[Backstory]
A young girl who was once a street urchin that lived within the slums of Kingston, Jamaica after she was orphaned at a very young age. Whenever something caught her eye, it was only a matter of time before she’d get it! One day, she would inadvertently steal from a girl that was much older than her.. and was nearly beaten to a pulp until a young woman came to her rescue. Said woman would turn out to be Mestre Bravura, who was able to fend off Shanty’s brutish attacker with her knowledge of taekwondo and capoeira. After learning about Shanty’s condition, Bravura would end up taking her home and adopting her.
She was later introduced to Bravura’s husband Ruvido, a high ranking practitioner of Brazilian Jiujutsu. Wanting to learn how to stand up for herself, Shanty asked the married couple if she could be trained by them. They would accept her request, and she became a natural grappler and kicker overnight! She became one of Kingston’s youngest grapplers, making many of her opponents tap out/pass out whenever she got one of her holds locked in! After nearly several years of training, she would gain her black belt in Taekwondo and her blue belt in Capoeira which turned her legs into lethal weapons! She would later learn that the girl who nearly beat her to a pulp became a professional fighter, and she was calling out Shanty for being a try hard who relies on her mommy and daddy for help! This caused her to be fuming with rage, and wanted to give her a piece of her mind!
After an immense training session and dozens of unorthodox exercises, the day of the fight came. Her opponent was a lot larger than the last time she saw her, but she wasn’t going to let her taunts belittle her any longer! Shanty would end up winning by tiring her opponent out and putting her to sleep with a backpack sleeper. Her performance would catch the eye of a talent scout for LAW, who complimented on both her technique and agility for someone her age. She would end up becoming apart of LAW with her parents in tow, ready to make a name for herself by taking down anyone who’s much larger than her.. showing everyone that size doesn’t always matter!
[Personality]
While she aspires to become the best lightweight in LAW, Shanty can be a bit reckless at times.. often wanting to go after opponents that are much taller than her. Regardless, this doesn’t mean she won’t go down without a fight!
