History: Sometimes, Mizuki's reflected on the possibility that she's under some kind of curse. For most of her life, she's known misfortune. Growing up in a small town in a poorer household, she didn't have the sorts of luxuries that a lot of other girls her age did. Not only did her family not own a lot, but she struggled with a difficult home life as well. Her parents both worked full-time jobs, and she grew up a latchkey kid, her family often absent from the picture and leaving her to walk home from school to an empty house, fending for herself until well into the evening. With no family around, and no friends at school (where her classmates often teased her), Mizuki grew lonely and often wished to have something more in her life.

If that wasn't bad enough as it were, her father was an alcoholic who drank heavily to cope with the stresses of work. This often times led to him coming back home late, and on the worst nights, he would take his frustration out on his daughter, beating her over the slightest of excuses. Her mother wasn't much better; she was only concerned with work and made little time for her family. The only person in Mizuki's family who she felt she could trust was her grandmother, who genuinely loved her and cared for her but who was unable to do much to help her escape from her situation. They only saw each other on the odd family gathering or when Mizuki's parents left her in her grandmother's care when they had to leave town for business meetings, which the girl grew to look forward to more than anything else.

As time passed and Mizuki went on to graduate from high school (which she had to take in the next town over, her home town not having one), she vowed that she was going to make a change. She couldn't live the way she did any longer, and she wanted to turn things around so that she wouldn't have to worry about supporting herself any more. Hoping to get a well-paying job and move to the city, Mizuki announced to her parents that she was going to apply for college in Tokyo. Her parents were aghast, pointing out that they had financial concerns of their own and that paying for their daughter's tuition at a big-city university was out of their reach. But Mizuki was adamant about getting the education she would need to obtain a better life, and after studying hard for her entrance exams, she managed to obtain acceptance! Even still, her parents were reluctant to pay the costs of her education, and wouldn't allow her to go. Undeterred, Mizuki took matters into her own hands. She packed up everything she could fit in a bag and took the bus to Tokyo.

This, of course, presented its own problems. Mizuki was flat broke, and she had to rely on student loans to pay her way in - which meant that she ended up with considerable debt. She tried to raise money through working jobs around town, as a waitress or a cashier, on evenings and weekends, but she could never hold a job for long, and she began to grow desperate.

One night, Mizuki, unable to bear it any longer, broke down in her dorm, where she explained to her roommate that she didn't know what she was going to do and that she was terrified she wouldn't be able to make enough of a living to support herself. That was when Mizuki's roommate got an idea. She was a passionate fan of wrestling, and proposed that Mizuki could apply for a career in LAW.

The only issue was that Mizuki had no experience with wrestling in her life. She never wrestled, she never watched wrestling, and the clips her roommate showed her only left her afraid that she was going to get paralyzed or worse if she stepped in a ring. But her roommate insisted that she wouldn't need to be any good to get into LAW - they could always use her help backstage, or as someone to beat up to help build up the wrestlers they wanted to push. Mizuki wasn't so keen on that idea, but in the end, she didn't have anywhere else to go other than stripping, which was something she distinctly was not interested in. And sure enough, LAW hired her as a jobber. Mizuki didn't know what to think about the job, but she was thankful just to be paid. She could only hope that it would get her through college without hurting her too badly...

Lately, Mizuki has also taken up working as a waitress at the Wolf and the Bunny to make a little extra money in addition to her matches. It's not the most glamorous of jobs for her, but a paycheck is a paycheck - and at least it's not as dangerous as wrestling, even if it doesn't pay as well.

Personality: To not mince words, Mizuki is an emotional wreck. The hardships of her life weigh on her, and she's usually either terrified, crestfallen, or both. She has little confidence in herself and her abilities, and she bursts into tears at the slightest provocation. She's not a very outgoing person, afraid of being judged or making enemies, and she doesn't speak up for herself; if given the chance, she would prefer to blend into the background and let people forget she exists. She has a low self-esteem, knowing full well she's only in LAW for an easy pay, and she makes no pretenses to being any good. All these things taken together mean that she typically lets other people walk all over her. She doesn't want to cause trouble, and she tries to tell herself the paycheck will make it all worth it. That does not, however, mean that she'll enjoy what she has to face to get there.

Trivia:
  • Mizuki's real last name is Yoshina, but she uses the pseudonym Mizuki Sakura when she wrestles. This is partly to help keep her identity safe, and partly because the LAW agents didn't want people to think she was in some way associated with the Yoshida wrestling family (as well as figuring that the Yoshidas would not take kindly to being compared to someone of her caliber, or lack thereof.)
  • Her "ring gear" consists of her old school swimsuit and a pair of hiking boots, because she can't afford to buy actual gear.
  • Mizuki is nearsighted, but wears contacts when wrestling.
  • Her most prized possession is a plush dog that her grandmother gave her when she was young, which she still has to this day. She would talk to it when she felt lonely, and she still does from time to time.
  • Mizuki has a crush on a boy in her class, but hasn't worked up the courage to talk to him. Her biggest fear is him finding out about her career as a jobber and her having to explain it.

Fighting Style: It should probably come as no surprise that Mizuki's wrestling skills are, in a word, pathetic. She has no training in any martial arts whatsoever, and she accepts that she's only here to be thrown around to make her opponents look good, so she doesn't put much effort into her matches. Though it's been pointed out to her that she could do better if she actually trained, she's saving her money for her classes and paying to be taught properly isn't a priority for her, and she's too afraid of being a burden to ask anyone to teach her. If she does find herself needing to fight back, her arsenal consists mainly of simple, uncoordinated attacks that don't require much thought, mainly punching, kicking, slapping, and hair-pulling, and maybe a headscissor if she's lucky. That doesn't mean she's any good at any of those things; she's an abysmal wrestler and a mediocre catfighter, and her defeatist, crybaby nature tends to hold her back from doing well if she ever needs to throw down.

Favored Match Types: Mizuki can't afford to be choosy with her matches. She's willing to put up with any indignities as long as she gets paid for it, but that doesn't mean she'll enjoy it. It's the only out she has, and she's desperate. In addition to matches, Mizuki is also open to working odd jobs around the company if she needs to make extra cash, such as as a ring girl or a janitor. As long as it doesn't require much skill, she's available.

Signature Moves:
Wounded Gazelle Gambit
The closest thing to a signature move Mizuki has; it involves her breaking down crying in the middle of the ring in the hopes that her opponents will take pity on her. Sometimes she exaggerates it, but often her tears are genuine.

Friends:
  • Nikki Lane is one of Mizuki's few friends in LAW. Ever since they were booked together in a match, Nikki took pity on Mizuki and vowed to help train her so that she would better be able to put up a good fight. Mizuki is thankful for her aid, and she helped convince her that maybe not everyone is out to get her.
