One of the key themes Dr. Batson has emphasized since I was a young girl is the importance of sublimation. My mind is configured towards grandiosity ― huge tastes, deep desires, and myself at the center of the picture. That could easily become self-destructive if I failed to find a productive way to channel my unique appetites.

LAW provides an ideal outlet. Stepping into the ring is like standing in the center of the universe. There is so much light ― in my hair, on my skin, in my smile. And what's my job? To make them love me. To be beautiful, to be powerful, to be kind, to make every man and woman in the seats want me. What possible better outlet could there be for someone seeking to manage my condition?

But I know what you're thinking. What about my opponent, hm? I'm not so egotistical that I've forgotten they exist. In fact, they're a key part of what makes the sublimation so effective. I think everyone has urges sometimes, a desire to hurt the people who have hurt them. Don't you ever want to take someone, I don't know who but...someone...and smash their face into a rock until no one will be able to recognize their face ever again? Well. In the ring, you can do that, and the people out there will cheer because they know you deserve it. I think that's beautiful.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not some violent monster ― most days, I prefer sweeter opponents, who build their reputation on big, round eyes and bright, cheerful smiles. There's fun to be had breaking ribs and ripping contrition from the bastards on the roster, but nothing...Nothing beats a well-fought bout with a cute little someone who, after you hold them down for the pinfall, closes her eyes and clenches her fists and smiles while you stroke her darling head and make love to her soft body.

But that's what makes LAW so lovely, isn't it? The variety. The fights. The cheering crowds and bitter, beaten rivals. There is a cute little moniker in the popular literature on narcissism that claims to encompass what people like me want: Sex. Status. Stuff. The three S's of being a bastard. I think that's a reductive, unfair way to discuss people and the complex ways they ache and desire. But it does nicely summarize much of what I want from this beautiful promotion. One day, I will be the kindly, gentle sun at the middle of all this gleaming fun.
Life outside LAW
Wealthy Upbringing: LAW isn't everything, of course, and I had a wonderful life prior. I was deeply fortunate to be born into an excellent family. We had wealth, and that was important, but my parents...had character. They were involved in my life. My mother recognized my condition early and got me treatment while I was still in what you would in America call elementary school, and since then I have learned, from Dr. Batson and others, how to manage myself. My appearance, my feelings. My behavior.

Stuffy Friends: I love the family company ― genuinely. No PR shpeal there. We make toys. High-end stuffed animals, mostly, many custom ordered and one-of-a-kind, made just for that special someone. A good stuffed animal is a friend I can trust to adore me no matter what, and all I have to do is hold her. Hug her tight and feel her warm and close. Needless to say, I have long been my father's most avid customer, which has made me one of his most effective salespersons. Even today.

MMA Training: My first foray into combat was with Savate, which I studied young because it was French, and I thought kickboxing was...appealing. For many reasons, not the least of which being that the image of my knee in Yvette's face gave me a little thrill. You wouldn't know Yvette, of course. Most people don't these days, but she was unpleasant in school. Anyway, I loved what I learned for many of the reasons I love LAW, and training in a multidisciplinary way has been a part of my life ever since. I think, once this train on LAW really gets rolling, I might like to develop a brand for it. A gym, you know? A place where I can help new talent along and try to give back for all LAW has given me.

Style: MMA-Trained Crowd-Pleaser

Strikes: ★★★★★

My first love in combat was Savate, a traditional French style of kickboxing that specializes in tactical footwork. My training in this field provides many less visible benefits ― mobility, mastery over defensive posturing, the ability to strike from unexpected directions, and a solid bar of cardiovascular stamina. This boxing style is the glue that allows me to move into the positions I want, whether for a submission or a KO-strike. What I love best, though, is what most impresses the audience: The kicks. The sweeps at the shin, the knee in the gut, and above all the huge, arcing kicks that can end a match like that when they land. Nothing is as satisfying as the face vermin makes when you smash her pretty lights out with a well-placed axe kick.

Submissions: ★★★★★

Submission-based wrestling is a core part of a balanced fighter's repertoire. A pure striker will not survive long in today's world, and my training has prepared me to hold my own. But let's be honest ― that's not the first or main reason anyone at LAW polishes their ground game. This is a world where sex is queen, where it's important to be able to make your opponent melt in your arms. Imagine the intimacy of a girl helpless in your hold, her neck and bare as you kiss it, every inch of her body yours to explore, to claim, to mark. You can make her scream or make her squeal. That kind of control is what a top-tier ground game can bring you.

Throws: ★★★★☆

I'll admit to ... what was once a weakness. There are of course throws in traditional combat ― judo throws, takedowns, clinch throws. These are all critical. Any MMA fighter would be at least familiar. But in pro wrestling, a throw takes on a whole other meaning. These are power moves, slams and bombs and drops. They seemed...gauche, these huge, ridiculous shows of brute strength. I preferred to win with finesse.

However, I've since learned that audiences at LAW expect things to be big. To be loud. For a series of moves to end on exclamation point that will get them off their feet, fists in the air, screaming. Nothing does that quite like completely dominating your opponent, lifting her physically off the ground, and smashing her head between your feet. So. I've learned. I've adapted. Now I know how to drop an exclamation point at the end of my sentence.

(You know what I've really come to appreciate about this side to my training though? The bulk. Not because I want to look chiseled ― quite the opposite. But it's fun to be able to lift your opponent. Really get them off the ground so they start kicking and squirming. It's a good mood setter, and one that catches a lot of girl off-guard when it comes from a slender little thing like me)

Aerial Techniques: ★★☆☆☆

It is a sign of mature self-awareness to know where one needs to grow. Savate is not fought on ropes. We do not fly. I've made some forays into flips and cartwheels, but...ropes are dangerous. It's easy to be caught in a bad position on them ― to be thrown or sniped off them. Or onto them. It's not strategic to be there, so why should I? Still, it's part of the game. No doubt sooner or later I'll master this, too, though I doubt it will ever be a signature part of what I, or anyone under my instruction, does.

Vulnerabilities:

Classically (Mis)trained: Much of Madeleine's practical training and experience took place in the context of MMA, where aerial techniques and brutality with biting and eye gouging and the use of weapons were not the norm. These techniques tend to catch her off-guard, and she is not as adept at defending against them. She has spent enough time in the ring that these techniques rarely shock her, but they do tend to make her sloppy and to create openings.

Crowd Pleaser: Madeleine craves the love of the audience. When the audience turns against her, it makes her desperate and angry ― more prone to making mistakes, to getting distracted from her opponent, more reckless in her attacks while at the same time less confident in what she's doing.

Frayed Mind: Madeleine is a creature of habit, system, self-management. She is not incapable of adapting, and techniques for improvisation are in fact part of her system. However, when a system fails, repeatedly, it can instill a sense of panic that makes it hard for her to keep up and keep improvising. More importantly, that loss of control can lead her to crave stability...even if stability is under an opponent's heel. There is a hated, unacknowledged part of her that enjoys the relief of relinquishing responsibility.
