Spoiler
Yu is a young woman who seems to enjoy the attention that being a wrestler gives her and she doesn't feel any shame from having to take that fame from another wrestler while basking in the glory. She is also shown to be quite vain. Still though she wants a fair clean match and can’t stand those who disrespect the ring.
Backstory
Spoiler
What is there to say about Yu Takeyama that hasn't already been said. She's a crowd-pleaser; all she cares about is the money, fame, and winning. Well, you would not be wrong in saying that. Yu, ever since she started wrestling, was always fixated on winning. If you don't succeed, then you didn't do anything is her mentality. While she would not admit or confirm it. You came from the bottom. If there is a low class, then Yu was even below that. So when the chance came in for her to receive checks for amounts of money, she thought it impossible. You took that opportunity and ran with it. At first, Yu had a hard time in matches. She was usually getting billed as a giant only to lose matches. Like a David and Goliath situation, but Goliath never had a chance. It still paid well, but Yu wanted to win. Show that she can do more because she knows it.
In a effort to force herself to become better, Yu started to partake in illegal matches. Matches "special" ropes, different types of weapons, and with audiences with questionable morals. Yu was getting beaten into a bloody pulp in her matches. But with every loss, Yu felt that she was getting faster, stronger, and more brutal. She was thinking and approaching matches differently. The one thing she needed was a win. If Yu gets one win, then she felt that she would enter a different world. A world of winners, where people drink out of golden cups with champion belts over their shoulders. Yu's next underground match would be one that almost killed her literally—taking steel chairs, steps, and ladders to the head, along with a party's worth of tables being broken on Yu's back. But somehow and someway Yu was able to get through it and win the match. That win, though, that single win sparked something in Yu. You would practically run the independent scene in her region; with her being unbeatable, she was gaining more and more fans, more and more notoriety. Now in the big leagues, Yu was going to make damn sure she made her mark on the wrestling world.
