
