Lyra Vs. JJ: Something To Prove (Apex Qualifier)

JJ had recently been a bit embarrassed in the ring after a few of her last outings. Instead of surging she had something to prove leading up to Apex. Tonight was make or break for her as far as she was concerned.

JJ made her way out into the arena jumping and bounding her way down the ramp, pointing to the fans while pumping a fist in the air. She jumped up onto the apron them grabbed the top rope vaulting over into the ring. JJ swayed her hips and strut around holding her arms out as the crowd cheered for her.

JJ eventually settled in to her corner and waited for this Lyra woman to come down.

She shouldn’t be doing this match. She should just rest after what Helena did to her. However, Lyra felt the urge from the universe. She needed to keep onward towards Apex and her injured ankle wouldn’t stop her from achieving the future she sought. It had been exactly one week since Helena threw Lyra outside and Lyra wasn’t too badly hurt, but her left leg got messed up in the impact leaving quite the bruise. The wrestling medical staff checked her and she seemed to walk with a limp which would be fine provided she didn’t do anything like Dropkicks or top rope moves. Lyra is scheduled for an Apex Qualifier and this brought her closer to the heavenly gates of Apex.

Lyra walked slowly as her left ankle is covered in white bandages to smooth the swelling and her wincing didn’t help calm her nerves. She would be completely vulnerable and wouldn’t be surprised if this match ended up one-sided. Lyra debated on whether or not just forfeiting this match, but this wouldn’t please the universe and most of all, her mentor. Jonathan told her it would be her choice even if he himself told her to just cut her losses and get better. Lyra decided she couldn’t quit while she was far ahead like this and even if she ended up losing, Lyra wanted to go down giving her heart and soul into this match.

She came out to mega cheers as more fans piled on top of her every day and green pyro went off as she limped down the ramp. Lyra tossed out her beads and made it ringside leaning against the apron before rolling in and accepting a hand from the referee. Lyra limped quickly to her corner and leaned on the corner pad and looked across at JJ.

When JJ first saw Lyra her initial thoughts were "who the hell is this? She looks like a scrawny hippie who fell out the back of some Scooby Doo van." JJ shook her head and kept an intense glare on Lyra. She didn't dislike Lyra, but Lyra was in her way. JJ was going to make up for a couple of her more recent, embarrassing outings in the ring. She was a top wrestler, she knew it, Sienna knew it now the world would know once she won this and then crushed some fool in an Apex match!

As the bell rang JJ circled and kept an eye on Lyra before moving in to grapple with her as the ebony grappler looked to power Lyra into a corner!

Lyra limped into the middle of the ring as she cracked her knuckles and got into a ready stance. She locked up with JJ, but the cocky wrestler had more in her tank and maneuvered Lyra back into the corner she just came out from. Lyra had to prevent herself from getting into a bad place temporarily so she went for a knee strike with her better leg. If that worked, she would grab JJ by the hair and slam her on her back.

"Oomph!" JJ groaned as she doubled over before Lyra yanked her by the hair and slammed her backward to the mat! JJ rolled away and pushed herself back up to her feet. "Is that how you want to fight huh?" JJ said as she tried to lunge back at Lyra with a clothesline in retaliation.

Lyra thought she had a little advantage, but JJ rolled away from her before she could reach down to get her. To make matters worse, Lyra would get clotheslined across the throat and brought down on her back as the fortune teller grimaced. She tried to roll outside to get away from JJ, but it was hard with her left leg slowing her down.

JJ saw Lyra trying to roll for the ropes and she smiled, giving chase and reaching out for her injured leg she seemed to be going easy on. "Oh hell no girl, you ain't running away from my beatdown!" JJ said as she yanked Lyra back in and held the leg up with Lyra on her back, sending hard kicks into the leg to hammer away at a potential weak spot.

Lyra had just reached the bottom rope, but JJ was quick on her tail and pulled her around gripping the injured leg. Lyra winced a little, but did utter sharp cries of pain as JJ sent hard kicks to her hurt leg. Lyra tried pulling out, but the pain became a little too much to even move and the referee stepped to push JJ off so the cocky wrestler didn’t get any ideas to keep up the assault. The referee checked with Lyra and Lyra nodded her head to continue as she rolled over to the ropes again slowly rising.

JJ backed off again and this time let Lyra rise. "If she is so hurt get her ass in the back so I can wrestle someone who doesn't need referee protection or just let her give it up so I don't have to mess her up!" JJ shouted to the referee as she let Lyra get back up. JJ cirlced a bit and lunged in trying to grapple with Lyra once she was on her feet.

Lyra breathed heavily as she got back in the match as she circled with JJ before going in herself to lock up with her opponent. Lyra would try to get JJ on the mat with an armbar wrenching hard on the left arm of the cocky wrestler. If successful throughout that process, she would try to lock the arm between her legs and put her hands around JJ’s face going for a Crossface submission.
