Ryuko vs. Mary: Apex Qualifier

Ryuko had been losing some steam thanks to some tough losses to Thereisa Neidermeyer. She had to recover some of that and roll into Apex with momentum. She wanted to win out in Apex and be crowned the inaugural Openweight Champion. She was going to steamroll whoever was in her way. She knew nothing of Mary, and tonight she was going to show her exactly why getting in the way of the thunder empress was a horrible idea.

Her music played before long and Ryuko emerged in the arena, waving to the crowd and walking confidently down the ramp. She was all business as she climbed up onto the apron and through the ropes, striking a couple poses in the middle of the ring with a grin on her face before settling into her corner. She wanted to go hard and fast tonight, a fast burn where she absolutely steamrolled anyone. On this night it just happened to be a foreigner named Mary who was going to face her wrath.

Boy, Mary was beyond nervous tonight as she felt herself shaking a little as she flattened her tights in the middle. The chemistry teacher started her career off normally against far less scary wrestlers named Chelsea Loski and Countess Dante, but this third match was about to make her sweat bullets. She had gotten an email detailing her next match against Thunder Ryuko, a legit professional in the sport and former Wrestle Angels star. Mary did some research into Ryuko and brought up her time in Wrestle Angels seeing her as one of the greatest rivals to company face, Mighty Yukiko. Mary stared at the screen in her living room and her glasses fell off her face.

She also happened to watch some matches posted on the official Wrestle Angels YouTube page and Ryuko was a hard-hitter. Mary didn’t like her chances in the match taking her lack of experience and age into account. She was practically a sitting duck in this empress’s pond. Mary thought of actually calling in sick and forfeiting the match, but her husband set her straight. He reminded her that she faced tougher customers back home and this would be just another challenge. Mary reluctantly thanked him for his words and booked her next flight for Tokyo.



Mary came out raising her left fist to the crowd as she got a huge pop seeing more fans of hers each and every day. She waved to them tightly adjusting her lab coat as she stared ahead at Ryuko. Mary gulped heading down the ramp and took cautious steps knowing she was about to share a ring with a real professional wrestler right now. It was going to be a waterfall compared to the sprinklers that were the American indies. Mary went up the steel steps and headed inside rolling her shoulders in order to bow respectfully to Ryuko to hopefully be in good graces before the bell.

Ryuko watched Mary come out and she looked.... timid? Ryuko stood with her hands on her hips watching her opponent and sizing her up the entire walk towards the ring. Ryuko stayed still and watched Mary bow. "Hmph. You are a foreign wrestler in a Japanese ring. Japanese women are the best wrestlers on the planet you will have your work cut out for you." Ryuko said standing tall.

As the bell rang Ryuko would move in and swing her leg up trying to start things off with a big toe kick to the abdomen to double Mary over before hoping to grab hold of her hair and fall, opening with a face buster to set the tone for this match!

Mary simply nodded towards Ryuko giving her thesis statement as she took off her lab coat and threw it outside. The referee kept both women separate and then raised her left hand to signal for the bell as Mary circles her opponent. Ryuko came in quick with a kick to the stomach as Mary bent over to clutch her abdomen groaning. Ryuko tried following up with a Facebuster grabbing Mary’s white hair, but Mary tried reversing with a Drop Toe Hold. Mary then got on top of Ryuko grabbing the left arm trying to lock in an armbar if possible.

Ryuko was not expecting the gaijin wrestler to counter so quickly and she found herself grunting as she landed on her back! Ryuko's arm was pulled and she let out a howl of pain as she kicked the mat but she knew how to get out of this. Ryuko leaned into the hold trying to roll Mary onto her shoulders to put her in a pinning position! If she was able to with her free arm she would lean over and punch at Mary as well while the official moved to count a pin with Mary on her shoulders.

Mary grinned able to get one over on the more skilled wrestler, but the veteran instinct kicked in for Ryuko as she simply rolled Mary over with her legs up high for a pin! Not to mention, Mary got a few punches to her face making her let go of the arm as Ryuko repositioned it between Mary’s legs to hold her legs for the pin! The official came in to do her job.

“1….2….Mary’s out of it!” The referee called as Mary kicked out way after 2 and got back to her feet quickly to regroup.

Ryuko was less than happy with how things started off and she tried to work her way up to her feet as quickly as possible. She scowled and tired to lunge back in hoping that she could tie Mary up in a grapple! Ryuko wanted to get hold of Mary so she could land body punches and knee shots hoping to start softening up the foreign wrestler inside Ryuko's ring!

Mary got back to her feet able to keep up with Ryuko, but she gasped as the former Wrestle Angels star grappled with Mary as the chemistry teacher felt a little ill-prepared. However, punches and knee shots would be planted in her body as Mary oofed and wheezed sending her into a corner as she laid back to recover.

Ryuko saw Mary stumble back and she smiled. "You aren't done yet..." Ryuko said as she surged forward looking to rush right at Mary and smash her against the corner with a big running clothesline! Ryuko was giving her no quarter and trying to be the dominant wrestler she knew herself to be.

Mary groaned as she leaned back in the corner and rested her arms on the ropes. She didn’t even register Ryuko coming in hot and heavy with her arm outstretched. Mary got blown into the corner more as the clothesline connected! Mary gasped and wheezed sitting down in the corner trying to hold her chest and recover, but the stronger veteran wouldn’t give her that time if she didn’t act quickly. Mary tried escaping under the bottom rope in order to get some breathing room outside.
