Wrestling Information

Strategy: The way Anya approaches her matches depends on her opponent, or rather, her opponent’s sex: she deals with men and women differently.

With women, she fights fairly, using her size and relative speed to great effect. She’s not the fastest, but she’s quick and agile for a heavyweight and not afraid to use moves that are typically the domain of lighter luchadores. She has a penchant for hurricanrana variants in particular.

With men, she’s much more aggressive and fights in a brutal, effective manner, focusing on hard-hitting strikes and strong grapples. She exploits every opportunity given, and while she doesn’t go in with the intention of cheating, she will if she’s pressed enough.
Style: Lucha Libre
Type: High-Flying Heavyweight

Preferred Attacks: Moonsaults, Splashes, Punches, Smothers
Preferred Matches: Hardcore, No DQ,
Attitude towards Hentai:”With the right person...maybe.”
Signature Match:
Cage of Death: Her father’s most famous match. The match takes place in a caged ring. Unlike most cages, the top is closed off and there’s no way to get out - the only way to win is by either making the opponent verbally beg to leave or knocking them out. Also, the cage is randomly electrified.

Personal Information
Personality
Anya is a complicated woman, and while she wouldn’t go as far as to say she has a split personality, it’s certainly true that you can get a wildly different person depending on when and how you engage her.

There’s Anya Santiago, the woman without the mask, who’s a fairly meek, quiet person, especially for her size. She can be a bit shy and understated at times, not used to engaging with people directly, and she often feels aloof and awkward in crowds. It takes a lot for her to know people, but those who stick around long enough to know her will find a warm, soft heart with an unabiding passion for pro wrestling.

In the ring against other women, she’s far more energetic, fully leaning into the anonymity that her mask and wig bring. She loves to wrestle and engage with opponents, often quipping and keeping things light and playful. She won’t be pushed around and can get rough with those who test her, but she much prefers to keep things from getting personal if she can.

Against men, however, things take a darker turn. She’s often accused of hating men because she fights them so aggressively, and there may be some small truth to that, given the relationship she has with her father. But it stems from the deal she made with him - every match she has against a man is essentially a one-sided Loser Leaves Town match, and she fights accordingly. Losing is simply not an option for her, and she will do anything to keep her male-only win streak going.
History
Anya and her twin Raul Santiago were born to Deigo Santiago, better known as the Tarantula, a famous Mexican luchador. Though Anya and her father had a decent relationship growing up, he was always rather old-fashioned when it came to his beliefs in the roles of men and women, often frowning on her more adventurous pursuits as she grew into something of a tomboy. While it was never a serious problem, her father made it quite clear that he wanted his son to follow in his footsteps as a wrestler and not her, as he had a dim view of women’s wrestling. Anya didn’t like having avenues closed to her, but while she was athletic, she was more into football than wrestling then and didn’t press the issue.

That all changed when Raul had an unfortunate accident during one of his training sessions shortly after their 17th birthday. A botch moonsault left him with a broken neck, and while he would eventually come out of it okay, it abruptly ended his professional career. Anya spent the better part of a year as his primary caregiver while he recovered, and as she did, she developed a greater understanding of how important it had been for him to carry on their father’s legacy and how disappointed he was, thinking he had failed the family.

Through time and care, Anya eventually got Raul to a point where he had come to terms with things, but the more they talked, the more he grew convinced that she should pick up the torch, and he eventually brought her around to this line of thinking, as well. Their father was a much tougher sell on the idea, however, and after weeks of pushing and arguing, he finally caved and agreed under a single condition: Anya would only be allowed to bear the Tarantula name so long as she never lost a match against a man. It was a tall task, and he might not have even been serious when he made it, but she called his bluff and accepted.

That single choice defined her entire wrestling career thus far. She went into intense training, bulked up, and joined the independent scene, quickly becoming a staple in women and mixed wrestling. When word of her challenge got out, men started showing up to challenge her regularly, and she put them all down - most often fair and square, but sometimes with a little cheating and dirty fighting. She gained a good reputation as a strong, forceful wrestler, one who would do anything she needed to get the job done when she was backed up against a wall. It was this reputation that put her on LAW’s radar.

=Fun Facts=

+The original Tarantula never had a symbol like that on his chest - it actually comes from Venom, whom she is a fan of, along with comics in general.
+Is very proud of her abs. Had her suited tailored specifically to show them off.
+Has been told she has ‘resting bitch face’ and has grown self-conscious about it, to the point where her smile sometimes comes off as unnatural.
+Wears a wig with the mask to help keep her anonymous.
