Tessai has a strange sort of magnetism to herself, lively, loud and even boastful at times, she would naturally draw attention to herself but it seems to go deeper than that. She not only draws attention from the crowds but tends to get along with almost anyone, being noted to make people naturally relax around her, letting their gourd down which always made her able to make fast friends wherever she went.
Beyond that pleasant surface though is an immensely driven and competitive woman, proud of her every achievement. She wholeheartedly believes that if you treat doing something seriously, you should strive to be the best. Though as stated before, she tends to get along with anyone, only people she could relate with on that level really grow to be close to her. She values such drive regardless of discipline but has a particular liking for people who she can measure herself up against, on some level treating most of her friends as rivals as well

Being very aware of her strengths, Tessai tries to keep fights in the realm of striking for the most part, particularly at a longer range where her devastating kicks can make short work of her opponents. She is however not a stranger to other forms of combat with her knowledge of judo enabling her to both toss her opponents around as well as lock in quick submissions both particularly helped by her blend of pure physical power and speed. Though she knows there are gaps in her grappling that she actively trains to eliminate, she is most adept at escaping submissions and favours holds that can end combat quickly and decisively like choke holds.

Born the eldest daughter to a small family living at the foot of Oyama mountain, Tessai always felt both immense pride in her lineage and a sense of responsibility to uphold the legacy of her predecessors. Her father was continuing the art of traditional sword making past through his bloodline while her mother was a decorated athlete, most recognised for her gymnastics worldwide while on the national level ranking amongst the best archers and kendokas.
The mixture of those two facades of her family instilled the need to be the best in Tessai which was kept in check by both her parents, curbing the desire to be as good as possible all at once and instead teaching her to value progress she was making, even if slow which led her to develop a healthy relationship with work that many others would struggle with. That mentality she then passed on to her siblings who she was somewhat relieved decided to pick more narrow fields than she did.
Her strive for excellence did not limit itself to just her parent’s fields, in fact, while she did double in gymnastics, she did not end up devoting as much time to it, instead after initially falling in love with both kendo and archery, she branched towards partial arts which did initially worry her dad who did not want his child to get hurt but he quickly folded, especially when seeing his wife’s support for those endeavours. This trend continued to her school life as well, somehow managing to be a straight-A student, frequently being a president of the student council and representing her schools at sports events, practically making different high schools fight over her.
While there, she met who turned out to be her best friend, an underclass girl who freshly moved to Japan and did not seem to feel particularly comfortable at school, at least in part because of some prolific bullies who picked her and her sister as targets. Always being one to lead by example, she made it a point of honor to look out for the two, getting particularly close with Kate after the girl accepted an invite to the martial arts club where they clicked together perfectly. There was always however some underlying tension between the two that went beyond just the friendly rivalry they developed, which came to a head when Tessai decided to make a move during one of their frequent sparrings. What followed that, were a few months of the two dating and while Tessai remembers that fondly, they both came to realize it was not really working but if anything it made them work better as friends afterwards, though it kept some people questioning their status given how intimate the could be with each other.
The high school though did not last forever and though the two of them stayed close, while Kate pursued a career in martial arts, landing eventually with LAW, Tessai was preparing for a big event of her own. While her competition in various events on the local and national level already brought her a plethora of achievements across the athletic spectrum, she was chosen to represent her country in two of the disciplines she was most accomplished in at the Olympics. Those being Taekwondo and archery.
The archery was the most stressful when the push came to shove, only managing to edge out the person behind her by a few points and even then, only doing so due to the very last shot they both took, swapping their positions around. Taekwondo however was a completely different matter, she managed to get through most of her fights with a comfortable lead, fully expecting her final opponent, representing Korea to be a real test of her skill. Instead who she got was thoroughly disappointing, barely scoring any points and getting completely dominated by Tessai who did not hide her disappointment in the match, especially given Korea being the birth place of the sport, she expected better, the match itself, along with her expressing that thought garnered her quite a lot of ire from both the Korean audience and the competitors leading to a challenge being issued by the representative for the male category to her. It was not official and took place outside of the competition itself after the Olympics themself concluded. While the fight was certainly more challenging and not taking place under the point system, it led to Tessai’s victory all the same and though there is no proof of said fight ever happening, the news spread.
Returning to Japan, she was predictably celebrated along the rest of the competitors though the controversy regarding her last fight at the olympics and the rumors of what happened after would not leave her alone and she was eventually provoked into issuing an open challenge to anyone who thought they could match her in taekwondo and though even in such a short time many have answered it, especially Koreans, none have managed to overcome her yet.
From that point, she started to settle into the life back at home, looking where to make her next move and settling on LAW after some convincing from her best friend.

Kate - They originally met in high school shortly after Kate and her family moved to Japan. With both of them as committed as they were to martial arts they were fast friends. They used to date for a few months during that time but both realizing romance was not what drew them together decided to go back to being friends, though things between them slipped in a more intimate direction at times.
Hoshiko - Their relationship mostly came along through Kate but regardless of that, they got along well. Both of their lively personalities meshing well with each other in what Kate herself would call an insufferable mix.
Huan - The most recent addition to Tessai’s friend group, she only met Huan a few weeks before joining LAW. She quickly hit it off with the woman, having a very similar sense of humour and finding common ground in endlessly teasing Kate.

- While she garnered a lot of hatred from the Koreans she herself does not hold any enmity towards them. Some things were simply taken out of context and her later statements trying to clarify the situation were mostly disregarded.
