Writer's Notes
General Notes and Priorities
  1. In terms of priorities I'll be focusing on PPV/Supercard threads, followed by match threads that are moving quickly, then story threads, and then everything else.
  2. I prefer to do threads with a winner already planned out and work the matches around that.
  3. My only hard-no in terms of content aside from certain fetishes are outright squash matches, both as attacker and victim. Some exceptions can be made, but rarely.
Cancellations
For a brief summary, any thread that I'm waiting longer than a month for replies unannounced will be canceled. But for a detailed version...
  • After a month of no reply on a thread I'm waiting on and the user hasn't announced a hiatus of some kind I will send out a Discord DM or forum PM asking if they want to cancel the thread. I'll give a one week grace period before canceling it outright if I get no reply either in the private message or the thread.
  • If the user hasn't been visibly active on the site for a month without a hiatus announcement I'll be immediately canceling the thread as that user has likely left the forum unannounced left evidence is given otherwise.
  • Canceled threads can be revived if asked, but depending on how long the wait is and the characters involved I might refuse or suggest a new thread all together. This is mostly toward story characters who tend to make character development/story progression in most of their interaction

Saori and Mari (Lightweights)
  • No notes for now.

Hiatus Annoucement

Unread post by dlamp »

I was going to post this on the discussion section, but I think it'll be a little cleaner to write this on my request thread instead.

I'm going to be taking a break from LAW for a few days, and online activities in general. Nothing be has come up and no emergency has happened as of me typing this, but I'm starting to notice I've been spending a little too much time on the computer this past month and a half, even by my standards. So I'm going to try and finish all my replies by tomorrow morning (May 18th) and this take a break for a few days, just to clear my head and recharge for a bit. But just to leave some quick notes on things:

Quick Notes
  • I'll be on hiatus from May 18th, 7AM (GMT-4) until at least May 20th. May 22nd at the latest.
  • I'll still be on Discord every now and then, but mostly to chat and keep in touch on things.
  • I might post one or two things on my essay thread during the hiatus. Not the Face-Heel essay, but just some quick notes I forgot to add in the profile specifics.
  • For those that know my other areas of activity in the online sphere, I'll likely still be a little active there since I'll be finishing some other stories/essays in other places.
  • And for those that have been checking out my profiles recently, yes, I am currently reworking a lot of them. I'll go more into detail on that when come back from hiatus.
Anyway, that should be everything important I wanted to say. If I don't get to our threads tonight then I'll try doing it tomorrow morning before I go dark.

See you all later!

Patch Notes (5/21/21)

Unread post by dlamp »

Alright, not much of a hiatus since I spent a good portion of it incognito and finished up only a few background things if I'm being honest, but I'm back now. I did a lot behind the scenes and I'll just give a quick update on the things that have changed.

Updated Profiles
After writing that essay on profile specifics I realized that I'm a fucking hypocrite. A lot of things I said in that essay didn't really match up with my own profiles, along with not following some things I plan to write about profiles in the future, so I've been doing some editing and tweaking for all of my girls (and Yukihiro). To that end, here's all the big changes:
  • Everyone's height and weight now shows both imperial and metric units.
  • Everyone now has a clear record of their wins and loses for finished matches.
  • Everyone's profile has an Author's Notes at the bottom where I personally explain what the characters are best used for.
  • Everyone's alignment now follows the proper Face-Heel alignment of most other profiles
  • Akuma no Senshi members now have their stable addressed and linked in their individual profiles, along with the roles they play in it.
Those are the basic changes everyone went through, but here at the more specific ones:

Amano Jaku
  • Amano's alignment is now a direct heel due to her brash and rowdy behavior.
Himeko/Haganehime
  • Himeko's alignment is now a Tweener due to her new motivation of being neutral to wrestling, but having a bad personality and brutal fighting style
  • Himeko bio has changed so that her motivation gives her a softer stance on pro wrestling, making her just a bit less arrogant in her motives and speech
  • Himeko's move set has been changed to better reflect her judo background
  • Himeko's weaknesses have been changed to reflect her stubbornness to grappling/judo
Yukihiro
  • Yukihiro now has a new reference images, as the character Hideyoshi Kinoshita from Baka to Test was being used already more actively by another member.
  • Yukihiro is now a heel due to his sorted past already aggressive personality.
  • Yukihiro's bio has been updated to highlight more of his street gang lifestyle
Kurokage/Teruko
  • Kurokage is now as face due to her more cutesy persona playing to the crowd and her outer, surface personality being traditionally appealing.
  • Kurokage's fighting style has been updated to give her aspects of street boxing along with wrestling.
  • Kurokage's nationality now hints that she's not purely Japanese
Hakune
  • Hakune now has new reference images, as I personally didn't care to using Youmu Konpaku from Touhou
  • Hakune's real name has changed from Selena Rose to Selena Hawthorn, as there are currently a lot of Roses in LAW at the moment.
  • Hakune's stage name has changed from Midori Hakune to Akari Hakune, along with her gimmick being just a samurai in general rather than a school girl samurai
  • Hakune is now a face due to her good natured personality and hero of justice wrestling persona
General Activity
I'll be replying to all my RPs soon or contacting the writers waiting for me if there's something holding me up. I'll also be making an addendum to my Profile Specific essay in the near future over the weekend.

So yeah... I'm back folks.

Strive Hiatus

Unread post by dlamp »

Alright folks, Guilty Gear Strive is coming out in two days as of me typing this, the next big mainline title of the Guilty Gear franchise now with godly rollback netcode. And as a huge fighting game fan and fan of Arc System Works games in general I'm going to be spending a lot of time checking it out. I've played both betas, have been keeping up with development info and surveys, and generally hyping myself up on some previous games and a bit of the soundtrack that is currently available. That said, my activity here will be limited. Not a completely hiatus, but more a semi-hiatus where I'm only posting to threads either when my phone lets me know about them or when I need an honest break from playing Guilty Gear. I'll still be around, but mostly to chat and post essays on my essay thread.

But, just to make some things clear:

Time Frame
  • My semi-hiatus will start on June 8th and likely end around June 18th. This is more than enough time to get a feel for the game and start playing it more casually and sporadically.
  • I will still be active in limited capacity, but I should have time to reply to 3 threads per day.
  • And like my last hiatus I'll be available on discord to chat, and I'll still likely be posting essays depending on the situation.
  • On that note, anyone planning to get Strive as well is more than welcomed to message me about setting up matches. I'm getting it on the PS4, so feel free to send me a message to set up a private room.
  • I'm still willing to plan and start threads, but my activity and attentiveness to reply to them will be limited.
Thread Priorities
  • During the semi-hiatus Amano threads will be prioritized. Amano is more or less the main character of my roster and currently has a lot of story and character development threads happening, so I'll be trying to finish those first.
  • Match threads will be focused on more than social threads. That said, most social threads at the moment are Amano threads, so know those might take a backseat if I have to choose between her matches and her social activities.
  • Older threads will get attention first. If we've had a thread going on for longer than a month I'll be more inclined to reply fast between gaming sessions to finish it.
Okay, I believe that's everything important, so I'm going to get to doing a few things now. I'll see you all later.

Patch Notes (6/19/21)

Unread post by dlamp »

Welp, Strive is a pretty fun game, the story was surprisingly better than I was expecting, and Giovanna is currently my new main... for now. And on the RP front I've finally finished up those edits to Hangaku and the profiles as a whole. Here's the bigger points on everything that's been updated.

Updated Profile
  • All Japanese character have their names written in proper surname-given name fashion.
  • All profiles now have links and short descriptions of all their finished matches
  • All profiles have a section that covers, links, and describes their finished social events
  • All profile pictures now have a link to the original artist/source
Amano Jaku
  • Amano has had her personality section updated to align with her current character better
  • Amano now has an official finisher: The Demon's Collar, an Ezequiel Choke
Haganehime
  • Himeko's height has been shortened to 5'1"/155 cm, as her height wasn't meant to match Nanase's
Hangaku
  • Hangaku's reworks have finally finished and she's available for plotting
  • Biggest change is Hangaku's bio now having stronger hints toward her yakuza ties
Kurokage
  • Kuro's height has been shortened to 4'10"/147 cm to give her a more cutesy and child-like appearance

Patch Notes (8/30/21)

Unread post by dlamp »

Okay, I've been spending quite a bit of time behind the scenes updating and reworking a lot of my profiles over this past month, and the majority of them are fixed and updated to my current standards. Here's a quick list of all the big things that changed.

Update Profiles & Future Notes
  • All profiles now have matches, social events, and promos lists in a more linear fashion to show the proper timeline, along with a quick and easy view of each character's general record that will be updated as matches finish. Some matches may be listed outside of their posted/finished order to have certain plot elements make more sense. Apologies to anyone playing these matches in a more directly linear fashion in terms of their own timeline, though at the moment this new timeline manipulation mostly effects Amano Jaku.
  • Slowly, I will have my characters updated with character sheets/reference images drawn by me personally. I will still have the original reference image available for those that prefer them or don't find my art skills up to snuff, but all future written descriptions of my characters and their attire will follow what I've drawn myself. Amano and Kurokage are finished and while I won't be posting updates for every character as I finish them, expect all 5 non-canon characters to have proper character sheets and reference images by the end of September or beginning of October.
  • All characters now have their Twitter Handles posted on their profile. Amano is the only character with an actual linked page, but all characters will now be able to actively interact on LAW Twitter, though this will be done sparingly.
  • The character Akamatsu Yukihiro has been removed from all of my personal listings as I've personally lost interest in doing mixed and MvM matches for the time being.
  • In terms of my personal availability, my summer semester of college is over and the fall semester is much breezier in terms of scheduling, so I will likely be much freer from now until mid-January lest something happens. My maximum activity will likely be Monday and Tuesday, with a major slow down/break period on Saturday and Sunday.
Kurokage
  • Kurokage now has a drawn reference image of her character in her appearance section.
  • Kurokage's real name, Sayoka Teruko, has been glitched out in her name section to show her real identity and personal information are hidden by LAW management.
  • Kurokage's personality section has been updated to fit her current style of writing. Little has change saved for addressing her cutesy nature further a sharper difference in her personality out of the ring to be more casual and approachable.
  • Kurokage's backstory has been simplified greatly and left in a more mysterious/vague state to strength her personal identity being concealed.
  • Matches and events that involved the use of Kurokage's real name and past have been removed from her timeline. Apologies to those that planned to and are using those events as a reference for future plots of their own characters, but they will no longer be recognized by Kurokage at the very least.

Short Hiatus

Unread post by dlamp »

Those of you active on LAW Discord already know this, but for those that didn't, I'm going to be taking a short break from the forum for a bit.

To put it bluntly, things have been... rough in my personal life for the last two weeks. I'd rather not go into details on my life beyond this forum, but just to you all a small idea in these last two weeks no less than three bikes broken on me. One I've had for about two years and it was already held up by duct tape and spit, the other two I had for less than a week before they broke on me in the same fashion. And that was the least upsetting thing that happened to me this past week. Needless to say, I'm a little stressed at the moment.

And usually RPing on the forum is one of my ways of relaxing and calming myself down, this is also a very social activity and in my current state there's a good chance I'd accidentally snap at someone for a small or perceived slight after dealing with all the things going on in my life outside of the forum. I'd rather not risk that, so I'll be stepping away for a few days until things in my personal life get in order and my emotional state settles.

And before anyone freaks out or worries for me, know that as of me typing this things have gotten much better. I was able to get a full refund on the first bike I bought last week, and my latest bike was both a free gift from my job's management department and had a good warranty on it, so I'll be exchanging it for an ideally better bike soon. That said, I'll still be away for a few days to truly calm down and relax since God only knows what else can happen in a week.

With that said...

Time Frame
  • Like I said, things are slowly getting better and this is more a short break than a full hiatus, so expect me to be active again around Monday (October 25th).
  • I'll probably take this time to also finally work on more of the RP Ramblings this week as well, so expect a new entry there at some point.
  • While on the subject, expect another hiatus around November 8th, as my midterms start that week and I'll be studying for it more heavily than usual.
  • I'll still be on Discord, just unavailable for matches or planning until Monday.
Thread Priority
  • Due to the circumstances of things, I'll only be posting in PPV threads during this hiatus. And even then that's probably not going to be often, once a day if they update.
Okay, I think that's everything. I'll be seeing you all later.

Plans for 2022

Unread post by dlamp »

I'll spare you all a long end-of-year speech about where I've been as a writer or if I've met my goals this year and get to the main point of things. Consider this a mix of that sort of thing along with my ongoing plans for how I want to tackle the next year.

Posting Schedule

Again, to spare you all the long speech I've realized that I've been really been prioritizing threads over some other things lately. Not in a damaging way mind you, but I've noticed this hyper-fixation habit of mine has locked onto something it shouldn't and I wanna' break away from that by forcing myself into "off days". Nothing is set in stone yet, but I'll be posting only four days a week once I start Winter Semester on January 11th. Currently, I'm think my off days will be Thursday-Saturday, but we'll see where things go once I'm back in college. I'll be updating my thread priorities with the schedule once I full piece it together.

Character Roster

I'm currently thinking of shelving Hangaku and Kurokage in the same vein of me shelving Yukihiro, possibly Himeko as well. Again, to keep things short, these 3 characters haven't had much use due to various reasons, namely that my goals for these characters can't be fully achieved at the moment or at least I haven't be in the mood to hunt down matches for these characters due to various reasons. At the moment, I'll finish any thread these characters and likely shelve them for a later date.

New Characters

With that said, expect a few new characters from me in the near future. These will probably be more Wrestle Angel/Ring Dream characters, mostly so I don't have to draw a character sheet for them. I want to build a decent group of "reserve" characters that are good for anything I don't have to worry about establishing them that much, so expect at least two more characters to come out this year from me.

Supercard Events

Again, I'll save you all the speech, but one of my bigger goals of 2022 for LAW is to plot out and complete at least three Supercard/PPV events. At the moment the only character I have that's got enough pull/exposure to do that well is Amano, but with the new characters I'll be making and characters like Hakune getting more traction I think I could make a few. Expect me to be more proactive in this goal and feel free to shoot me a DM if you're interested.

Other Things

I'm just going to have this in list form since these are more general points I'd rather not spend a paragraph each on.
  • Lamp's Attitude: In general, I'm going to be a little more straightforward with my goals and what I want from the threads I'm writing, so expect me to plot things out a little more than I have been. Not to a heavy degree (especially if we've done threads before), but expect me to be a bit more hands-on with how things play out.
  • Thread Cancellations: With the above stated, I'll also be more forward about possibly canceling threads that either having seen action for a long period of time or retconning events that have stagnated from inactive users. This won't effect much from this year, but as of 2022 expect a bit more strictness from me in this regard.
  • Thread Lengths: I've lightly hinted at for the past while, but I'll state it outright here: I'd like to keep the majority of my threads around 4-5 pages or 30-45 posts. This is mostly for match threads, but the shorter length helps keep things moving and is more than enough time to tell a decent story. I'll be more active in encouraging a conclusion to future threads as they get to that threshold.
I think that's it for general plans and announcements. I'll be a bit spotty in my activity for the next few days for various reasons, but for now I'll see you all later.

Slow Down/Break Annoucement

Unread post by dlamp »

Alright, so a lot of things are happening at the moment outside the screen for me. Fighting games kind of exploded this week with announcement, releases, and me getting my hands on a few games. I've slowly been getting into Ark Survival Evolved and slowly that game is taking over my life. And in terms of my actual life outside of RPing I've got some projects and exams happening in April. Needless to say I'll be focusing on some off-forum things for the next few weeks so I'll be slowing down and taking a possibly small break from things here for a bit, at least from until around the end of April.

Hiatus/Break Notes
  • In general, I'll be slowing down from now (March 22nd) until about mid-April.
  • This isn't really a hiatus, but a general slow down of activity. Save for a handful of threads expect me to post about three or four times a week.
  • I'll also likely be doing those posts at a specific time throughout the day, likely late afternoon/early evening, at least by Eastern Time.
Cancellations
Okay, so this one is actually a bit important to mention as well. I've been doing this very quietly, but some of you might have noticed I've canceled, retconned, or otherwise official discontinued a lot of older threads. Most of these were threads that were as old as two-years-old and as recent as four-months-old, and specifically threads I've started. I'll have a more detailed version above later on, but going forward I'll be making good on my 2022 plans and start being more active about canceling things that have moved at a crawl's pace without reason. To keep it brief, anything thread that's older than one month without a reply I'll be shooting a message out toward the writer asking if they want the thread canceled, or cancel it outright if they've been inactive in posts for longer than that month without an announcement. Again, a more detailed version will be given in the future, but that's the basics of it.

But I believe that's everything, I'll see you all later.

Hiatus Annoucement

Unread post by dlamp »

I didn't really think I'd be taking a break in September, but... things have happened so I might as well make this semi-break a full thing and just be off the site for a few weeks. Nothing big has happened outside the screens, I've just been slowing down in my postings and I tend to take a decent break from the site about twice-ish a year already. This is just about that time. I'll be quick about the details. In short, I'll be away from the site for the rest of September. Expect me back in posting shape around October 3rd, but that might be extended a little long as well depending on the situation.
  • Like usual when I go on these hiatuses, I'll be making an exception for PPV/Supercard events. Those usually have a much heavier hand in planning and are easier to write since the script and general flow is so detail and plotted out. I'm also tacking on Apex Qualifiers and Apex events in general onto that list. Qualifiers are still going on and I have a few to finish as well. This is ultimate only 3-ish threads in total I'll be pushing so not much a heavy workload for me.
  • Unlike usual, I'll probably have minimal discord activity, or at least minimal activity on the server. Not for any big reason, just... not actively using discord much this month and with me focusing on my art and off-site writings I'm mostly in my art and writing servers instead of LAW's server.
  • I'll probably be making some changed to how to do things post/schedule-wise when I come back, so expect some kind of update on that when I get back as well.
I believe that's everything important, so I'll be heading off. See you all in October.
