It felt like everyday, but for Miss Polendina, this wasn't a common one like each day of every week, it was a special one. This is a special occasion to get into the ring and wrestle... to qualify for the Apex thing. The Maiden felt a little much nervous, and her focus is to enter there, she didn't cared about how match is going to end. Penny walks around backstage, going towards the scenario before making her entrance, sighing and thinking with optimism.
"Come on Penny, the result isn't what matters, only going to Apex."Penny said to herself, smiling with some confidence. Spoiler
Once the lights of the whole arena turn green, Penny's theme song starts playing through the whole place, as she shows up after the curtains, standing there doing her cheerful taunt to the crowds in military style, showing that happy smile which shines her soul. She decided to use her white and green attire instead of the 'default' one to vary on her outfit for this match. Spoiler
Later, she puts her right arm down and starts walking over the ramp while giving high fives to some of the fans present there until reaching the bottom of the ramp, then Penny walks over the metal steps to stand over the apron and gets inside the ring over the second rope. As the crowds cheered for her, Penny stands in the middle for few seconds to look at everyone. Few seconds later, she goes to the corner of the left side of the ramp and does her cheerful/military salute and taunt to them.
After the music cuts and the lights go back to normal, Penny goes down of that corner and goes towards another one to stay there and do some stretch while waiting for her opponent.
Kotone for a start was specially eager for this one. Not because of a particularly special reason, it was just that she knew of Penny from their time in the Rodouko Gym, and even talked to her before the match just the day before. She knew that she was a special fighter and personally, Koto really was looking forward to show-off in Apex too with an opponent worthy of it. So when the music started, she knew that it was her turn:
"Show time..." Entrance Music
The mist-dispenser made it's work to set up the scenery. But once her new theme song started, she made an act of appearance both in the stage and the Titantron, following the lyrics alongside and driving the whole crowd crazy, turning the whole terrace of the public into a show of glowing sticks. "WILL THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW YOUR NAME?"
"WHEN WE DANCE WITH DESTINY"
"I'VE BEEN THERE"
"AND I'VE SEEN IT"
"I'M NEVER GONNA STOP BELIEVING"
"YOU'LL FIND YOUR FLAME YEAH!!!"
Even if at that moment her concentration was such that she couldn't miss the beat of the song and her dance even if she tried to. She never stopped to play for the crowd, this was her place, this was what she was here for. And she showed it perfectly in her expression, she was born for it! Once the song came to an end, she was already inside the ring, facing Penny. It was perfectly staged for it to end as such and she would show it to her frienemy with a cocky smile.
Penny looked with attention at Koto's entrance while walking from side to side in the ring, patiently waiting for it to be finished. The Maiden stopped and stays in her corner while just listening to her entrance song until it ends, and Penny faces her as well, with a serious expression while looking at that cocky smile.
"That was a good entrance, i must admit that i liked it... But don't overestimate yourself."Penny replied to Koto while clashing foreheads with her in the center of the ring before the match starts.
"DING DING!"
After the bell rang, Penny walks back as returning to her corner. Later, she starts walking around her opponent and gets into a stance, raising both arms to lock fingers with her and attempting a test of strength.
Koto liked that her opponents would be playful from time to time. It made her appearances more spectacular and amusing for the audience. That being said, the way Penny appeared to change into a more serious opponent in this match would make it more interesting for her in particular. She liked serious fights like that. "Duly noted. I won't"
The bell gave them permission to go at it. Penny was the first to take initiative and bring her arms up for a test of strengths. "Heheh, old school it is then" Kotone would say with excitement, grabbing Ms. Polendina's hands and starting them off with a push.
As it was common, Koto wasn't the strongest one out there, she knew so and for that Penny would be the one to get the upper hand sooner than later. This however would be a part of a plan on Koto's part. She'd be pushed to the ropes or corner, from which she'd start to raise her leg and in a show of agility and flexibility, she'd hit Penny's jaw with a kick, which would then be followed by a knee strike to the red-head's stomach, and then a low kick to the legs, a pattern of three strikes that she would repeat because it would be what she'd be permitted to do with the little space she's given.
Penny's fist mistake was to chain herself to a striker like Koto, that was about to play ping-pong with the poor girl, using her legs to punish brutally from the start. "Looks like the one who overestimated herself was another one"
Penny was using the strength advantage gained in that struggle against Koto by taking her against the ropes. She was keeping her but she didn't realized about what could happen until she sees her opponent taking the Maiden's hands off, moment in which she gasps silently and gets hit in the jaw with that kick, as the Maiden stops struggling and holds that spot. When she opened the eyes and was going to look up at her, she gets hit in the stomach with a knee delivered by the Idol, gasping and spitting some saliva as holding her stomach in pain with the gritted teeth, but she wasn't hurt enough to avoid the low kick at the legs and shoves her to the ropes.
"Nice opening, but it's my turn now."Penny said to Koto and she goes at the same ropes to rebound off after Koto, then she grabs quickly her neck and slams her head against the canvas with a bulldog.
Using her legs to strike the Maiden with non-stop brutality, Kotone would not stop at all, she was in this event to win it, and for that reason things like holding back or having pity for the opponent was out of the question. There was only two reasons for her to take it easy with Penny: If she gave up, or if the referee gave her the victory. There was no in between, at least not this time.
This brutal strategy however, proved to be more detrimental than anything else. As the Idol came to be trapped with Penny as she was grabbed and then immediately slammed against the ground. "Fuck!" She screamed, trying to recover as fast as possible, but the shaking ground and the sharp beeping in her ears making that basically impossible.
