With her parents working and barely bringing home enough food for her and her sisters, she spent a lot of time dreaming of a better life, and in particular grew enamored with the pro wrestling style - that glamour, that glitz, that paycheck. She trained hard as she grew up, studied the sport, and got her big break before she turned 18.
She was picked up by a fairly notable promotion in the region and began traveling with them, where she had reasonable success. It was only after she met Justine Scarlett that she truly began to soar, however, as the woman took a keen interest in her and became her manager. Under her tutelage, she rose through the ranks and even managed to become a champion for a small time.
That all ended, however, when Elena botched a Shooting Star Press, a move that Scarlett had specifically warned her to avoid. She came down poorly on her neck and was rushed to the hospital, where it was found that she had severe nerve damage. The prospect of returning to the ring was dismal at best, and she thought Scarlett would abandon her.
