- Extremely adept at cooking. Partially out of necessity but she grew to love it and has been trying to make Japanese and Southern cuisine fusion in her spare time.
- June is a flirty and fun loving person so she’ll flirt with pretty much anyone of any gender but she realized long ago that she only has eyes for women.
- As far as her type June is a sucker for the strong, silent type. Especially if they have an air of elegance and regality to them since it makes June think of classic romance stories. June was initially born into one of the wealthiest families in North Carolina boasting a vast family fortune and multiple generations that went on to do great things or be connected to people of power. Senators, artists, authors, progessors, war heroes. These were some of the words used to describe the professions of both male and female McKinleys over the years.
Despite the abject luxury and wealth that surronded her however June’s childhood was anything but confortable or joyous. Despite all they had June’s family, especially her parents were obsessed over this generational success and in maintaining it with their daughter.
As such from a young age June lived an extremely structured, rigorous life where virtually every hour of every day was loaded with classes, tutoring, activities and other such means to try and create a perfect young woman.
Etiquette, horse back riding, gymnastics, advanced scholarly lessons the works. All in an attempt by June’s parents to insure that she either became a success or was equipped enough to be suitable to marry someone who was.
Worse of all about it however was that despite how hard her parents pushed her June’s parents never showed much appreciation, warmth or love. Instead praise was earned with success, shows of love or affection were reserved for public events, everything about how they interacted with June was either transactional or performative. And June hated it. Every last second.
By the age of ten she was miserable, yet couldn’t show it, knowing that any display of negativity or ‘ungratefulness’ would be met with punishment.
One day however during an elite gathering o the wealthy elite in the south June, surrounded by boys trying to impress her with this or that would be drawn to something.
Not to the boys mind you, but rather… something they were watching. Two of them were watching something on their phone, something June wasn’t allowed to have yet and it was… intriguing. Two men beating the hell out of eachother. When she asked to watch it with them the boys were confused but happily agreed and explained it was pro wrestling. Pro wrestling from Japan specifically. It was… fun.
Perhaps the first thing that looked fun to June ever. Not only that but eventually as the matches progressed two women stepped out and proceeded to have a hell of a match together, performing moves and soots that looked even more brutal than what the men did to each other. Immediately June knew… this is what she wanted to do it had to be. It was as close to a calling as she’d ever felt and she needed to be apart of this.
Unfortunately however June’s parents didn’t seem to agree. Calling such an activity as boorish and low brow and absolutely not what a lady of her standing should be invoved with in any way and they’d be damned if it did happen. It was unfortunate but expected…. And as such June wouldn’t let it stop her. No she had a dream and all she needed was a way. A way to get there and no matter what she’d make it.
So over the next two years she began planning and training as discreetly as she could. Obviously she couldn’t learn pro wrestling yet but she could feign interest in things that were productive to it that suited her parents deisgns.
Gymnastics, karate, soccer. Sports of this nature that were recognzied and respected were things her parents were fine with learning and would allow her to begin developing her body in the right way.
Likewise she began saving. Every allowance, every expensive gift she didnt care about that she could later pawn for money, and save away. Finally when asked about learning a third language (since she had already learned Spanish as part of her early education) she chose Japanese claiming it’d be good to know something so exotic that could broaden her horizons later on which her parents agreed with.
Then finally at the age of twelve her opportunity came. A big family reunion that would be held in Mexico at a resort where a floor had been rented out by them. Using the chaos and havoc caused by all of them arriving st the same time and hecticly moving around the air port June used the chsnce to slip away. Dashing through the various terminals she eventually found what she needed, a plane heading to okinawa. Perfect. Using cash she was able to secure a ticket along with the workers silence and cooperation beofre boarding and making off for Japan.
As soon as she landed June was off. Boarding a ferry to the main island of Japan and then from there a bulet train to Osaka. It was a long and arduous journey and she’d already blown through half of her savings but June was determined and wventually she made it to her destination. Pro Wrestling Spirit.
Based on the research she managed to do this was one of the best joshi companies in Japan, one of the few capable of doing international tours that also accepted and trained new talent. Initially however it didnt go so well. Some of the roster that first met her were skeptical and even dismissive of her presence and told her to get lost. But she was determined, so much so she even spent the night sleeping on a bench outside the gym.
It was in this state that she first met the owner of the gym, Rin, when she came to open up. Finally being given a chance June in near full on tears explained her situation and story, and practically begged to be let in as a trainee. While skeptical herself Rin seemed inpressed with her resolve and gave June a chance. Allowing her to begin classes much to the chagrin of other wrestlers.
However June impressed soon upon arrival. Physically speaking she was wuite capable off the bat and she took to the lessons very well. Better some of the local girls, one of which was Rin’s daughter. As a result it wasn’t long before June got her license and was admitted as a rookie.
Lodging wise the owner allowed June to sleep in a room above the gym, it wasn’t much but it was hers. During her off tkme she attended online classes to earn a high school equivalency as well as taking advantage of the extra flexibility to get jn as much training as she could before making her debut and, much to many shocked faces winning.
Granted it was against a fellow rookie but it was something and it wouldn’t be uncommon. Going forward June won more matches than she lost, having about a seventy five percent win rate. Additionally despite being a gaijin she quickly got popular with fans. Both for her developjng looks as well as her bright, chipper disposition that could finally blossom now that she was dokng what she loved more than anything. As a result this earned her the nickname the Sun Princess.
A epithet that June treasured. As for her wrestling she developed a rather unconventional mix of classic strong style and American style pro wrestling. However Rin had crossed a line by forcing her daughter Ai to turn on her partner followjng a tag title match in one of the lsot disgusting showings June had ever seen. Following this during the annual Spirit Cup Round Robin tournament June had competed and was in tbe same block as Rin, managing to defeat the woman, albeit barely.
However due to two draws and an otherwise unblemished streak for Rin she would manage to win the tournament and in doing so… earn a shot at her Spirit World Title. Needless to say the build up to the match was intense, with June gettjng jumped more than once by Rin’s stable, dressed down, embarassed, but she enver gave up.
The night before their bout June managed to get the drop on Rin and her goons, beating all but Rin but especially making sure to drop Ai on her head before cutting a scathing promo on Rin. Calling her out for her deplorable actions, her reliance on her stable, and the horrible way she had treated her students and even her own daughter.
Then to cap it off June made the challenge. Not just a title match, but a cage match for the title, so that way no one from POISON could interfere. Embarrassed and angry Rin accepted and the two had their battle. An intense, furious affair that June had been on the verge of winning… at least had Rin not brought out both of June’s parents, older, disappointed, and furious, screaming at June from ringside and allowing Rin to steal the victory and her title….
Afterwards June had basically been forced back to America by her parents who tried to keep her there but June wouldn’t have it. After all she was eighteen, she didnt have to live with them though they tried to threaten using lawyers and courts to gain conservatorship over her. June fought back and eventually things went to court.
Thankfully however June had a decent lawyer that poked hole after hole into her parents case while her own record of public upstanding in Japan held strong and didnt show someone tbat was unstable or unable to care for themselves. Still the battle dragged for months and months. Eventually endjng with the jusge ruling in June’s favornand finally granting her freedom.
Immediately she flew back to Japan, intent to get revenge on Rin… Only to see someone else had beaten her too it. Beating the hell out of Rin in a time limit draw and all but wrecking her stable. Not to mention SPW was in shambles viewership and attendance wise. Or at least thats what a contact that was still in the company had told her.
Rin and her stable mates would suffer a slow, painful death in the promotion they had ironically poisoned with their presence… and June knew her comjng back would only play to their favor so she didn’t. Besides… another company had been showjng interest for a while. Also based in Japan but June always rejected any offers sent her way out of loyalty to Rin and SPW but now…. Now she was free. And LAW would see what the Sun Princess could do!
