Fumie is an eccentric but otherwise good-natured young woman. However, most people do not get to see this side of her. When interacting face-to-face with people she is not familiar with, Fumie typically acts shy and introverted—social situations make Fumie nervous, so being outgoing and sociable is not her natural tendency. However, this is not to say that Fumie is always shy. She can be quite talkative around those she trusts or when discussing something that interests her.
Additionally, almost every waking moment of hers is spent thinking. Computers, hacking, video games, mathematics, anime, science, lewds—these are a proper subset of the topics that Fumie's mind may wander to. She also spends a lot of time teaching herself about random topics and teaching herself new skills. Suffice it to say, Fumie's head is often in the clouds. But Fumie is also capable of extreme levels of focus should something interest her enough—focus can last for days and render her completely insensitive to most outside stimuli.
Fumie's eccentricities are not just limited to absent-mindedness and bouts of hyperfocus, however. Among various other idiosyncrasies, she is quite mischievous and likes to cause trouble—trouble that is mostly harmless, except for when Fumie fails to properly anticipate the effects of her actions. Fumie seldom acts out of malice though, being more akin to a playful gremlin.
It can also be noted, somewhat hyperbolically, that Fumie is an abject degenerate. Years of being exposed to internet culture and LAW hentai matches have corrupted Fumie into the ryona-loving connoisseur of lewds she is today. She also finds the idea of getting lewded/ryona'd herself to be enticingly erotic—and being a part of LAW makes fulfilling that desire all the more attainable.

History

Note
Fumie's backstory, particularly the latter half, was somewhat inspired by her faceclaim's backstory. Anyone who is sufficiently familiar with Persona 5 should be able to see similarities.
Fumie's father was a member of the Suzuki family, a high-achieving family composed primarily of doctors and lawyers—and Fumie's father was no exception, being a patent lawyer at an elite law firm. An extremely career-driven man, he quickly rose to prominence in his field, managing to win a number of high-profile patent disputes for major companies. Yet, in spite of his busy schedule, Fumie's father managed to find a partner—and later spouse—in a similarly successful and career-driven ER doctor.
Fumie came as an unexpected surprise early on in her parents' marriage—a 1 in 100 surprise, considering the typical efficacy of IUD devices. But her parents, being in their mid-to-late twenties, did not feel ready to have a child. However, after much deliberation, the two of them ultimately decided to keep Fumie.
Growing up, Fumie did not receive much parental attention. She had her basic needs taken care of, but her parents were often too preoccupied with work to spend time with her. Instead, especially during her younger years, Fumie was primarily supervised by her grandparents and cousin (technically her aunt) Yukina. However, as Fumie grew older, she found herself increasingly isolated—her grandparents had started working again, and Yukina became increasingly busy with school. Fumie also found it difficult to relate to others her age, which meant that she did not have any friends from school to spend time with.
This left Fumie with a lot of time to herself. To help pass the time, she got into PC gaming at an early age. Shortly thereafter, a desire to hack one of her games motivated Fumie to teach herself binary analysis and binary exploitation. This introduced Fumie to the world of hacking, something which she became prodigiously skilled at over the next decade or so.
Fumie went nuts with hacking during her early adolescent and teenage years. Seeing hacking as a puzzle and a means of testing her skills, Fumie managed to hack into a number of systems including telecommunications, infrastructure, banks, and even some government systems. She also developed a slew of exploits for various systems and software.
It should be noted that although Fumie's actions were often illegal, she was not malicious in her actions—she never did any actual damage with her hacking, save for some relatively innocuous pranks. Moreover, Fumie was careful not to get caught. She kept herself hidden through, among other measures, the use of seven proxies anonymous payment methods such as Bitcoin and Monero, Tor, virtual private networks, Tor, and virtual private servers. She also utilized good practices to help minimize the chance that she would be caught. All of these measures paid off, and Fumie was never caught hacking.
In addition to hacking, Fumie was an avid gamer and was involved in various online communities. She became quite skilled at video games, and likely could have gone pro. Fumie also took a liking to LAW matches, which she streamed via not-quite-legal means. She particularly liked lewd matches and matches involving ryona.
When it came time for Fumie to decide what to do after high school, the answer was clear: she would go to university and study computer science. Studying computer science would be relevant to her interests and would be good for her future career prospects. Enabled by her decent grades and outstanding score on the entrance exam, Fumie began attending Waseda University to study computer science.
Unfortunately, Fumie had a rough time starting out in college. The new environment left her feeling perpetually intimidated. In the huge lecture halls amidst hundreds of students, Fumie felt as if she were a tiny, insignificant mouse, unable to make even a squeak. Her dorm room felt cramped and claustrophobic, like some kind of prison cell. And everyone around her seemed to be making friends, whereas she felt overlooked and forgotten.
Fumie became extremely depressed just mere weeks into the semester. She became reclusive, ditching class, and seldom talking to anyone. Most of her time was spent in her room, either listlessly lying on her bed or sitting on the floor of her shower. She barely did any of her schoolwork, relying almost entirely on pure intelligence to keep herself academically afloat. Meals were consistently skipped, and she ended up losing five kilograms (about 11 pounds). And what little she did eat mainly consisted of instant ramen. When Fumie did venture out of her room, it was almost always either to take an exam or to visit a university dining hall when it was serving her favorite food: chicken tendies sushi and curry rice.
It was during one of these trips to one of Waseda University's dining halls that Fumie spotted Mami Okabe and Miria Hasegawa sitting alone at another table. Seeing two somewhat obscure LAW wrestlers congregating together in a university dining hall piqued Fumie's interest, but she was unable to muster up the courage to walk over to them. Fumie instead kept stealing glances at them until they finally caught her. Seeing that Fumie was wearing a Kat "Super Kitty" Hart

, Mami and Miria figured that Fumie was a LAW fan. More than anything else, the woman just seemed curious. It did not seem like she had any ill-intent. But even if she did, it was clear that Fumie was around their size, if not smaller—probably not much she could do to them.
Fumie's eyes almost seemed to be silently imploring Mami and Miria to approach her. She seemed to be by herself, and her appearance was unusually gaunt, even for someone who clearly had an inherently small frame to begin with. Thus, Mami and Miria decided to walk over to Fumie and strike up a conversation.
Initially, Fumie was extremely nervous about talking to the duo. But Fumie's curiosity eventually overrode her shyness: she had never talked to a LAW wrestler before, let alone two who were around her age and were seemingly friendly. Much to Fumie's relief, the three of them quickly hit it off and they ended up chatting for hours.
Sometime during the conversation, Fumie expressed how much she hated living in her dorm. Mami and Miria pointed out that there was a vacant apartment right next to theirs. Wanting to escape her dorm room and not wanting to lose touch with her new friends, Fumie later moved into that apartment.
It turned out that a number of LAW- and Waseda-affiliated women lived on the same floor as Fumie. Mami and Miria, both LAW wrestlers and Waseda undergrads, lived in the apartment adjacent to Fumie's apartment. Adjacent to them lived Ayame Aoi and Claire Thomas, two LAW trainers/coaches who were also Waseda undergrads. And finally, at the end of the hall, adjacent to Ayame and Claire, lived Yukina, manager for all four of the aforementioned women, graduate student at Waseda, and Fumie's relative/older sister figure—Fumie and Yukina were both pleasantly surprised at this coincidence, although Yukina started to worry that Fumie might end up joining LAW.
Shortly after moving, Fumie's mental state began to slowly improve. She was no longer isolated like she had been before. Yukina's gut feeling also ended up being valid: being surrounded by people affiliated with LAW influenced Fumie to want to join LAW.
Fumie's reasons for wanting to join LAW were multifaceted. Part of it had to do with the fact that everyone else in her social group (Mami, Miria, Ayame, Claire, and Yukina) was associated with LAW. Fumie also (somewhat questionably) figured that wrestling in front of a large audience would be a good way to help her become more comfortable around people. Perhaps more saliently, Fumie found it appealing that LAW wrestlers were essentially given carte blanche to act however they wanted, albeit with some limits. No pressure to conform and not stand out—she could be an unrestrained version of herself. And, underpinning everything else, Fumie was a degenerate who was into lewds and ryona—particularly material where smaller women such as herself got lewded and/or dominated, as she could imagine herself in their position. LAW would give her a chance to live out her fantasies.
Without even thinking to tell anyone else, Fumie went ahead and joined LAW. She also dyed her hair orange as a symbolic gesture, signifying her desire to be more outgoing and not be forgotten. Soon afterwards, Fumie asked Yukina to be her manager and after a fair amount of begging, Yukina reluctantly agreed.

Relationships

  • Mami Okabe - Friend and fellow Waseda undergrad. Biology and biochemistry double major. Fellow LAW wrestler. Miria's roommate.
  • Miria Hasegawa - Friend and fellow Waseda undergrad. English literature major. Fellow LAW wrestler. Mami's roommate.
  • Claire Thomas - Friend and fellow Waseda undergrad. Mathematics major. LAW (grappling) coach. Ayame's roommate.
  • Ayame Aoi - Friend and fellow Waseda undergrad. LAW (striking) coach. Claire's roomate. In the same year and major (computer science) as Fumie. Fumie occasionally helps Ayame with schoolwork. Ayame feels awkward about the fact that Fumie shares a name with her a certain person from her (Ayame's) past.
  • Yukina Suzuki - Older sister figure to Fumie. Technically Fumie's aunt, but Yukina is only five years older than Fumie. Also Fumie's (reluctant) manager and a Waseda graduate student. Majoring in some STEM field. LAW manager.
  • Niko-kun the Siamese Cat - A cat that belongs to Ayame Aoi. Fumie is quite close with Niko, and Fumie even installed a cat door on the front door of her apartment so Niko could visit her whenever he wanted. Even though this mildly annoyed her landlord, Fumie stated that it was "totally worth it". The cat door remains to this day, and Mami, Miria, Ayame, Claire, and Yukina installed their own cat doors soon afterwards.

Quick Facts
  • Sushi and curry rice are among her favorite foods.
  • She has a seemingly endless amount of energy, giving her the ability to work for days at a time without resting—too bad said energy does not translate to her athletic pursuits though.
  • Fumie is extremely skilled at video games and probably could have gone into ESports.
  • Having spent a lot of time online, Fumie is quite knowledgeable in internet culture.
  • Fumie really loves cats.
Secret
  • Despite her main area being hacking/computer science, Fumie has a fair amount of background knowledge in other areas.
  • Although she is normally not open about this, Fumie is quite into lewd/erotic material.
    • Fumie is also a degenerate.
  • Fumie is a hacking prodigy.
    • She started hacking at a young age.
      • Her first foray into hacking was trying to modify video game binaries to cheat. In the process of doing so, Fumie was forced to teach herself some binary analysis and binary exploitation.
    • She generally prefers to break into systems without using social engineering.
      • She is still capable of social engineering, but it is one of her weaker hacking-related areas.
      • Fumie would struggle to perform social engineering in-person/face-to-face.
    • Over the years, Fumie had come up with multiple VM escape exploits, something which is quite difficult to do. She primarily used them to spy on her VPS providers to make sure they were not pulling any shenanigans. (Virtual private servers are typically virtual machines hosted alongside other virtual machines, all on a single physical machine.)
    • Fumie managed to independently discover Meltdown and Spectre a number of years before the vulnerabilities were made public by others.
      • Curiosity as to whether or not the cache state gets rolled back along with register state if and when the results of out-of-order execution are undone led to Fumie discovering a means of surmising values stored at normally inaccessible regions of memory—specifically, what she came up with was essentially Meltdown and Spectre.
      • She kept her discoveries to herself and did not make extensive use of the exploits.
      • Part of Fumie regrets not disclosing her discoveries as it could have given her widespread recognition and jump-started her career. At the same time, Fumie was unsure of how to disclose; and more saliently, she would have had to have interacted with others in an unfamiliar context, something which Fumie was very uncomfortable with.
      • CONTEXT: Meltdown and Spectre were two "catastrophic" security vulnerabilities that were disclosed in January of 2018. These vulnerabilities can allow programs to steal data that is normally inaccessible. The ramifications were massive: the fix for Meltdown made computers slower, and completely fixing Spectre requires changes to the underlying hardware and/or microcode.

¹ NOTE: Not a canon quote. Fumie does not openly talk about her hacking unless she is talking to friends. Even then, she takes care not to mention any of the blatantly illegal stuff she has done/is doing.
² In Japanese, double mountain brackets (i.e.《》) are sometimes used to add emphasis.
